Town square is at the very center of town, surrounded by a few lucky businesses, but mostly reserved for such buildings as the police department, government offices, fire station, and the mayor's home itself. The public garden is just down the block from here, while, on the opposite end, one can see the sparkle of the water from the fountain in the day. This is normally a lively place, people coming to and from work, a few just strolling about, while some children could be found scurrying on by to the playground up the street from here. There are birds atop the lights and flowers blooming along the sidewalk, though none as beautiful as the one's at the garden. There even is a small, humble fountain and, despite lacking the elegance of the town fountain, is still a quaint spot to relax. If one can handle the possible bustle of people, that is.

Amie withheld a scowl as she strode into the town square. Ugh. All these peasants were too much. Maybe she should have picked a different location. No matter, royalty didn't change their mind, and since she was a princess, she'd have to follow up on this example. There was no turning back from a decision. The world would just crumble to pieces if she did so, and it was up to her to prevent that.

She sat herself at an empty bench, daintily making sure to cross her legs as she did so since an elegant being as herself needed to present herself as such. Now, all she had to do was wait for a servant to come pick her up and escort her to some frogs. After all, she couldn't wait for her prince to come to her. That would take much too long. Instead, she was going to seek out her prince instead. Of course, she wasn't going to let her fair lips touch any frogs, so she needed someone else to do that for her. Hopefully, someone would come soon, or else she'd have to inflict a punishment upon them. Tardiness wasn't acceptable!

John hoped he was on time. The man finally reached town square, wiping sweat from his forehead and spotting a lone girl waiting with an impatient air on a bench. He really, really hoped he was on time – he didn't mind a penalty; that would just be what he deserved for not doing this right and John would accept any punishment without anxiety because of that. He just really didn't like the idea that someone was hurt because he had to stop a multitude of times to pick up the poor drying earthworms from the sidewalk and safely escort them into the grass. Even if he really couldn't help that he had to do that, but maybe he could have gotten it done faster if he tried and maybe he shouldn't have scared those crows away from the wriggly, slimy animal because it wasn't like they shouldn't be allowed to eat either! Maybe if he hadn't been himself, he would have gotten here sooner and saved everyone from all this trouble!

He withheld a sigh because she really didn't need to be bothered by his feelings, unless she wanted to see he had feelings; he knew at least one person in town who seemed to be afraid of androids or robots or whatever. In any case, he offered a smile at the girl as he came up to her and immediately greeted her with, “Sorry. I'm sorry, Ms. Dahl – it.. it was Dahl, wasn't it?” His frown returned, “Unless you wouldn't know – oh, sorry, I didn't mean to come up to the wrong girl – person, because Amie could be a boy name too and that would be just fine if it was on a boy, because I think it's a good name no matter what you do with it.” Was he assuming things? Jeez, he really missed Wilhelm sometimes! He would know when John was being a complete moron.

In all honesty, Amie was very much surprised that anyone showed up in the first place. Of course, she quickly replaced the shock on her face with a frown. A noblewoman like her had to be presentable. "It is Lady Dahl to you." She snootily crossed her arms in her disappointment. On the inside, she was secretly delighted though, but hey, royalty had to look the part and be bitches. "And you are late, simpleton. I expected more from you, and as punishment, you must carry me to our next destination. Bring me to where the frogs are." She snipped. Pft. Punishment or not, she still wouldn't have dared to go walking in the first place. She needed the special treatment, or else her poor feet would be sore.

"That is not the last of my orders though. I demand a name as well."

Oh.. Oh, he had upset her. John's shoulders drooped and his eyes lowered to the ground as he waited for something to be thrown at him or anything, really. He deserved it, but, even though he really did and he didn't mean to insinuate even to any mind-readers out there that he at all felt he was deserving of better, at least.. she was only a little girl and it probably wouldn't hurt that much. But, who knows? Maybe she was actually a black belt in karate or some other form of martial art and knew just the right way to hurt even a grown man like John! He shut his eyes tight and silently apologized for assuming otherwise, because it wasn't right to judge someone like he had just done. Now he just had to wait for something to happen.

...But, Lady Dahl just.. spoke. She hadn't made an attempt on his life yet or anything! He opened his eyes again and looked at her in surprise that she only wanted him to carry her around. John could do that! He would love to do that! This girl, though she wasn't his age or looked a thing like him, reminded him of Wilhelm and that just took away any of the bad feelings he had in an instant!

Yes, Lady Dahl!” He chirped as he leaned down to carefully pull her onto his shoulders, since that was always the best place to be. “The frogs? I see frogs only at the lake – sometimes at the park! Oh, but the pet store! The fountain too? Where do you want to start, Lady Dahl?” He asked after he had found what he hoped to be an okay place to hold onto her legs. He started to walk around the square just so he could keep moving, figuring he could always change direction when she gave the order. But, he did pause to screw up his face in thought, “A name..?” ...For.. what? “Which name?

.....Yes. Holy crap, this was amazing fodder for her life story. Alas, she was in love though, and no one could ever stop true love.

