This article came up on my facebook on how rich Manhattan moms hire handicapped tour guides so their kids can cut lines at Disney World, it honestly made me SICK.
I feel bad for the Disney theme parks because they can't really do anything about it either...There isn't really a way to prove if they'd been hired for cutting lines or if the handicapped person is just a part of the family or a friend.
And they certainly can't cut out that program all together, I for one have an autistic younger brother and he would NOT be able to deal with the long lines and crowds for 2-21/2 hours. It would just overwhelm him, but that's not his fault, he should still be able to ride the rides.
These moms need a slap.
----------------------------- (parts from the article)
The “black-market Disney guides” run $130 an hour, or $1,040 for an eight-hour day.
“My daughter waited one minute to get on ‘It’s a Small World’ — the other kids had to wait 2 1/2 hours,” crowed one mom, who hired a disabled guide through Dream Tours Florida.
“You can’t go to Disney without a tour concierge,’’ she sniffed. “This is how the 1 percent does Disney.”

This makes me sick to hear about. I have 2 mentally disabled younger sisters, and to hear about completely normal people abusing this system... this is just disgusting. This is the kind of thing that makes me lose all faith in humanity.
The only positive about this is that at least the disabled guides get to go to Disney as well.

That is just messed up I mean simple that women tone of how she said words makes me sick it so almost proud that she did that. I understand that having your kids in front of the line and wait short but come on that what fast pass are for. what they did in my view is wrong.

I heard about this article yesterday from i think it was yahoo. But I can't believe these women are doing this. This is not unfair. First off just hiring disabled people to get into rides for only a waiting time of about a few minutes. These women are using them.. That's a part that bugs me. Second normal people need to wait a full hour or so just to ride. Including myself and my family when we went to Disney Land. The unfairness presented with this issue is so great that I just can't help but feel a sense of bitterness towards these mothers.
However I do see why they do this. The reason being they want their child to enjoy the many fun aspects Disney has to offer. But I still disagree with how they go to obtain this need.

I wonder how the kids must feel when they see their mother doing this.

I hate that this is actually one of the few ways that someone who is disabled can make a decent living. My best friend, who has CP, is having a nearly impossible time finding employment of any sort despite the fact that she graduated in the top percentage of her class and walked away from college with various honors. Possible employers love her… until they see that she’s handicapped (of course it isn’t what they say but her disability is clearly the leading factor as why they don’t hire her).
It bothers me more that discrimination of those who are disabled is so prevalent that this ‘Dream Tours’ can hire probably a good chunk despite their employees possible moral leanings. Also, for those who have medical issues that effect brain functions, it is a clear case of abusing that person’s condition for profit on behalf of Dream and just simple convince for those who are extremely wealthy. It doesn’t even state how much the chaperone gets paid –just how much that their going rate is per hour and per day. The owner of that company could be paying those poor people peanuts (and they probably are).
What bothers me, too, is that to people who are THAT rich, a few more hundred dollars an hour doesn’t make that much of a difference. They likely have saving accounts or CDs that make that amount in interest in half a month. Getting a VIP pass or escort wouldn't really be an issue for them.
It’s just so selfish on so many different levels that it burns. It burns so bad.
