Edited. Gaia Name: Mon Chi Phoenix Name: Carter Lithfell Nickname: N/A Age: 26 Gender: Male Sexual Orientation: Bisexual Personality: Carter is a very externally motivated person. Always analyzing, always thinking out loud, and usually experimenting. He firmly believes in the logical solution to almost every aspect of his life, which at times may make him seem heartless. Carter's emotions are very internal, and very deep. Any form of catharsis would be extremely disorienting and confusing for him, in which case he normally ignores it. Appearance: 6'2", Slender. He has pronounced collarbones, and typically wears a white shirt, black jeans, and a lab coat. He carries himself with an undeniable certainty. Ability: Carter's main power is the ability to temporarily borrow another user's ability, as long as he has their permission. His secondary power is particle manipulation in his immediate area, as long as it is not a living creature, and relies for the most part on his primary (with the exception of shifting through objects, and identifying materials). His "borrower" ability is just that, the ability to temporarily use a weaker verson of another user's power for less than a minute. However, if the other user is making direct contact while allowing him to borrow the power, the borrowing is sustained as long as contact is made between Carter and the host user. With his particle manipulation ability, he is able to manipulate, change, and convert materials at a subatomic level, shift trough solid objects, and identify any material simply by touching it. However, his powers are near useless without his "borrower" ability, with the exception of shifting through objects and identifying materials. The nature of his power varies with the energy he uses to fuel it. He cannot, however, use energy that is offset by another user unless the energy is given willingly. Example: the heat energy put off from a fire type attack, nor the fire itself can be utilized unless the user allows him to. Bottom line, he can only use particle manipulation through the use of his "borrower" ability.Occupation: Particle Physicist Bio: Carter faded from everyone he knew from Dawn Academy. He wanted no ties, nothing to remind him of the chaotic events that transpired. During the battle, he was gripped tightly by fear, and hadn't properly developed his powers for use in combat. He remembers seeing students and teachers in their last fights, falling for the last time. He ran, as far as he could, and ended up hating what he perceived as a weakness. Carter learned in the following years how to focus his power, and through the use of his power and his intellect in a lab, he believes that he can eventually turn back time, and prevent the events that transpired. He has worked tirelessly for the past 6 years, nearly delusional, and in secrecy. But he has now hit a point where he will require assistance from the alumni from the Academy if he wants to proceed.

As it is, the idea of having a incredibly powerful ability with an equally limiting drawback isn't actually acceptable in this instance. You have the ability to essentially change the chemical composition of anything as long as you have borrowed an ability. Basically the moment you touch someone you can turn the air in their lungs to poison, or their cloths into molten metal. Also, particle is undefined. If particle refers to any subatomic particle you could cause fission by ripping apart atoms, or even fusion, and that's not okay. If you're referring to atoms that's still a very very powerful ability. If you're referring to electrons, that's electricity and magnetism which is its own separate power. If you're referring to neutrons you're creating isotopes which is also not provable. The ability to change the chemical composition of something you touch would still be pretty powerful on its own even without the ability to manipulate amounts of matter, and those would have to be separate powers. A character can only REALLY have one power of that magnitude unless they were truly offshoots of the same thing and didn't add any major strength to the power.
shifting through objects is pretty much its own ability. It's not related to changing the molecules of something, otherwise the particles would all react mid way through. The characters that can do it usually have flight, or some other low level accompanying ability as its only accompaniment.
while i understand the idea of identifying the elemental composition of something would be associated to changing the composition of something (these two things together would make one power if limited better (right now it's too strong, though)), in these terms it is too vague. It could be used to identify artifacts, and that would break the game fast. ((this is the only thing that would ever effect matter on a sub-atomic level, and only in the instant something changes from one element to the other. Free manipulation of subatomic particles is not acceptable cause nuclear physics.)
the borrowing itself would have to be its own ability, with nothing else. It constitutes 100% of your store-able power space. It would have to make a copy of the power, not eliminating it from its source. You wouldn't have to limit it beyond the time limit and that it's 1 power at a time, but it's a stand alone power and fills up too much space to have other abilities. .
On you're own, you're deadweight and too weak. all it would take is for you to get one ally, though, and you instantly become too strong.
the way i determine it is i assign each part of the ability a percentage score from 1%-100%. A character can only have powers that add up to 100% of a player controlled power (some plot npc's are stronger, but that's because they are supposed to be fair against multiple students).

