Damn it. He was bored already. Life was growing far too slow for his liking. One second he was full of adventure, diving deep into infested waters to get the treasure he needed; wanted. The next, he was laying on a beach, glaring at the water before him. What the hell was going on? He didn't need to do this. He needed to be out there, looking for treasures and searching for gold. The beach was nice, sure. But he was an adventurer at heart, and he needed the prize of all prizes. The gem of all treasures. He needed the ultimate gold that no one would ever be able to take from him. That's right. He needed to find it.
He had heard rumors, not too long ago, from a mare about some treasure that was near this beach. And so, he traveled long and hard. Kuma Pau'a fought off a few Kalona on his way, and ended up somewhat wounded; but he ignored the pain to continue his movement. The trail, sadly, ran cold as he got near the beaches, and now he knew not where he was. Frowning, he glanced around, his tail shifting to lay in the water that came up, and then back down. Tides were marvelous things for a Kelpi. They could relax on land, and still get the water substance they needed. Shaking out his short mane, he stood slowly, his body somewhat covered in sand, before he walked back into the water, until he could submerge his entire body.
Here, he thought, he would be able to collect his mind. If the trail went cold, it was because he wasn't searching hard enough. As much as Kuma Pau'a hated to admit it, he would need to look harder; to press until he found the treasure that beckoned his heart and demanded he obtained it! He didn't even know what it was, but he knew he had to have it. Pursing his lips, and drew his brows together, he nodded and started back up toward the beach, tail giving a half flick as he moved. He stopped when just his eyes were above the water, scanning the beach slowly for any intruders that may have wandered their way up while he was underwater thinking. No need to get ambushed, after all.

Kalypso ambled down the beach, not far from the rocky outcropping on which she'd been sunning herself was. As per her usual, she walked just above the pebbly part of the shore, on the sand that she so easily sunk her hooves into. Her daughter was off somewhere at the moment on an afternoon adventure - inland nearby, by the sound of her eagerness to get going earlier this morning. Sephora had grown up into a lovely young thing, to be sure, but she was almost at the point where she didn't need her mother anymore; the mare was a young adult without the separation anxiety that her mother sometimes experienced.
With a wistful sigh, Kaly turned to look at the sea, wondering what it would be like if she could go back and take the baskets of both her children, rather than just Sephora's. What would it have been like to raise two heart-wrenchingly cute foals? She supposed she would know eventually, but it wouldn't be with the same paradigm - her first children had been her first loves, even though she'd only gotten to spend a significant amount of time with one of them. Shaking her head, Kaly turned her gaze downward, to the pearl anklet, the likeness of which her daughter had inherited. It'd been a gift from her father, Sephora's grandfather, one taken at the risk of a wrath of a kelpi... One he'd had to face in the end, along with her mother and brother. They'd been simple, sea-loving family, who'd tempted fate one too many times. Rather than be taken by a rip, though, they'd been dragged to the depths of the ocean by a feral creature who'd probably done them in a savage way...
Shaking her head again to get rid of the morbid thoughts, Kalypso looked up. Something wasn't right, out there in the water, but she couldn't figure out exactly what it was. There was something out there that wasn't the right shade of blue, maybe... Stepping forward a little, Kaly peered into the distance. It was only when her foot hit the wet sand did she realize that she was nearing the water's edge - closer than she'd been in a few years. Backpedaling quickly, Kalypso's hooves left messy prints in sand. With her heart in her throat, she glanced back at the water on high alert. If there was something less-than-well-meaning out there, what could she do? The beach was deserted for miles at a time; she'd wandered it for years, she should know well enough. There was no way should could feasibly run for help, let alone warn her daughter, should something happen...
But taking a deep breath, she shook her head yet again. She was jumping to conclusions. There was nothing out there - there hadn't been in all those years she'd been wandering just far enough from the water to get good distance between herself and it should something come out of it. But maybe today's the day... she thought, feeling herself begin to shake from the adrenaline in her veins. What if today is the day that there's something in the water?

