players: Ness, Elvinrod, Strawberry. ((if you desperately want to join, please discuss with either froggy or I, and we can see about working you in. no mean personalities allowed though)) also, have some theme music or even this is also applicable Ness was feeling postively elated. She had been having a blast of a week. She loved all these new creatures she was meeting. She knew life wasn't such that she could go on forever avoiding unpleasantness, but she was making the most out of everyday that brought some fun and warmth into them. She loved sharing her gentle touches and hugs with those who needed them. She felt inspired whenever there were those who truly needed her. She would show up and be their hero. Sometimes, it was nice to just kick back and do something just for the fun of it. Not because anyone needed anything from her. Just because it was a joy to do a thing, sing a song, or eat a yummy.
So it was that she had been fluttering and lowering herself close to the water at the coastal lines. She enjoyed the warm sun on her back and the smell of water in her nose. In fact, the combination of these sensations made her feel this deserved some kind of party. This needed a big bonfire and dancing before the night was over. It wasn't log before she spied what looked like a few others in the distance who had something similar on their minds. She couldn't make out who they were, but that wasn't about to stop her from charging in and insinuating herself into whatever awesome doings were happening.
She landed a bit too hot, and she tumble rolled. At the end of her roll, she popped back up hopping up on her hind feet before trotting over to see what all the fuss what was about. "WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING?" She looked at them eagerly, nosy as can be and totally unashamed.

The morning was young when Strawberry woke his dearest friend and comanion up with those stern words. "Today, we are pirates!" Even though it was nothing but a game to any ordinary boy, he said it with such a serious face, that there was no way to object. "Why yes, Berry. I do believe we are." And so did poor Elvinrod enter another day, as so many before. But he would not complain. What other type of life could he ever have wished for? Except, of course, maybe having a mother to raise him. That would've been nice... But not today. Because today, they were pirates.
The two spent all day roaming for treasure, fighting beasts and trying to lure mermaids into their traps. Of course, there were no actual traps, just some twigs thrown in the shallow waters, but they were certain they would've worked, should a mermaid decide to visit.
And so, when the sun wouldn't be up for many more hours, Elvin thought they'd done all a pirate could do. For one can only plunder so much in a day. "Let's be redskins, Berry." "Yes, let's." Berry went into the water to pick up all the twigs. After all, why would the indians want to catch a mermaid. No, they were going to light a fire to do their war dance around.
Suddenly, a lovely creature landed nearby. It came trotting towards them, the pretty wings glistening in the sun. What was this?
"It's a Wendy Bird! Do we shoot it? I do think we should shoot it. Don't you think we should shoot it, Berry?" Elvin cried out, reaching for his bow. But his mate had his hasitations. "Wendies shouldn't be shot. We must build it a house! Yes, with gay little windows." Elvin walked up to her and went down on his knees, bowing to the sacred being. "Would you like us to build you a house, dearest Wendy? With gay windows and a chimney on top?"

Having arrived just as they had began their game with playing at being red skins, she had at first not hurried to join them. She sat back to watch. Whatever they were playing at; they seemed to be having the most loveliest of time. She grinned from ear to ear. She was delighted to see others out making the most of such a great day with fantastic weather.
Her ears perked up as they made their way to her. She heard something about shooting a wendy bird. It took her a little while they were in fact referring to shooting her. For a moment, she looked a bit worried. She was all for all sorts of fun and games, but she wasn't quite as interested at being shot at. She had started to get up into a position that would let her fly away if need be.
She then was completely bowled over when they came rushing up to her. Something about a wendy bird. Oh right, that was her. "Well, my name is actually Ness and not Wendy; but um.. ok. Do you want me to help build it? I've actually not had a house. I usually don't stay in one place that long. I don't mind to stick around. What's a chimney though? Is it fun?"
She reached down to take Elvin's paw and pulled him to stand up. "Aw... aren't you cute... you don't have to bow down to me. I really am not that kind of lady who requires that." She patted his head at first before pulling him. When he was standing, she bowed to them and coming back up with a smiling face. "So... how do we build a house?"