Assuming I post it here. If not I will move it. smile
Gaia Name: Blade Aramaku Name: Raven Nickname: Steel Age: 23 Gender: Male Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual Personality: Quiet and calculating defines Raven's attitude. He is not one to quickly trust a person nor is he one to befriend another. His typically apathetic mood keeps him out of trouble but should it stir he does not hold back. When Raven does speak though it is usually either advise or humor. Appearance: Raven has black hair with strips of white that reach down to his shoulders. He is not the broadest man but he does have some build due to his vigorous training. He is often found wearing a long black Kimono and his sword fastened to his side. The only brightness to his dark figure are pale blue eyes that stare sharply at whoever confronts him. Ability: Raven's intense martial arts and mental training has rewarded him with a sort of zen state of mind.
This presence of mind lets Raven shrug off pain that would normally cripple him. This is done simply by putting the feeling out of his mind and focusing on the task at hand. Wounds, such as cuts, bruises, and even some lacerations and minor concussions can be more or less totally removed from his mind.
It is not full-proof, however. Greater injuries such as broken bones, fractures, impalement, and more serious concussions will still be felt but not as much.
Raven is not able to use this ability for extended periods of time either. He is usually able to muster in a minute before losing total control and the pain taking hold of him again. This gives him enough time to either finish a fight or run before collapsing in exhaustion.
This ability does not affect other symptoms of injury like nausea, dizziness, or the progression of poison. It only minimizes the pain he feels for a short period of time. He is still subject to pain, injury, and poison. Occupation: Aikido instructor. Bio: Raven was born in a small house to happy parents. His father was an intelligent man and his mother was the most peaceful woman one could ever meet. Together they raised Raven in a rather pleasant environment. This along with his intelligence (from his father) and calmness (from his mother) tends to give him his cold and apathetic vibe. He was taught good manners and grew up selfless and strong, however he never learned friendly. Extra: Raven is not a "dark hero of lore" guy. He is simply quiet.

As stated above, the power is indeed exploitable. One way to counter this is to state said restrictions. Like how long one of these short bursts is and how long you must rest or not use your power before doing said burst again. Depending on said restrictions would determine whether or not this power is exploitable to the point of 'god modding'

Thank you two for clarifying. I have redone the ability to be less auto-dodgy and more descriptive on restrictions and the ability. It has a time limit, restrictions, limitations, and a purpose. If there is anything else you want to see changed about it just let me know. smile

About how many times can he ignore the pain or is it just during the time that the ability is active that he ignores the pain (AKA - If the power turns off does he start feeling the pain again)

raozspaz About how many times can he ignore the pain or is it just during the time that the ability is active that he ignores the pain (AKA - If the power turns off does he start feeling the pain again) It is only during the ability and afterwards he is barely effective in battle. "He is usually able to muster in a minute before losing total control and the pain taking hold of him again. This gives him enough time to either finish a fight or run before collapsing in exhaustion. "

Quote: Gaia Name: Malix123 Name: Holly Cromwell Nickname: Age: 34 Gender: Female Sexual Orientation: Straight Personality: Holly is a feisty strong willed stubborn woman. She is very decisive in most situations. She is very much a caring person though and is highly protective of her son. Ability: Psychic Empathy - Holly is able to detect how another person feels and get a very rough idea of base thoughts. The person would have to be within two yards of her for her power to reach. Occupation: High School Teacher Bio: Holly Cromwell spent her time as a child as a wild crazy aggressive fighter. She was returned to her family on more than a few occasions by the police. Her mother was worried of what would ultimately become of Holly. Holly’s mother’s last hope came as a letter for her to go to a private school in northern Washington. This school turned out to be a small private school for teaching youth how to use their powers safely; it was founded by a previous student of Dawn Academy. While at this school at first Holly remained aggressive in dealing with people however one of the instructors helped her correct her attitude. While she kept her passion this teacher taught her how to channel that properly and how to better deal with her anger. In truth her anger and attitude was due to lack of control of her powers so that was a big help once she learned control. Though she loved her time at this school it was short lived. Just after her second year had finished a tragedy struck with the murder of a few students at the hands of normal people. The response was far worse when the students attempted to fight back against protesters outside. The headmaster did stop the students however the fallout led to the school’s closing. What help she gained from going to this school did remain and aided her significantly in the years after. She kept it a secret as to the reason for getting the scholarship to that school and its reason for existence from both her mother and her little brother, Seth. Which is why when Seth got a letter from Dawn Academy Holly urged him to go; she figured that it would help him as much, possibly even more, than her school helped her. While Seth was away Holly met a very interesting man. She had a whirlwind romance with him, which in the end produced a child, however to her surprise, and annoyance, this man disappeared shortly after. She refused to put a great deal into searching due to she had more to worry about than one deadbeat who would knock her up and then leave. When Seth returned after all the chaos at Dawn Academy and telling them to move to Dusk City Holly was at first against it but she came around in the end. Since arriving at Dusk City Holly has gotten a job at the local High School and teaches the class that has the highest number of power user students in the school. Some of the other teachers warned her to be careful about them, but she just laughed it off saying that she could more than handle them. Skills: Holly has spent her free time practicing parkour to keep in shape as well as racing her brother around a specific route from their home to a beach a good distance from their house. As well using her empathy as a learning tool and taking a few college courses she has become very adept at reading faces and body language. There we go.

The power is 'mind affecting' but seeing as how it does not cause any mind altering effects or change someone against their will, I see no reason to not accept this profile. ^_^ Go have some more fun with your new character Malix XP