With a bat of her eyelashes, she stared down at her beloved and said. "I want to start with you, my love, and I want to know my future husband's name. It's you by the way." She added in the last part even if it broke character, but her new hubby didn't seem like the smartest tack around. It was fine though. She loved him in spite of all his imperfections.

John stopped in his aimless walk and looked up at Lady Dahl blankly, what she said registering slowly even with the added explanation. Did she.. really..? But.. John didn't – he didn't think he could be that unless she meant the future, future, ah.. Ah, but she must be joking! Yes, yes, she was playing a game of pretend, like little kids sometimes did. So, he smiled at her and laughed a little before replying, “I'm John. It's nice to.. uh..

Okay, he couldn't do this, even if he was just pretending to be engaged to a little girl – it just didn't feel right! He looked down in shame at his poor acting abilities before looking up again so the girl could see his face, which was important to some people since he knew there were some amazing sorts who knew how to tell a lie just by the eyes. Or nose. Or something on his head, he didn't remember how they did it. “..I'm sorry, Lady Dahl, but, uh, I can't.. marry you, it's.. it's not right.” He would get arrested! And Wilhelm would be so disappointed in him! Ah, he just couldn't do it! He tried to smile and make up for the rejection as gently as he could, "But.. but I can help you find your future husband?"

This was just plain tragic. She was actually being rejected here? Oh, she could just feel her heart ripping in two. In fact, she could actually feel tears welling up in her eyes because damn it all, she was supposed to get things her way. "But.... But.... I love you." She hiccuped through her sobs. How tragic. Her youth was absolutely destroyed from this devastating rejection. Not only that, but this made wonderful fodder for her biography too. Maybe she should add in more theatrics to increase the drama!

"Without you, my life is nothing." Amie wailed. "I might as well end my life now since nothing will ever heal my broken heart."

Oh, no, no, no! John felt his heart give a painful squeeze at that first hiccup and, not wanting to accidentally drop her in his panic, he carefully, as gentle as if he was saving a ladybug from drowning in the fountain, set the girl down on the closest bench. He knelt in front of her and held her hands together just in case she was actually going to go through with that threat and end her life right there because that would just be too sad. John wouldn't let it happen, even if she hated him for it!

"No, please, I'm sorry, Lady Dahl, you can't - what.. what about your family? Even if you don't have family right now, I'm sure you had or have or will have someone who will be family and it would be the worst, ma'am, if they lost you." He wouldn't know what his dad would do if John died! ...Probably move on, but that would be okay because it wasn't like John wanted to hold him back or anything. Still, he was sure that it would give him at least a few minutes of sadness and that would just be dreadful. "Sorry, but, I can fix it - your heart. I mean, I don't know if I can, but.. but will you let me try? Please?"

Damn. She didn't win his heart over in one go. However, by the looks of things, she could potentially earn yet another loyal servant that would answer to her every whim. Amie just needed to play her cards right. She sniffled, grabbing a handkerchief out of her purse to dab away her tears. As if she'd rub her eyes. It was one thing that her mascara was running, but she certainly didn't want to smear it all over her face.

With a small whimper, she let out her sob story. "B-But... I have no family. Not anymore. I came from a long lineage of nobility, but we all suffered from weak hearts. Without proper love, we die tragically young. That was the fate of my parents, and now, they're no longer with me. I have nothing else to lead me on in this world." Maybe, that was a bit of a stretch, but she couldn't stop now!

"However, if you really want to help me, I'll have to let you know that it's a difficult task, John. There are many trials that you must overcome in order to save my broken heart. Are you prepared for this?"

What? John wasn't prepared to hear any of that! He even started to cry a little himself as he listened to her tale - how.. sad! He didn't think people like that could exist, but he guessed it was wrong of him to not be aware of them. He would have to try harder to make sure he didn't upset anyone ever by assuming they weren't part of a line of nobility that all suffered from weak hearts and would die without love. How stupid of him. He sniffed and squeezed her hands as he held them slowly for more his support than hers, however selfish that was.

He nodded a few dozen times before mustering up an answer, which was, of course, "Yes! Yes, I will do anything to help you, Lady Dahl, I'm.. I'm so sorry that you have to suffer from this. Tell me what I can do and I'll do it, I promise!" Even if it would kill him, he would help her! He had to or else.. or else her weak heart may give out and he would just die too from all the sadness of that!

Amie might have forgotten her original purpose. She couldn’t help being sidetracked though. She had gotten way too into this drama, and she loved it. Of course, she needed to get back on track. Duh, she needed her prince here, but she couldn’t meet him with her makeup running like this! “Thank you.” She sniffled out. “Perhaps, we should continue this quest another day. I feel as though I have been severely weakened after this turn of events. That rejection wounded me, so I must rest for the time being. Please, I need assistance. Carry me back to my home.”

AND SO, JOHN WAS FORCED TO BECOME AMIE’S MINION. THEY DID NOT GET TO GO FRENCH KISSING FROGS. THIS JOURNEY MAY CONTINUE IN ANOTHER TIME. TO BE CONTINUED. MAYBE. I DON’T KNOW.