Kuma Pau'a's eyes flickered quietly along the sands of the beach. Everything seemed normal; quiet even. He frowned some at the thought, ears pinning back and his tail swaying some in the water behind him. How droll... Was there ever anything to do? That was until he saw a shift in the sand; as though it had gotten up and started to move. Frowning, the stallion let his bright gaze shift along the features. He squinted for several moments, trying to decipher just what it was he was seeing. And it wasn't until he took another half step, dipped his head in the water, and then pushed it back out just enough to see, did he realize what he saw standing on the beach, almost at the waters edge. She was small, at least to Kuma, and her skin was a dark color, with light sand accents. She could definitely fit in on the beach scene, and he could tell that easily. Though there was something about how she approached, and then seemed to get fearful. At how she stared at the water as if it was going to come out and bite her, before backing up and away from the shoreline.
The Kelpi blinked at her, though he was certain she didn't see him. After a moment, he ducked his head back under the water. Blowing out a stream of water, the stallion frowned, before he paced somewhat. She was lovely; like a princess on the sands. And he had always wanted a princess to keep in his cave; one that he could claim as his prize. No. Not prize. His treasure. Grinning some, the stallion laughed under his breath, before he moved toward the surface slowly, faking pain. He limped forward, his body slowly emerging. At one point, he almost collapsed, his limbs trembling from effort. He lifted his head for a moment, before dropping down just at the brink of the sands, head falling down into the wet particles. His tail gave a half flop, before it stilled, and he was left unmoving, his body giving small trembles of pain ever few seconds.
When he opened his eyes, half way, and stared toward the mare once more, he almost called out to her; almost asked her for assistance. But instead, Kuma's voice caught in his throat, and he hissed instead, closing his eyes and laying back fully on the sand, his eyes closing to block out the vision of the mare on the beach.
At least for now.

Kalypso felt her eyes nearly pop out of her head as she surveyed the roiling water. There was something in it. She could feel a scream rising through her throat, but knew she'd never release it - hers was a silent kind of terrified. The water swirled open around blue-green shape, a huge blue-green shape. She heard her breath whoosh in and out of her nostrils, on the edge of complete panic.
Something registered, though, something made her stop and pause before hysteria set in. The shape's movement was jagged, agonizingly slow. There was something wrong with it. She took a step forward, half hesitating. The distinctive fins and - she craned her neck - tail of a kelpi lay on the beach before her, shaking as though in massive amounts of pain. Could she really just let him lie there, if he was really hurt so terribly? Taking a quick study of him, Kalypso shook her head. No visible signs of trauma, nothing. And while she was sure something could be broken or bleeding beneath the surface of his skin, she also didn't want to take the chance that he was 'playing possum.' But then again, if he wanted to eat her, wouldn't he just run up the beach and drag her under, squealing?
Taking another few steps toward him, Kalypso rewound the situation through all the horrific thoughts that had been flying half-formed through her head. He'd been limping, that's why it'd seemed almost like slow-motion as her worst nightmare played out before her. His muscles were seized in shivers, and it still looked like they were. The reasonable part of her mind told her that she was being inhumane; he obviously needed help. But still her instinctual brain told her to flee, and she fought it down. As long as she didn't underestimate him or overestimate herself, she knew she'd be able to get away if he tried anything - that tail looked ungainly.
"I'm coming over there," she said, stepping further down the beach. "If you try anything, I'll run and scream and you'll dry out there on the sand, okay?" While she wasn't sure if that was a valid threat, it sounded good enough to her, despite the fact that her voice wavered near the end of it. Now about a body length from his side, Kalypso lowered her head to his level, bending her knees a little bit. He had a brown mask-like marking across his lowered eyelids and the bridge of his nose; she couldn't decide if it was menacing or endearingly childlike. And - was that a flower wreath around his neck? So much for kelpis coveting pearls, she thought, remembering that stolen pearls was the reason she'd always thought was the cause of her parents' deaths. Maybe this one just didn't carry his with him... Whatever the case, Kalypso took another long glance at his form. Again, she found nothing wrong with him, though his fins looked a bit ragged. She sincerely doubted that he'd laid down on his hurt side.
"What's wrong with you?" she asked, standing upright again. Sorry for the late reply! I don't remember seeing the tag til now. >.<

