Nevada had a lot to say at the moment, at least....after the mission to the sahara where time kept repeating itself over and over again. Instead of talking though, she was propped up on Roland's chest and staring intently at his sleeping face.
She wanted to tell him all the things after all, he was her boyfriend (cue little tingles at it because heehee Roland) but it wasn't like she could wake him at....she looked at her phone....4am because she couldn't sleep.
Maybe he'd feel her will for him to talk so they could talk.
yes. Roland wake up.

Roland hadn't been there, he didn't know or understand what had happened. He'd worked the labs, pod duty, training, he wasn't ready to go back out yet. Least in his mind he wasn't. Even with Jordan's encouragement he still felt like he would fall apart in the field.
Instead he continued his slightly unusual life on the island, each night now ending with him in bed, Nevada tucked up against the wall encase he needed to slip out of bed while she continued to sleep. Tonight was different however, a weight rested on his chest as he slept that caused him to squirm a bit before his eyes flickered open sucking in for air for a moment.
"N-Nevada? W-whats going on?" He squirmed below her rubbing at his eyes trying to focus, why was it so dark out?

Nevada waited for him to wake more, reaching up to brush his hair back and then gnawing on her lip. She felt just a tad bit guilty for waking the mist but...
"Roland...Can...Can I talk to you about something?" She sighed, nuzzling on his chest. "I went on a mission and It's been on my mind since I left...." How could she go about saying what she needed?
"The mission I watched....people die...over and over again. Time kept repeating itself you know? We were in Death's pocket watch..." Just remembering the reply was trying on her. First it had been Jake's blood on her coat...as Sherry held the hunter together. Stormy attacking...dying.
The next time it had been Candace....and others.
"I..I'm really scared right now..." God that was hard to admit at the moment but...Just watching those deaths. Over and over again. Repeating the mistakes she made in the first place? Would she make those mistakes here on the Island? "And death offered us a wish....and I wished for my twin...."

It took a bit of wiggling but finally he got an arm free to rub the sleep from his eyes blinking at Nevada's figure fidgeting atop him in the middle of the night.
"That big one? Few days ago?" He was trying to recall the details. "Did something happen?" He was growing more focused sitting up a bit more as Nevada spoke. "Death's pocket watch? Who died? They didn't actually die did they? You didn't die... you couldn't have you... you're here." He was a bit confused to be honest.
"You're here you aren't dead, no one else is dead I haven't seen reports come through saying anyone was." He frowned, "Death himself? Like one of the Horsemen death?" Then she mentioned the twin and a frown crossed his face again. "I mean... what happened when you made your wish?"

"Yes the big one!" She sighed and trailed her hands over his until she could lace them through. Aka She was holding his hand while he rubbed his eyes because she needed too.
"A lot happened...." She shivered and tried her best to cuddle closer, "Yes...We had been sent to the sahara. There was a monster, hidden in the sand surrounding around this pile of of rune rocks. In the middle was a....thing. Triangle?" she tried to remember all the details but with each one, it became blurrier and blurrier.
"it was a big sundial...It was a big sundial in a pocket watch in Death's pocket. Not just death the horseman no...Death. Like death himself." She bit her lip, "He was old...kind of creepy. Was eating candy and offering it to us while he talked to the other horseman."
And then she hesitated...
"I didn't die...But Stormy and Jake and Candace and others did. And it would rewind....and they would be alive. We'd be back right to where we started. In the same position...time would rewind....it was like it was stuck..." She bit her lip again, this time pressing hard enough to leave a imprint.
"Death gave us a wish, he said he would grant one wish. I wished for Alaska to wake and instead...." She held out the fortune cookie, something she had tucked on her person. "He gave us these instead...."

Suddenly her hands where twisted in his, smooth, soft, kind of getting in the way of his ability to clear the sleep from his eyes but he could manage as was.
Squirming about he propped himself up a bit better against the pillows behind him tilting his head at her explanation. "Jordan was lost out there... that was my first big mission..." He recalled the illusion of burning alive in Sylvia's shield.
"So wait the head of the Horsemen is Death or now Death? Why?" His hands twisted around hers a bit tighter his eyes focusing a bit better. Candace died? She seemed like the last person who would fall in any situation. One hand slid free reaching up to run a hand through her hair. "I know you miss her, she will, I promise. I've been keeping tabs on it in the Pod chambers."
Suddenly she was tugging out a fortune cookie, "A... cookie?"

"Ah...Jordan is one of the ones you liked right?" She made a small face and then it returned to a smile, "It wasn't blistering hot....which was weird. You'd think a desert would be..."
"I just think it was death itself...I mean Of course a horseman of death, but like the first? The original? I don't know how else to say it..." She was going to go on when his hand ran through her hair, stopping her from much else.
"I...yes...um..." she ahemed because anymore talk of Alaska would result in Nevada running from Roland, and right into the pod chambers were her twin slept. "Thank...you..." It was a little odd to know that someone cared like she did but...she wouldn't dwell on it.
"I didn't open it cause....I didn't know what would happen." She held it out..."Do you think something will?"

"Well, yeah, I've known him since I was podded, only known Rep an hour long before that." The topic change was a little awkward considering he wasn't sure how much Nevada knew about him 'liking' Jordan. That was for another time. Right now he was worried about her.
"So he was the first death. the biggest one, more then that Medea girl who usually leads them all?" He shook his head at her thank you, "Don't worry, I know how much she means to you." She had a chance to see her family, a family that cared a far bit more then his ever did.
"Well did, did anyone else open theirs? Did anything happen?"