(( Sorry, Coma, I'm wrapping up this scene. >_< ))

Angela was so caught up drawing that she didn't even notice the increasingly bad weather--not until the first drops of rain hit her sketch book. By the time she had her things gathered and was heading back to town, the wind was picking up and the sky overhead was dark and threatening. She broken into a run when the rain went from sprinkles to steady drops and soon found herself in the town square looking for shelter.

What...the hell was this stupid weather? Not that she minded rain or storms--she actually loved them but not when she was caught out in them. Keeping her tote shoved under one arm in hopes of keeping the rain out, Angela used her free hand to try to push her hair out of her face as the wind whipped it around her head.

She didn't think she could make it home like this so maybe it was best to try to duck into a shop somewhere? Then again, she didn't want to get stuck in a shop either. She reached into her tote with her free hand, hair obscuring her face as she fumbled around for her phone--not that she got decent service here but maybe if she was lucky she could reach her father and find out where he was...? As she rummaged around, a huge gust of wind caught her off guard and nearly sent her headlong into a street lamp. She managed to catch it and swing herself around it instead of slamming into it face first.

"Well...this is just lovely." she muttered under her breath. It might be better to forget calling her dad and just get to shelter.

The sky had been looking worrisome all day, but Garland hadn't paid it much attention. A little water and wind never hurt anyone! ...Except for when it did, and it was very unfortunate and he meant no offense to any survivors out there. It was looking pretty foreboding when he left work, but he shuffled at his usual pace, trying to remember what the weather forecast had said. Was it supposed to just rain, or should he be worried? He hadn't really storm-proofed his apartment.

Despite his slight concerns, Garland didn't really react when it started to rain. Once it was clear it was not his imagination, he stopped dead in tracks, looking up at the darkening sky. "Gross, what," he looked back down as a raindrop hit him right in the eye. He didn't have an umbrella, but he didn't really care about his clothes. In fact, he held out his leg, his jeans splattered with mud, in the hope that the rain would wash off the dirt and he wouldn't have to do laundry.

He was delicately turning his leg back and forth when he saw a white haired girl hurry through the square and swing around a pole. Garland glanced around, almost expecting a Hollywood camera crew, but the girl wasn't singing or anything, so it probably wasn't a movie scene. That's when he recognized the girl as... Angela! Immediately he felt nervous. That day at the Tomato Festival, when she had announced that he'd be taking her to dinner, was the best day of his life. Just thinking about it sent him into a tizzy! Senpai had noticed him, so while he felt a little bashful around her, Garland was a puppy and Angela had just said the word "walk". So he forgot his nerves and hurried right over.

"Hi!" he greeted her as he popped out of nowhere. His thick, curly hair was now thoroughly soaked, and was beginning to plaster itself against his head, sending drips right into his eyes, so he blinked much more than he usually did. "Angela! It's me, Garland! Do you remember? Tomato Festival?" He said 'tomato festival' as if he were referring to an illicit love affair they had had many years ago, not just a win at a tomato fight. This was their Casablanca! Garland had never seen Casablanca, but he assumed that this was an appropriate reference to make. "I've been meaning to call you, but you forgot to give me you number, haha." Storm? What storm?

Angela was clinging to the lamp post for dear life, wondering if maybe she should try to put on some weight if wind gusts like this were common on the island, when she was approached by a vaguely familiar (if slightly bedraggled) young man with muddy pants and sopping hair that was sending an unending stream of water droplets into his big, overly eager eyes. Well, not that his eyes were eager, but his expression sort of gave that impression, anyway. Angela looked up at him, wondering why in God's name he was trying to have a conversation with her when apparently, the weather was determined she needed to take up a new career as a kite. Regardless, Garland looked like he weighed a lot more than she did, and wasn't as slippery as the metal lamp post so Angela latched onto his arm as soon as he was close enough, figuring she could bully him into taking her somewhere dry as soon as he...what on Earth was he babbling about?

Oh, right. Tomato boy. She remembered him--they'd briefly been on the same team before he and the other team member had gotten knocked out of the competition. Huh, that's right. He hadn't taken her for a victory dinner, had he? No one had. Pfft. Then again, it was a tomato festival. She probably shouldn't be expecting much acclaim for the fact she apparently was good at throwing fruit.

"Right, yeah, I remember you," Angela assured him, looking at his neck because raising her head further than that meant subjecting her eyes to an onslaught of raindrops even though he wasn't really that much taller than she was. "I'd give you my number now but it's a bit wet out." She glanced around, then back up at him, squinting through the barrage of rain that attacked her face. Come to think of it, maybe he lived nearby? It might at least give her a place to hide out until the rain died down. She really should have worn something besides this little cami-thing. It felt like the bloody Nile river was streaming down her back. "Sorry to be a bother, but do you happen to live around here? Maybe we can get out of the rain? I was on my way home but it is a bit of a walk and I'm rather afraid I might get bloody well washed out to sea by a flash flood if the rain keeps up like this."
