Nimbe stretched her back in the warm dirt, narrowed eyes opening and closing lazily as they watched Pride Rock upside down. Her green and white coat was of little use as camouflage amongst the tall dry grass blades that surrounded her but the young lioness had no interest in hiding either.
The afternoon was too hot and uninviting to encourage any movement from her part and after the long morning hunt – the Pridelands had many mouths to feed – she had been exhausted and sought a relaxing spot. Nimbe knew she would soon have to find a new place in the shade.
She sent a grumpy look at the sun, not entirely pleased by the prospect of relocating but very grateful for the fact she’d been born with a light-colored coat.

Koios was wandering, take slow and steady steps as he made his quick recovery from the shock of the sun. He had moved from shade to the glare of the flaming orb to find some company and realized quickly how much he would probably regret this should no company be available. The only comfort as he moved was the warm, dry dirt on his chilled paw pads..
---
The wandering took a short period of time before he stood near the most recognizable rock in all of the Pridelands, it stood tall and proud and directly in his path. Though the sun beat down on him he took a moment to remember his childhood and the fun he had with a cub he would never forget. The male cub was likely off causing trouble, even as an adult.
He began moving again, eyes on nothing in particular.. until a familiar shade of green came in and out of view amongst grass, dried from the intense heat of the home he grew up in. Though the name was not in his mind at the time he knew that color. Familiarity fueled him and he pushed forward slowly, as not to startle the female gazing about.

It took her a while to realize someone was approaching her but she recognized him even if he was upside down from her current perspective. His paws looked massive as they moved closer and the black was more pronounced but the mane was definitely the biggest change. He didn’t look much like her brother Juadoa now.
“K-k…” His name. She’d forgotten his name. It had been long since they’d last played together but Nimbe still felt terrible. He’d been one of those few cubs that had never called her green color “ugly”, “weird” or simply “unusual” and she’d always associated him with a warm and happy feeling. When she was with Koios, she’d even felt a little proud of being green. Koios!
“Koios!” she said happily as she rolled over abruptly. Her jewelry fell to the ground but she didn’t even glance in its direction. “It’s me, Nimbe!” She hoped he would remember. He had to!

He took a few moments before her eyes truly landed on him to puff up a bit, show off that fully grown mane and properly set pelt. He kept himself neat and tidy, though he wouldn't admit to tending to it if out right asked. He considered it one of his more feminine moments that he would keep to himself. But nonetheless he was dang proud of how he grew up.
"Nimbe!" He blurted, maybe a little too suddenly, a grin a mile wide grew largely on his maw and he became noticeably more excited. Not having remembered her name at first made him feel horrible, she basically gave him an out, which he was grateful for. The silence that followed allowed him to get a good look of her, taking the time to admire her pelt, as he had the first time he had met her.
"How have you been? It has been far to long!"
As he spoke he dropped his rump and relaxed a little.

“I’ve been great! I’m a huntress, now.” Nimbe moved closer and sat down in front of the white lion, grinning widely. She lifted one paw to the base of Koios’ mane to touch the long green hairs with one claw and laughed. “You’re huge and your mane…! It’s green now! It wasn’t green, was it? I don’t remember it being green!” She paused and looked up as if finally realizing something was missing before her gaze fell to the ground. The green lioness quickly spotted her little metal trinket and pulled it closer, nimbly twisting it around her paw.
“What about you? What have you been doing?” she asked suddenly, bright yellow eyes rising to meet Koios’ again. It felt like an eternity since they’d last seen each other.

Koios listened, smiling the entire time.
"A huntress, congratulations!" He said, his words wavered slightly as her paw reached up and grazed his mane to touch the beautiful green fur that weaved itself in and made its home. He suddenly felt closer to Nimbe on a personal level, the color she felt so worried by before, was now branded on him and he puffed out his chest in pride. "No, the green wasn't there before, but I was gifted with it." He smiled proudly, trying to offer a reminder that, no matter what others said, she was beautiful and should feel just the same as he did.
"I have been about, my path is an undecided one.." Worry settled in his mind, he was indecisive, but tried to be. He knew his job wouldn't have to be permanent, but didn't want to settle into one. Soon, he reminded himself, have to decide soon.. "With indecision in mind, I have been simply trying to do what needs to be done. Helping with what I can." The smile he started had never failed, never faltered and continued through.
"You seem much happier now." Though that smile remained, with this question is softened to a more sensitive look. There were days where he'd think about her, many days, where he simply worried, that what those other cubs had said would hurt her so bad emotionally that she would take physical action. She seemed fine, but he wouldn't be satisfied until he was sure.Mogami I am so sorry about how late this is! ):
And I am not positive how I missed the quote in the Pridelands event to be honest..

“Maybe you caught from me.” Nimbe offered with a silly grin, still looking beside herself with joy. It still amazed her how a pride could be so large that she wouldn’t see a particular lion for so many months.
“Ah, well. I feel happy.” She said somewhat sheepishly. “The pride keeps growing and I’ve made many friends.” With the great number of newcomers constantly joining the Pridelands, Nimbe’s bright color had quickly become one the more… normal coats around, something that she’d been immensely glad to discover. And now that she was an adult, no one really said anything offensive in her face. She thought she’d noticed a silent prodding on Koios’ part, unspoken words that wondered if she was still being teased for her green color. He was, after all, one the few lions who really knew her so that was to be expected.
As for his indecision, well… She didn’t really know what to say. There weren’t that many roles available to them to be honest.
“Well… do you think you want to do something more physical like being a Scout or a Hunter? Or maybe you’d rather become a Storyteller or a Nanny?” The idea of Koios surrounded by cubs pulled a sudden laugh out of her, one that she couldn’t choke down and pass off for a cough no matter how creative or quick witted she was. “I’m sure you’ll be great at whatever you choose.”