"Oh...Oh I see...." Oh man awkward indeed. So the people he liked were people he had known the longest? She wouldn't let the doubts and worries of settling for her wander in. Plus he went from two guys to her and just...
Nope. Nope she wouldn't.
"I...yes! I think so honestly. He liked us humans...and his horseman but he didn't do anything to us. Just let us sit and watch? it was...different and weird and..." She blinked and looked down at it.
"Yeah but we were in his pocket watch at the time. Maybe nothing would happen while we with him in there...And when they opened it, it just gave them a slip with their wish on it." She sighed. "So probably the same with me...Want to open it instead?"

"Hey... now..." He reached under her chin with a finger tipping it up a bit at her rather meek response about Jordan, his lips brushed over her's gently trying to calm her down before she continued.
"He seems... odd. He doesn't mind hunters killing his own kind? Or trying too I guess." He really should look up the mission reports later.
Carefully he reached over to take the cookie in her hand, "It probably is just paper, if it was dangerous the Island defensive field would have done something or something would have reacted by now." He shrugged at the last part, "If you want me too, I will."

She only slightly blushed at his kiss before settling down. There was no need to second guess herself. Or Roland at this point. But like Otto, Roland had people he liked before her. Like Otto and Eva, if given the chance...would he go to Jordan? Or Rep if they offered it?
She hated second guessing herself over something that was beyond her control anyways.
That being said, she instead lightly head butted him and then sat up. "I don't know, we didn't really talk about it you know? We were just watching him and Medea talk." She waited, "He's the leader now....not Medea. Of the horseman. That's all I remember of the mission. I was kind of drained from watching people die..." she gave him a apologetic smile. "I wish you were there, and then I wish you weren't you know? I'm sad that I didn't have you and glad I didn't have to watch anything happen to you."
She started to braid her hair nervously as he took the cookie. She eyed it and then him. Blind hope wished that the cookie would actually make her wish real. "That's what we thought about horseman and students getting in...and that night where those weird shadow things attacked...." She bit her lip, almost done with the braid...once it was tied, she reached over and cupped his hand instead. "Don't break it. I'll just leave it in your care until I can okay?"

He couldn't offer her reassurance to questions he didn't know lingered, he couldn't prove he cared about her any more then he had in that moment. He was only happy to know she had calmed down a bit, the usual blush, the soft words and silly gestures like a bump of the head.
"Well I guess that might be, good? He didn't really kill anyone so maybe he's more forgiving and won't try to, you know, end the world?" Carefully he wrapped his arms around her as she spoke about wanting him there, he could understand that entirely. "It's okay though, it's done and everyone is okay so no need to be worried right? You made it back, that's all that really matters in the end."
Letting her go he watched her fingers quickly start to work at her hair. A small frown crossed his lips as he shifted in the bed getting up. "You're right, the island isn't perfect, no." He made his way across the room, out of bed and in the light from the one window thanks to the moon Nevada could see the grisly scar running through his shoulder where Tracey and Rep had nearly cleaved it off.
A sign that maybe she need not worry at all about him leaving for either of them.
Roland didn't say anything at first as he reached under his fixed desk, tugging somewhere under it till a hidden box popped out. Very carefully he laid the cookie inside sliding it shut before turning around to sit on the desk.
"It'll be here, when you're ready, and so will I." He smiled a bit, "Promise."

She nodded, snuggling against his hold. Her hands laid on his chest and clutched lightly at his shirt. "Maybe? We could only hope but you know...Maybe Medea will convince him otherwise. After all, she led the horseman into an all out war with us..." That coming from Nevada not knowing about the hunters destroying their islands and such.
"In the end...what happens when we don't?" Nevada sighed. She'd have to admit that this would be her 4am blues time.
When she looked up, from him getting from bed...the moonlight hit just right and gleamed on a long scar on his back....It didn't take much for the mist huntress to be up immediately, running her hand over it.
"Roland...where did you get this?" Because she knew it wasn't from a mission. "And How....."
She reached down to his hand, tugging on it. With the cookie away, it was more of a strong bonding promise between them. For now though, the long scar on his back bothered her.
"Roland...."

"I don't know, only time can tell ya know?" He ran a hand through her hair, avoiding the braids she had made. They where rather cute on her, especially with such long hair to work with.
When she mentioned not coming back he only shrugged, "I guess we just have another reason to fight, someone else to avenge and keep pushing to pay them back for. A reason to keep on living even when it might feel like the complete opposite at first..."
Roland paused glancing over his shoulder as she grabbed his hand. His eyes slid to the side as she spoke. "It was Rep actually, I had a fight with him, he was worried I was trying to steal Jordan from him, we where bickering, I was angry at him treating me like trash because of it and I thought, he likes to fight and spar so lets get it out all of it... he nearly took my arm off because of it."

"Rep did this?" Her hand ran over it again, feeling she small indent of scar tissue on his skin. Even with weapons, the mark was heavy and angry and there. She didn't have a scar on her own body, and seeing one on Rolands was...
"He thought you were going to steal Jordan?" She raised an eyebrow, "I didn't realize people's affections could be stolen so easily. It sounds like Rep is insecure about his relationship with Jordan?" That or Roland was secretly seductive mastermind who could woo people to his whim. All second guessing fell to quiet chuckles...Roland a seductive mastermind. She couldn't even...
Instead, she rested her chin on his shoulder, nuzzling at his neck. "But he didn't and I think the scar gives you charming character Roland." She sighed. "I guess I shouldn't worry then too about you going off with Jordan or Rep either..." She smiled. "Also you're very brave. I fought Rep too, he didn't take my arm off but it was still terrifying."
