It had been a day or two since Cait had arrived at the hospital - she wasn't entirely sure, since that first day had mostly been a drug-induced haze. They'd cut back on the painkillers now, and she'd managed to talk Alex into getting her her damn cell phone - everyone was amazed it hadn't been damaged or stolen in the "mugging in the park" she'd fallen victim to, from which Jude had "heroically saved her." As her story went.
Her family all knew, but there were two people who were like family that didn't.
It was time to fess up to her friends that she'd gotten herself hospitalized with cracked ribs, severe bruising on her back and chest, and a myriad of scrapes, cuts, and minor bruises. She decided to try Lance first. He hated hospitals, so he totally wouldn't come check on her. Right?
'Hey Lance, got into a little incident in the park, at DC Memorial, should be out in a week or so!' She tapped out. Nothing to be alarmed about. At all.

Welp, it must have been opposite day. Because with in an hour a very cross blonde strode into Cait's room. "You are in soooo much trouble. What the hell happened Cait??" He dropped into a chair close to her bed. "Jay's gonna reem you out later." Lance sighed, glancing at the IV tubes and whatever else she had been hooked up to and grimaced. "Seriously. So far the only one who hasn't gotten me into the hospital so far is Gabriel..."

Cait blinked slowly and sat up. "...Lance?" She definitely hadn't been expecting that. She stared at him with slightly wide eyes. "I um, I wasn't expecting you to...come...visit." She coughed. "I went for a walk in the park to clear my head and I got jumped, but I got out of it okay. I mean, somebody rescued me, and I'm alive..." That was good, right? Even if she was hurting and hooked up to a morphine drip and her chest was wrapped tight to hold her ribs in place.

"Really now." The blonde said, waving his hand then propping his head against it. "You didn't expect me to visit someone I've known since elementary school when she lands herself in the hospital? There are somethings that trump a hate of hospitals dear." Another sigh. "Have you called Gabriel? Because I'm wondering if I should start yelling now or wait for him to join me."

Cait coughed, and then winced, because even with painkillers that was a bad idea. "Really, I'm fine, they just want to keep me here for observation, or whatever...The pain drip is totally unnecessary." She sat up, and shrank a little. "No, I didn't call him yet. I was uh, gonna...deal with you guys one at a time?" She offered, her voice slightly squeaky.

"He's gonna be pissy at you ya know? Wouldn't it be better to get the yelling over with???" The blonde sighed and rolled his eye. "Alright... Before I get to the yelling. How are you feeling." He glanced at the morphine drip. "...The good stuff?"

"Yeah, you'd think, but I'll take my yelling in spaced-out bits rather than all at once, thanks," Cait said, her smile a little wobbly. "I'm feeling alright, and yeah, they gave me the good stuff. I, er, cracked my ribs. A little. Apparently that warrants heavy-duty pain killing."

"A little huh? Cause you uh, keep wincing every time you talk." He said flatly as he got up and closed the door. "Ready for the yelling? No? Good." Lance took a deep breathe and just seemed to stare flatly before exploding. "What the hell were you thinking?! What time was it?! And you were out by yourself?! Cait you should have called someone! Hell, I would have come pick you up if you needed a ride!"

Cait shrank back into the bed, her eyes slightly wide. "I'm sorry!" She squeaked, because apologizing in front of yelling was what she did. "I'm sorry, I thought it would be okay, it was just going to be a quick walk and then back home..." All technically true. "I wasn't expecting some crazy mugger! Really!"

"I don't wanna hear it miss! I am by no means done with you yet." Lance waved a hand, silencing his friend. "Even still! How many were there that you ended up with cracked ribs!"

Right then would have been a lovely time for her to come up with some brilliant lie based on years of writing and exaggerate her number of attackers a bit. Instead, what came out was, "two." Faint, soft honesty. "Though let's be fair here. One of them had steel-soled boots or some s**t."

"Tw- Uuuuugh." Lance groaned and scrubbed at his face before dropping back into his seat with a growl as he glared through his fingers at Caitlyn. "So one just kicked you in the chest all night while the other raided your pocket book?!"

"It wasn't all night, but...pretty much..." Cait said. Alright, so no rifling through her pocketbook had been done, since she hadn't, you know, had it with her, but the result was the same, right? "Lance, come on, if I was going to lie wouldn't I at least try for something more convincing?"

"Don't get technical with me. You know what I meant damn it." The blonde snorted. "Again, I've known you my whole life. I know when you're lying damn it.

Cait sank a little. "I was in the park late at night, two people assault me. One knocked me down and stomped on my chest, cracking my ribs. I was lucky enough to have someone hear me screaming and come save me." All of that was true. All she was leaving out was the whole "magical girl" thing, and if she started talking about that, she knew Lance would think she was lying or crazy.
