Agniri had decided that naptime was for her siblings, but not her. They might all be keinlings and she might have hatched last of the clutch but she was still mighty and that meant no naps! The little feathered Firani drakein had instead marched off in search of adventure, or at least something interesting she could tell everyone about later. She was too small to be too far from the central hub of her pack's territory though, every time she tried to venture out and see the world one of her kin would show up out of nowhere and haul her all the way back to her parents.

In the distance Agniri spotted an unfamiliar orange figure, they were drakein in shape but lacked any feathering. Curious about the stranger but protective of her home she walked forward, feathers puffed out. Unbeknownst to Agniri a large ball of fluffy pink was intimidating to no one.

The stranger seemed unphased by Agniri's attempt to make herself look big and intimidating. In fact the keinling was pretty positive that the effort had been a waste given how relaxed the other drakein looked. That was unacceptable as far as the youngster was concerned, she was small still but the strongest of her clutch siblings and she had heard the whispers of potential leadership one day. Agniri would defend her clan's territory and show she wasn't to be messed with.

The small pink feathered drakein bounded forward with a challenging hiss "Who are you?" she demanded .

"I'm not having a nap and going on an adventure," Agniri replied. The little keinling was shifting about on her feet as she spoke trying to find a pose where she looked as confident and worthy of respect as her mother often did. This Grrel, who didn't even have feathers was sort of interesting, although the firani drakein still wasn't sure she approved of her being here. For now she'd just keep a close eye on the much bigger female.

"I'm Agniri," the keinling informed Grrel as she tucked her small wings back against her body. It was tiring to hold them out trying to look big, one day though she wouldn't have to. one day she would tower over other keinlings like Grrell did with her.

"How long did it take you to get so big?" Whenever Agniri asked her family when she would be big like them they always replied 'when you are ready' which wasn't even a real answer.

There was a thoughtful look now in Agniri's violet eyes. Napping was important for growing up big and strong? " Naps are boring though and there has to be something interesting nearby." The world would simply be far too unjust for all the good and fun things to be far away or outside of her clan's territory. With a sulky huff Agniri flopped down onto her belly and stared up in frustration at Grrel.

"I'm gonna be big someday for sure, no matter what." Her father did say that where there is a will, there is a way and the tiny keinling was simply going to will herself into the strongest and biggest drakein her clan had ever known.

"Is that a challenge?" Agniri asked, a defiant tone in her voice. She would rise to any challenge, walk to any place and fight any beast that stood in the way of her goals. Later though, because the sun and the ground were warm and laying on them made her feel too comfy and content to much right this second.

As for the guards who caught keinlings who ran off from the nest, Agniri had a feeling one of her uncles or cousins would be along shortly. They never let her have any fun!

"Hmm? Feathers are soft and bendy and they feel tickly when the wind blows on them." Agniri liked having feathers and was pretty sure they were better than having fur or skin or scales all of which looked boring and not nearly as nice to touch. She had touched fur before and it could be soft but also sort of itchy and it just did not seem to suit her. Although it might be sort of funny to see a drakein covered in fur.

Off in the distance a figure slowly approached, a large drakein that walked with a sightly unusual gait.

Agniri caught sight of him and gave a sulky huff. She was having fun with Grrel, why did Lochan have to come and ruin it?

" That's my uncle Lochan, he's going to make me go home even though I'm not ready." Agniri was tired by this point but this stranger was so interesting and she might never see them again! It really wasn't fair, when Agniri was in charge her children would not have to follow such strict rules.


Lochan, a large copper coloured Alikein issued a friendly whistle as he approached the pair of females. He was on a mission to retrieve Agniri and was grateful she had been found by an older drakein not intent on causing her harm. As it was the keinling would likely be aggressively preened by her mother as punishment when she was back in the nest.