Now, this Kelpi wasn't like any other Kelpi. He was clever. He hid things, all the time. The treasures that he adored were hidden away in the cavern home he kept well hidden. And with that being said, he had never failed to get what he wanted. Kuma was very much so one of those Kelpi. The selfish, aggressive, collector. It was how he was, and no one ever seemed to understand it. He'd killed before to get a small diamond that was hiding in the mountains. This treasure hunter now had his eyes on another treasure. Up close, with his eyes barely open, he could see her a bit more in detail. Besides the rather shiny looking pearls and stone that adorned her, the markings on her back, and the coloration of her form made him think of a prized jewel. his fins shifted slightly, before falling to stillness. Closing his eyes, the stallion took in a slow breath, his ears pinning back slightly.
Dry out? He held back a chuckle, and shockingly kept it under control. Kuma found it hard not to laugh, honestly. He opened his eyes slowly, only about half way, and turned his eyes up toward the mare. He opened his mouth for a moment, before closing it, repeating the process a few times as if he was trying to clear something from his mouth. After a moment, he coughed some, wincing and curling slightly. The long tail, just the tip, flicked lightly, before he peered up at her once more, staring toward her in more detail. With, a hoarse voice ( he was faking it, but how would she know ), he responded to her last question. "Jellyfish... Stung... I-it... It h-hurts..." He said, his voice weakening the more he took. His eyes closed slowly, breath coming out shallow and hard.

As his pale eyes closed again, Kalypso leaned closer, unconsciously taking a couple more steps in his direction. She was close enough to have touched him now, if she leaned down and reached out with her nose. Studying the pale parts of his pelt, Kalypso felt skepticism begin to weigh heavily in her mind. Something was wrong. There were no raised streaks of bumps under his fur, nor were there any red, lash-like marks. She had been on the wrong end of a jellyfish before, too, and something about him didn't look right. Even the darker sections of his body showed no signs being stung; there were no tentacles sticking to him, either. "I don't see any red marks," she replied, frowning as she surveyed him again. It was then that she realized that he must be strong - all those long ropes of muscle were tensing and untensing, his tail flicking ever so slightly.
Maybe he's allergic, she thought, though the skepticism came screaming at her. If he was allergic, he'd be in much worse shape than this... Maybe he'd eaten one? "Did you have one for lunch that went down the wrong way?" she asked, her tone coming out with ferocity and disdain. She honestly hadn't meant it to, but her loathing and aversion to the kelpi kind was growing stronger and stronger, telling her to get away, for every moment that she found no evidence of injury on him. He's lying, he has to be! her mind keened; there was no swelling around his mouth, as far as she could tell, except where those long, gnashing teeth looked like they were set against his gums.
But it was too late. She was well within reach.

This was it. She moved closer, and he kept his eyes closed. Kuma could feel the change in the sand, the shift of weight. His tail flicked again, and he had to keep calm. Had to wait. Let her get somewhat defenseless. His muscles twitched slightly, as if irritated, or getting flies off his skin. The seconds ticked by, and he groaned slightly, to try and prove that he was in pain.
He couldn't lay still any more. Kuma's tail lashed, aiming to hit the mare's legs and knock her down into the sand. As soon as the mare was within the slick substance, Kuma yanked himself onto his feet in a smooth motion, baring his fangs. He shifted as quickly as he could, leaning down and smirking slightly toward her. "What a lovely treasure." He whispered, before hitting her hard enough in the head to knock her out, but not hard enough to leave a permanent mark. He had used the tactic on people before. The goal was to get her to sleep, even for just a moment. As soon as she was gone from the world, Kuma chuckled lightly. Perfect.
Shifting carefully, he lowered himself down, and wiggled his way under the mare. Kuma shifted as carefully as he could, before standing, the mare now positioned on his back. He walked slowly, ensuring she didn't fall, and made his way to the secret entrance. After getting through the path, and then into the cave, he lowered her onto a bed of furs. The Kelpi moved back to the cave's land access, and shoved the large bolder ( using all his strength ) to where it covered the hole. There was no way the mare would be able to do the same. The cave was large, with the only accessible, at least now, exit being the sea water. But only a Kelpi or a Mer would survive the swim to the surface from this depth. It was glittering with treasures; from golds, to silvers, to gems, to even pottery. It was his treasure cave, that no one knew about. Moving toward the water, the stallion smirked. "I'll be back, little treasure." he stated, before getting into the water, and swimming his way out and toward the surface, his tail lashing behind him to propel him forward.

