It'd been quite literally weeks of intense training. Not normal training, mind you. According to Quan, it was a play of rehabilitative training, considering the considerable injury he'd sustained in his last dragon encounter. The blonde even had the scars to prove it - a souvenir courtesy of an Ysali dragon. One that the boy was, in the very recesses of his mind, waiting to encounter again. To get even.
His frustrations with the dragons had mounted, however, so today was a day spent in horrid silence. He'd not spoken any words beyond the respectful greetings he'd grown accustomed to giving to Quan, his mentor. He sat and read, studied, practiced maneuvers with his axe, ate, did physical strength training, but all without speaking a word. Eventually he excused himself and hurried into the forest.
And he wandered for a while until he came upon a cave. It was dark and likely damp inside, but that didn't seem to bother him. Quickly lighting a small torch for his personal use, the boy gripped the handle of his axe tightly and hurried on inside. It wasn't long before the proprietor of the cave came and gave him a warm welcome - a Bognotti, no less. Memories of his first encounter with the Bognotti came to him. The stinging bites it'd given him while he was only trying to get past it to find his friend's necklace, and the boy's fiery red eyes narrowed. When it came at him, he quickly dodged the creature's jaws and swung his axe in a quick, downward movement. The giang spider didn't have enough time to dodge the oncoming blade and was quickly immobilized. Ainsley let a bit of his frustration out on the poor creature, although it was long dead before Ainsley had finished hacking into it for the thirty-second time. With a bit of the spider's gunk dripping off of the blade of his axe, Ainsley pressed onward into the cave...
