There are a few things to know about G.E.A.R. In the sheaths are 12 blades, 6 in each sheath while every soldier is equipped with two sheaths at the hips. Since the Colossal's skin is so tough, each blade can break after a few uses on the Colossals. The whole concept is that the blades can attach to the trigger for the cables and be used as a hilt.