Kalypso screamed as she went down and the thick, muscled tail hit her delicate ankles. She thought she felt something break, but she couldn't be sure - the wind was knocked out of her as she hit the sand, which suddenly felt hard as solid ground. Then he was standing over her, calling her a treasure of all things, his sharp teeth making her recoil. She wanted to spit at him, to scream again and call for help, but she knew no one would hear her. She was just aiming a kick at one of his tender knees when she felt a pang in her head and her world went dark.
Kalypso felt nothing as he supported her weight, carrying her back to his lair. The nerves that would have alerted her to danger in her sleep had been temporarily deadened by the blow to her head. Instead, the pale eyes and bright white fangs of the kelpi who had kidnapped her haunted her sleep.
When she awoke, Kalypso found herself on a warm bed of something soft, head throbbing as though it would fall off. When she opened her eyes, she was thankful that the only light in her chamber - whatever it was - was the glow from the slime that coated the rocks. Though it was barely enough to see by, it kept her head from aching too much. Blinking slowly, Kalypso tried to discern a door, but the walls all blended together. She tried lifting her head to roll into some kind of upright position, but decided against it as a bolt of agony shot through the top of her head. Sighing, she laid back down and tried to take inventory.
One of her ankles - or at least, one of the tiny little bones - definitely felt either cracked or broken. The way she was feeling, though, it would probably have time to heal before she really got into any kind of activity again. It wouldn't stop her from walking anywhere, she figured, but it would definitely be painful. Other than that and her head, she thought she was fine. There was a pool of water not too far away, but it smelled of salt. In fact, everything smelled of salt. He couldn't have taken her too far from the beach, if that was the case.
That was when it hit her. He'd taken her.
Sephora was out there all by herself.
Kalypso swore and sat up, gritting her teeth against the rush of pain in her head. "Help!" she called, loud as she could. Her ears rang with the echo of sound that the cave spit back at her. "Somebody help!"

Kuma moved quickly to the surface. He pulled himself out of the water, and onto the soft sand. Using his tail, he swiped over the sands, blending the mess of tussle from being seen. The Kelpi moved slowly toward the trees, his eyes flickering lightly. He peered around for several moments, before rearing up on his back legs, and plucked a large leaf from a tree, and then another, and another. He laid them on the ground, before going deeper, and gathered fruits and vegetables, even some soft grasses. For a moment, he laid them down in the leaves, before taking them and folding them carefully over each other, until he made a makeshift sack. The stallion picked it up in his mouth, lifting his head to peer around. Nothing seemed to be stirring in the woods. Good. Meant that nothing would be looking for his new gem. He moved back to the water, walking slowly into the salty depths, before he was swimming back toward his hidden cave entrance. It grew dark for several moments, but the Kelpi was so used to this passage that he could swim it with his eyes closed. Eventually he surfaced, right as she was screaming for help. His ears pinned in distaste at the echoes, before he pulled himself out of the water, and shook some of the liquid from his coat.
Walking over toward the furs, he set the leaves down, letting them unfold to show the fruit. "No one can hear you down here, little gem. This place is hidden, and isolated." He stated, before wandering away from her, his hooves making a soft noise against the wet stone. He wandered toward a few pots, the sound of dripping water able to be heard. Leaning down, he drank from one of the pots. Stalagmites hung from the ceiling, dripping clean water down into the clay pots. After a moment, he picked it up, careful not to spill, and set it down beside the food. He eyed her for a moment, gaze gentle, before turning his back on her to walk amongst the gold and silver. He disappeared behind a rather large pile, before reappearing pulling a large pelt of fur from hiding.
The Kelpi walked back to her, dropping the fur over her flank, before backing up some, eyes locked. Kuma was certain she was going to fight, or try to escape. But he was ready. He was strong enough to retain her, if he needed to. His tail swayed for a moment, before laying still beside him. "What is your name?"