The rabbit wa startled at first. The Wendy Bird touched him! But then again, she said she wasn't a Wendy, but a... Lady? His eyes shot wide open, as she helped him up. He then turned to his friend and shout. "She's not a bird, Berry! Shes a Lady!" Berry straightened his back proudly, giving off a cocky smile, as usual. "Of course she is! I knew all along. Don't you think I recognise a Lady when I see it?" "Of course! Do Ladies have houses too?" Berry thought for a while before he answered. Did they really? He wasn't sure he remembered, but he then decided they did. "Of course they do! With gay windows and small furniture. It's where they sew dresses and wait for princes to tell stories to. Go fetch the wood, Elvin." "Yes, let's fetch the wood, Berry!"
So the two went and grabbed the firewood they'd collected, for a moment forgetting about the Lady Ness. They were so caught up with finding the best pieces that they didn't even remember what they were for. But suddenly, they stopped. How did they build a house, again?
Berry looked over at Ness, remembering something important, as he'd often do. "You have to sing us a song. About your house." "Yes, sing us a song and we'll build it! Won't we Berry?" "Yes Elvin, that's exactly what we'll do. With a chimney and a little door. If that's what the Lady wants."
They stood there, watching her, waiting. Their paws full of twigs and their minds full of hopes and dreams. Surely, the Lady would show them much gratitude for building her house. And a Lady's gratitude was something special, like a fingerborg.

Ness sat then on her hind haunches. Her wings twitched in the sun casting prisms here and there across the ground. She contemplated about houses. This would be neat to see. When he requested a song, she just stared blankly at him a moment.
"A song huh? Lemme think...." She sat thinking for a few and grew quiet and furtive in thought. When it dawned on her, she recalled a rather interesting song somewhere before. She whistled it, then hummed it. Once she had recalled how it went, she sang for them. ((credits to disney totally taken from snowwhite))
"Just whistle while you work Put on that grin and start right in to whistle loud and long Just hum a merry tune Just do your best and take a rest and sing yourself a song
When there's too much to do Don't let it bother you, forget your troubles, Try to be just like a cheerful chick-a-dee
And whistle while you work Come on get smart, tune up and start To whistle while you work"
After she sang it through once, she went on whistling the tune. Since they were so insistent she didn't actually help but just sing. She tried to sing as best she could. She wanted to do her part and not just just watch them do it by themselves.
"I like to dance too. Wanna see something?" she started to get up and stretch. She was gonna do cartwheels around them, and show off some of her moves while they labored away on this house they intended to build.

They gave eachother a quick nod. Only a Lady could sing like that. Now, they didn't really know how to whistle, so they simply hummed along to the tune. And while the song didn't actually describe the house, they were already sure of how it would be. After all, they already knew the story of the house for the Wendy Bird. And so, they built a house. Just a small cottage, quite shabby looking, even. But it stood up straight. The gay little windows were nothing but small holes, and the door was more the lack of a fourth wall than an actual opening. They didn't have any furnitures or curtains, not even a hat to use for chimney. But Elvin found a nice tree stump that seemed to fit well enough. The two stood back for a moment, admiring their creation.
"It's a lovely house, Elvin." "It's the best house, Berry. Suits a real Lady."
They had been so absorbed by the task that they almost forgot of the Lady for a while. In fact, they never noticed that she stopped singing and started moving about like that.
Elvin tilted his head as he observed her. He had never seen a cartwheel before. "What is she doing?" Though his friend too was confused, he refused to let it show. "She's doing a house dance. Ladies always dance when they find a home. It means she's happy with us. Didn't you know?" Elvin didn't want to be any worse, so he just nodded at the remark. "Of course. My Mother used to do it all the time. Yes she did." He never actually knew his mother, but right now he was sure that she used to dance just like that. After all, she was a Lady too, and that's exactly what Ladies do.
Berry lined up with his friend by the little house, keeping his back straight and proud as he spoke. "Well then, Lady Ness. We have built you a house, with the gayest of windows and a chimney atop. Are you pleased with us? Will you stay?"

Ness seeing they weren't too impressed with her theatrical hand walking did a flip into the air. She then came trotting over to where they stood. Her eyes looked over this little house. Oh, so that's what a house was. It looked good to her, but she was also usually fairly easy to appease. She often didn't require much besides others attention or affection. Both knocked it right out of the park as far as she was concerned.
She walked up to it and stood in the doorway. She looked around at the sides, the windows. She turned around to them smiling happily. "Aw! Thank you guys so much! I never had a house before. Never had anyone build one for me or WANT to build one for me. You two are some swell dudes." She hopped up to them, and she stopped in front of them wanting to hug them both in thanks. She stopped trying to be more considerate of others' personal space. "Um... weird question but.... would you two feel strange if I wanted to hug you? I just totally appreciate you doing this for me. OF COURSE, I'LL STAY!" She meant it. She'd stay at least for some of the foreseeable future. "I couldn't be more pleased with you if I tried."

They watched with suspense as the Lady inspected their gift. They thought that if the house wouldn't please her, she'd fly away. When they saw the smile upon her face they straightened their backs once more, ever so proudly. And all the kind words made them blush so heavily. "Couldn't be more pleased..." The mythical Lady was pleased, and so were they. But there was one thing they didn't quite understand.
Elvin tilted his head in wonder, then turned to his mate. "She wants to hug us, Berry. Can she?" Strawberry scratched his head. He wasn't sure if he remembered what a hug even was. But if it was a Lady's gratitude, they must accept it, or she'd turn sad and leave them. That much he knew. Or atleast thought he knew. "Miss Lady, it would be an honour to accept your hug. Wouldn't it, Elvin?" "It sure would, Berry. A great, big honour."
The two went down on their knees in unison and stretched out their paws, as if though they were expecting an object of some sort. Or a knighting, maybe? It was always hard to tell what went on in those little minds.

