ON PROFILE THREADS
- First off, each character does not get their own thread. Profiles are grouped together by family units, meaning that each family gets their own thread. Son, daughter, dad, grandma, uncle, cousin, if they live together as a family they get put in the same thread.
For all you single ladies and fellas out there, if a character lives alone, they can have their own profile thread.
When a character gets married, you have two choices! Nirvani is based on a patriarchal system, so you can A) move the wife to her new husband's thread OR B) the new couple can move out on their own and start a new thread for their own independent family. You can do whichever is easiest/feels right. (Obviously, if it's a same-sex couple you move one to either thread.)
Threads should be titled "_______ Family" if a multi-person thread, or simply the character's name if it's a single character living alone. When two characters marry within the roleplay, please include both surnames, regardless of the actual name the characters go with. For example, Zhi Xiqui and River Park get married. Although Zhi takes River's name and becomes Zhi Park, their profile thread would be titled "Xiqui-Park Family" to distinguish from other branches of the Park family.
If a couple has a baby but they aren't married/a couple/in a recognizable family unit, the baby will go into the thread of whichever parent has primary custody.
ON PROFILE FORMATS
- Profiles should contain the following information AT LEAST:
Name: Your character's full name
Age: Your character's age, from 0 to 100. No one is allowed to live past 100.
Gender: Is it a he, she, or none of the above?
Birthday: The day your character was born. Pick a season (Spring, Summer, Fall, or Winter) and a number 1 through 30.
Sexuality: Is your character straight? Gay? Bisexual? Other?
Height: How tall is your character?
Likes: Should contain favorite food, favorite drink, favorite season, favorite animal, favorite color, and anything else you'd like to add
Dislikes: Same as with likes, but their least favorites.
History: A brief (or long, the longer the better, in fact) history of your character. Where is he from? What's his past? What's his family like? Also, like stated in the rules, nothing overly dramatic. Some drama, yes, everybody has at least a little something, but nothing that would make us want to repeatedly smash our head against a brick wall. Thank you.
Job: Does your character work or is he a bum? What pays the bills? Please check the Job Center for available jobs before filling this in.
Journal/Diary: Where is it located? Please link to their journal post.
Theme song: This one is more for fun, so don't get stressed if you can't think of anything! Does your character have a theme song? Post a link embedded in the title of the song. Pick something that creates a mood for your character! Video game music is good, but it can be anything. If in doubt, just ask!
The above things are mandatory, but you are welcome to add other sections if you'd like.
For character pictures, images should not be too big (if it stretches the post/page it's too wide!) and should be aligned left or right, or centered above the profile.
Appearance descriptions are welcome, as are anime pictures, drawings, and real life photos. Also, don't be afraid to deviate from the image you use! If Sadie has an elephant tattoo but you can't find a picture of a lady with an elephant tattoo just mention it somewhere in the profile! In fact, descriptions and a reference image is even better.
Advance coding is preferred but not mandatory. However, if you really don't know how to code a profile at all, we have a basic template you can use, free of charge~
Please try to make your profiles look clean, pretty, and neat. Colors and text should be readable, and the organization should make sense. This is your introduction to your character, so make it a good one!
IN GENERAL
- If your profile does not meet the guild's quality standards (whether that be quality of appearance or quality of content) we may ask you to change something. Also, if something in your profile reaaally doesn't make sense, seems problematic, or breaks one of our rules on characters, we may ask you to change it or clarify! But we're not mad or mean, we just want to make sure that everything makes sense and is nice to look at. However, we do ask and expect that you follow the crew's suggestions.
If you're ever unsure if something is correct, please feel free to ask a crew member, or someone in the guild OOC! We're all happy to help~