Scrabbling backward off the furs as the water swelled toward her, Kalypso blanched. Remembering her temper, though, she thought that she would finally have the satisfaction of spitting at him. Whatever was beneath her hooves slid, and she was forced back down to the ground as she lost her balance.
When he stood before her and dropped the bundle from his mouth, Kalypso saw the white gleam of his teeth again. The round shape of the fruit was enticing, but at the same time revolting. If she would be able to retch, she would have, for it was at that same moment that she realized she was lying on a bed of fur. "That's reassuring," she said, spitting out the sarcasm-coated words as he set the jug of water beside her. Mildly curious about his lifestyle though she was, Kalypso was also inconceivably angry. He had kidnapped her. Not only had he kidnapped her, but he'd done it via her own stupidity. She'd gone against her better instincts. It was what she had been training her whole life not to do - and yet she'd been stolen away, anyway. Though he hadn't drowned her, she wasn't sure that that wasn't preferable to however he would treat her in the future.
Kalypso did her best to ignore the nickname, sickening as it was. Little gem, he said. She wondered absently - well, frantically, really - if he was the same kelpi that her father had stolen the pearls from. Maybe he was seeking revenge. Some inner part of her wanted to cry, but she steeled herself against it.
When he came back, another fur in his teeth, Kalypso spat and scrambled backward, away from him. Her world tilted around her as she got to her feet, and pain seared up her leg. The fur fell from her side. "Do you think I will wear the pelt of an animal, like a savage?" she asked. She had never killed an animal in her life, though she knew that kelpi could eat fish. Hence the sharp teeth. "Did you kill it yourself, you monster?" she cried, voice ringing across the sound of dripping water. Ignoring his question about her name, Kalypso backed into a wall, smashing something with a back hoof that cut into her hock. Looking back, she saw the shards of a pot. At least now, she'd broken something of his, too. "Stay away from me."

Kuma let his gaze linger on her for several seconds. What was she freaking out about? His tail gave a small flick, eyes shifting to look around him, before he locked his gaze on her once more. She seemed to be panicking more than was necessary. At least that was what he thought. He tilted his head to the side, observing her. When she commented on the furs, he frowned. She did not like comfort? From what he knew, laying on the cool, damp ground was not comfortable. But the furs were. They were soft and warm, and great to sleep on. Even himself, as a Kelpi, enjoyed them greatly. Granted, some days he loved to lay at the bottom of the sea and sleep in the waters, but some days, he wanted the warmth of fur. He frowned, his eyes flickering toward the furs that now laid on the ground. Well... That was frustrating.
Watching her carefully, his eyes glanced down toward the leg that she seemed to be favoring. Kuma blinked toward her, his head lowering for a moment, staring toward that favored leg. He had hurt her. On accident, honestly. He didn't mean to hurt her badly, but, if he had, then he should apologize, right? That was until she commented on the furs. His ears snapped up, and his eyes narrowed in irritation. What? Had he... That... He bared his fangs for a moment, the frills on his back lifting for a moment, before they laid flat against his body once more. "No. I did not. I took them from an abandoned Indian camp." He said through gritted teeth. She wanted him to stay away, fine. He took a step back, snorting lightly, before turning and heading back toward the water. He started down the small slope, his body starting to disappear in the water.
Let her be alone then. Maybe with time, the mare would calm and be willing to talk to Kuma rather than insult him.