Ness beamed from ear to ear. Her eyes sparkled like polished sapphires in the bright sunlight. The sunlight also made her semi transparent wings sparkle like prisms bouncing off of stainglass windows. She clasped her hands together with total delight that they were totally ok with her displays of affection. Not that she didn't want to hug them already, but personal space and all that jazz.
Ness fluttered herself up in the air a tad before skipping over and going to Elvin first. She took him by the paw and went to tug and pull him up into a tight embrace. She also gave him a peck on his cheek. It was so light, it was likely barely felt. It was almost lighter than the brush of dragonfly wings on your arm as they passed by. She whispered when embracing him, "Elvin, you are amazing. I hope we'll be very good friends."
Then, she released him to shimmy and dance over to in front of Strawberry. She took his lion paw and held it close to her chest a moment before flopping onto his big thick mane to hug him. His mane made it a little harder to embrace around the neck, but she sure did try. She ended up mostly just snuggling his head for a moment. Then, she stood back and took a paw from each of them and held them in a paw of hers. She stood there smiling happily as ever and swinging the arm of each of them simultaneously. "Oh, boys... Does this mean... if we have a house.. that we can all be a family? This can be our safe place? Where we can always come and find each other? I've never stayed in one place for long before, but then... I'm not sure I ever had a spot that felt like it was mine. But... this feels like it can be not just mine... but ours."

Elvin looked up at the Lady, only to be met by the thousands of stars and fairy dust sparkling in her eyes, striking him with a feeling he could never quite describe. And her touch was so gently, yet firm all along. It was like a dream. Something he had imagined before, but never thought to be real. And for a second there, he almost thought there was something on his cheek. Something much softer and sweeter than the pink clouds of sunset. And those words. The kindest, most nourishing words that had ever reached his ears. He hardly even noticed when she let go.
Berry looked at his friend and the Lady, filled with skepticism. There was something about it all that seemed rather... risky. When it came to his turn, he drew back a little, but wouldn't let himself get frightened. If death wouldn't scare, neither should a hug. It was sweet. Like watching the mermaids when they think you aren't there, or when fairies dance under the stars. He knew this feeling from before. A distant memory. It did scare him a tad, though he would never admit it, not even under the threat of death. And yet, he somehow wished she wouldn't let go...
The two of them stood there completely awestruck, there arms swinging back and forth to a tune invisible to their ears. How lovely she was. With those eyes of hers, and that eternal smile. Was she even real? Were they really awake? And then she spoke that word, one they hadn't heard for so very long. Family...
Elvin and Berry looked at eachother for a moment, with a nod so firm that all other nods would seem like a shake of the head compared. It was like the stories foretold. Their Mother was here.
"Miss, we will protect this home from all evil. Right, Elvin?" "Of course, Berry. You have my Piccaninny word on it." "Good."

Ness's eyes flashed and dazzled as she thought up a wonderful idea. Her wings fluttered as a mere reflex that lifted her a tad before landing back on her feet. Her tail fluffed and swished back and forth. "I just had the best idea! You know what else we need to do? We should .... plant some trees. Or, bring some other trees closer to here. That way, we can build small hammock beds in them. This way, you two can live in tree boughs with me! You guys wanna live nearby, right? I think you'll protect me better if you're always just right here." She then grinned and purred a happy sound. She stood and swayed her hips back and forth as she clasped her paws behind her back. She hummed to herself as she then moved from a sway into a little slide and glide movement. It was almost like skating barefoot on ice. She made some circles around her cute little cottage made just for her.

The two boys stood proud like toy soldiers, speaking in unison. "YES MA'AM!"
"Elvin, go find us a tree." "Shan't we go together?" "Then who would protect the Lady?" For a short while, they stood there, only looking at eachother. As if a massive argument took place, merely in their eyes. Until, at last, Elvin gave in. "I'll bring a tree, then." "Good."
While his friend was gone, Berry made sure not to let Lady Ness out of his sight for a moment. To him, all the dangers of fairy tales were real, and he wouldn't let any of them get to her. "Don't stand too close to the water. The mermaids are widely awake at this hour, and they get jealous oh so easily. And if you walk in the forest, never go alone. The beasts are hunting the redskins, but they'll take anyone who gets in between. And be careful with the fairies. They don't like strangers." He sat down and watched her dance, while listening to the wind. It sounded calm. No dangers around tonight. It bored him a bit.
Meanwhile, Elvin went sneaking about through the forest. As a Piccaninny and a Lost Boy, all at once, he wasn't quite sure what to look out for. All he knew was that he was quite angry. Why did he have to do it? Hunting for a tree. Absolutely ridiculous! How can I catch something that can't even run away? It can't even bite me! And right now, Berry gets to be with the Lady... It simply wasn't fair. He could go look at trees anytime he wanted, but a Lady, now that was the rarest thing he could ever imagine. I wonder, will she be our mother? He was so busy thinking of the Lady, he almost forgot about the trees.