A chill flashed over her as he bared his teeth at her again. Was he going to lunge at her? Kidnap her again and take her somewhere else? Her whole body flinched and her still-dripping coat flung water as her hind end slammed into the wall from the force of the recoil. But no, sound was coming from between his teeth now - he was just talking to her, not even moving toward her.
Comprehension flickered behind Kalypso's eyes as he told her about the Indian camp. He hadn't killed the poor creatures, hadn't skinned them, hadn't even cured their hides himself; he'd let the humans do all the work for him. He hadn't even stolen the pelts, if the camp had been truly abandoned. The only thing she could fault him for, therefore, was using them to try to comfort her. Well, that and kidnapping her and leaving the damn pots out for her to trip over. She let out a hiss of air as she felt sticky warmth leak down her already injured leg. At least her wounds had been isolated to one place. "Wait!" she called as she looked up and saw him slipping away. Her ears rang with her own voice; she should be quieter, she wasn't used to speaking in a cave. What exactly she had wanted him to wait for, Kalypso didn't know. But if he was going to be her only source of food and water - if she was going to go home to her baby one day - she had to at least keep him placated, didn't she?
Wracking her mind for something to say to him (she didn't want to give up her name just yet, it was all she had) Kalypso thought back to their encounter on the beach. She'd been checking over his body for something, something, but she couldn't remember what it was... "Were you actually hurt?" she asked, taking a step forward to lean on her forelegs. What had been so wrong with him that she had allowed herself to get close to him in the first place? If he had said he was bleeding, she would have noticed right away if he was faking. So it must have been something internal or invisible... Glancing around, she saw the glowing slime again. Jellyfish, her mind said through the fog. It was a jellyfish. Her head pounded at the same rate as her heartbeat. She took a few more limping steps and acquiesced to lie down on the furs. Looking pack toward the pool he stood in, it dawned on her. The exit, she thought. It's the exit. I should have let him leave. But another part of her mind told her that she was not seafolk; it would be suicide to try an exit so obviously exclusive of her own body type. Somehow, though, he had gotten her into this cave.
She would have to make him leave again. It had been so stupid to call him back; if she wanted to escape, she would need a chance to explore. Unless... "Where are we, anyway?" she asked, voice even. "What is this place?"

This was frustrating. So frustrating. He hated when people treated him like a monster. Sure, he had his dark side. But, everyone did. Everyone had a part of him that was just utterly dark. Even the happiest person in the world could be a total... well... Shaking his head some, he continued down into the dark depths, his eyes narrowed angrily. His friend, a green and gray gator, moved up as he went down, pausing on the slope with the top half of his head sticking out. He stared toward the mare for a moment, blinked, before going back down into the water. Kuma paused when she shouted, his head and part of his back showing, everything else under. His head tilted slowly to stare toward the mare, blue eyes locked. His tail flicked under the water, moving it in a small swish. He flicked his ears back, watching her with a rather sharp stare. What was she doing? What did she want.
His eyebrows pulled together at the question. Kuma couldn't believe she had said that. Asking if he was all right. He almost snorted. He'd run into a few jellyfish in his time. He had the scars to prove it. But at the moment, he didn't have any stings. He did have a muscle cramp the other day... Shaking his head, he turned his attention back to the water, staring at it with a dark gaze. "No. Not at the moment. My apologies. I just..." He paused for a moment, before shaking his head and started back down toward the darker depths. Maybe to fish or something. He was getting kind of hungry.. And she had apples and those leaves she could eat. So it wasn't like he was leaving the tanned mare hungry and thirsty.
He paused once more as she continued to talk, tilting his head back toward the mare. Kuma blinked, eyes flickering back toward the blood he spotted. He hadn't hit her that hard... had he? Shifting slowly, he turned in the water and started up toward the rocky land again. The gator familiar moved toward the surface as well, curling up slightly at the edge of the water and the slope, his eyes closing. Kuma seemed to pay no mind to it, and moved toward another pot of water, nudging it over toward her. He turned back, and looked around his treasures, till he found a silk cloth. The stallion glanced at her, shrugging. "An underwater cave. It's the safest place for my treasures. No one knows how to find it, and no one has been able to get down here unless led." He explained. He picked up the silk cloth, dipping it into the water before lifting his head. "You should clean that. I'd offer to help, but you seem quite content in me being as far away as possible." He said, a hint of irritation in his voice, before he turned and started toward the back of the cave once more.