Ness just continued doing her thing while watching out of the corners of her eyes that wordless exchange that took place between the two boys. She admired that they were able to communicate in such a way. She admired the strong bond that must exist for that to happen. She had already liked them before, but now she was doubly sure she liked these two. Then, again, she liked nearly everyone. It was incredibly hard to make her not like a soul.
When Berry started to give her warnings about various places, she pieced together in her mind the places that left her to go. It wasn't far. She smiled a coy but knowing smile at him. Then, it passed as she wasn't at all about to nag him or pressure him in the least.
His desiring to be around her appeased her. For even she in all her good heartedness was sometimes a prey to vanity and flattery in the weak places of her heart. She delighted to know that others liked being with her. Then, she looked toward the sea when he mentioned the mermaids. "Jealous, huh? You think I'd make them jealous? Does that mean that mean I might be prettier than them? That, they'd be angry with me and try to eat my wings?"
Her eyes blinked a little at the mention of fairies. Wasn't she partially fairy? Her fairy wings gave a faint flap as if to answer her. She then thought if she were a fairy; she must be the strangest of them all. Since she loved strangers. She adored anyone and everyone who crossed her path. She somehow was then standing next to Berry. She just gently touched his arm. "Thank you for warning me! I haven't even met a redskin yet. Hmmmm... Beasts..." She wondered how scary they actually were.

It wasn't before long that elvin found a tree, small and weak enough to be pulled out of the soil and drag along with him. It didn't look very mighty, and surely wouldn't support the weight of anything larger than sparrow, but he somehow figured it would grow soon enough, with the help of a Mother. After all, wasn't that what Mothers were for? Helping things grow? Yes, that must be it. He was to bring the Mother a child tree.
Berry kept watching her skip about, still quite sour about the boredom of the whole situation. There wasn't a singly thing to protect her from. Not at that moment. And for some reason, he really wanted to protect her, right then and there. But he did enjoy her questions. There were few things he loved as sharing his "wisdom". After all, he was merely a boy. And nothing is as dear to a boy as an exciting story.
"Oh, the mermaids are real wicked, you know. They dislike anyone who can walk, for they cannot. And especially Ladies, as they won't be so easily fooled by their beauty. And they'll be ever so jealous of the things you have that they haven't, be it just a simple comb. But most of all, they're extreamly angered when you steal something from them. That's why you cannot be in their waters, or they might try to drown you." He looked so pleased with himself, for knowing so much. He most certainly was the most clever boy around. There couldn't possibly be a thing he didn't know. But her interest in redskins didn't please him quite so much... "Elvin is an honorary Piccaninny... But not a real one! He can protect you from the beasts though, but not as good as me." He had a very serious look on his face. Like he honestly believed that a giant animal would jump out from the depths of the forest and kidnap their fair maiden, and only he could save her properly.
When Elvin finally returned with his puny little tree, the other two were so close. And the Lady's eyes were so sparkly, and Berry was telling her stories. What if she told stories too, while he was away? And he missed it! Because of a silly tree that couldn't even bite, yet was surprisingly heavy. "I got your stupid tree..." He pouted. "It's really small." "She'll grow it. Right, Miss Lady?"

Ness had fluttered up into the air a little bit crossing her legs and holding onto her toes listening to the information about mermaids. She vaguely wandered if they needed to be hugged really well. Then, she made a face when she thought about the idea of being drowned. "Yeah. I guess being dragged into their abyss wouldn't be too exciting."
She fluttered herself in a circle, and she landed on her hands upside down. She walked around a little bit with her fluffy tail wafting back and forth behind her. "Oh, well I'm sure you're quite an accomplished lion where protecting is concerned. Lions in general tend to be great defenders. Their bodies are really built for it. Just like I'm built for being quick and nimble."
The sound of Elvin's return caught her off guard and surprised her. She fell right on her face into the sand. Her head was stuck a little bit as her hind feet flailed. She tried to say "HELP ME!". However, her face was in the sand, and she quickly closed it to prevent getting too much sand in her mouth. It was bad enough that it was all in her nose. Her hind legs and tail flailed in a little bit of panic.