The hot anger and confusion was beginning to slowly drain out of her. Maybe it was the blood dripping from her wound, maybe it was his words or the fact that he didn't seem to think that anything was wrong here. But in the place of the seething mass of feelings that she had had earlier was left exhaustion. Lying there on the furs - they actually did hold her heat, disgusting as the thought was - Kalpyso curled her legs closer to her side as he came toward her with yet another pot. "If we are under water, how am I not drowning?" she asked, a little bit skeptical. An underwater cave? She'd seen caves above water, to be sure, but why would they be underwater? Was it just the way nature had carved them out?
Watching him as he picked up the delicate looking cloth and wetted it, Kalypso frowned. I should probably clean it, she thought, reaching silently over to get the piece of silk. The fabric felt strange in her mouth as she picked it up, soft and smooth, unlike anything she'd ever felt before. She almost dropped it in surprise. At least it wouldn't be some kind of coarse fabric grating against her cut and broken ankle - this would actually feel nice. As he walked away, Kalypso turned her head to place the wet cloth over her wound before looking back at him. "Thank you," she said softly, and went about mopping up the blood on her back leg.
If he was actually leaving, she realized, she'd have to force herself up again, and she wasn't sure she would be able to do it. What she really wanted was sleep - her body was tired and her head was beginning to pound again. Maybe she could do it tomorrow, after some real sleep, not knocked-out sleep... Unless food could wake her up?
Opening the folded leaves carefully, Kalypso flinched as an apple rolled out. For a moment she'd thought it was a red crab or something ridiculous like that. Laughing at herself, she bit into the sweet fruit, though it was covered with a sprinkling of saltwater that clung to its skin like dewdrops. The flavor of the fruit did not entirely wash out the taste of salt, but it was good enough. So good enough. She'd never relished food this much in her life.

Kuma wasn't certain what he should do. On one hoof he wanted her. Wanted her horribly bad. She was lovely, a true treasure. Someone that he could take care of and worship. Someone he could make his own. And on the other hoof... No. No there was only that one hoof. He chuckled softly under his breath, ears flicking as the fins on his head laid flat. He glanced over his shoulder for a moment, when she questioned about the cave. His eyebrow arched slowly, before he turned back forward. He looked around his treasures, and after a few moments, shook his head. No. Giving her a gift now would be a bad, bad idea. She would probably think it a bad mood of his. Or something...
"Hm? Nature. There are thousands of caves under water. Some are like this, where there was an air pocket, and it formed a cave that connects to the water, but has land. It's rather damp, but is a good place to hide my treasure." Kuma stated, before he turned from said treasures. He moved quietly away from the glittering gold and shining gems of jewelry. He would adore her with these later; would give her trinkets and clothes of the finest silk to make her all the lovelier. The thought alone made his tail flick from anticipation and excitement. He glanced down toward her as she washed her leg, eyes flickering toward the blood. He hadn't thinks he had gotten that hurt... "Other caves are filled with actual water, and you could swim in them... but you wouldn't survive in one of those. You'd drown." He stated firmly.
Moving quietly from his spot, Kuma walked over to the mare, though kept his distance at the same time. He dipped his head slightly, his tail flicking behind him, before he tilted his head to stare at her leg. "... I didn't know it had hurt you that badly. Your leg, I mean. Would you like me to get you some form of bandage?" He asked. He could have been a villain, could have been someone who would really, very eagerly done what he willed. He could keep her hear as a prisoner and never care a lick of what she needed. But deep down, Kuma wasn't like that. He was a sweet guy... just utterly selfish. He wanted his treasure, and no one would take it from him; no one would take his treasures from him. Kuma wouldn't allow the mare to leave; wouldn't allow the mare to escape him. He wanted this mare to be his... This mare that he still didn't know the name of, which he just realized. He'd ask her again later, when she was calmer...
