Kettil had parted ways with Hel at the train station, he made sure to be obnoxious as possible before he left by hugging her until she threatened to neuter him. Then he took a few moments to stop at a couple of places before the shops closed down and he'd have to wait for the next day. It wasn't that he was impatient, but he simply wanted to get everything done so he wouldn't have to worry about it while his tattoo healed.

He'd met up with his Familiar outside the dorms, after a quick session of chatter he learned that Endzela was going to hunt a little more for the evening and to not expect her back until much later. He gave her a brief little kiss on the top of her feathered head before he let her go, after he watched her fly off he then wandered into the Reaper Dorms.

The Muut walked the familiar path to Freya's room, a room he essentially shared with her and as such he didn't bother knocking as he wandered in and closed the door behind him, "Freya? You home yet?" Kettil hadn't gotten a good look around the room just yet.

Freya was home, in the barest sense of the word.

Her body was curled up on her windowsill, wrapped tightly into a deformed ball, where her wings allowed it. Her arms were tight around her knees, and her eyes were unfocused, staring out into the night. But that was all that could be said for her presence. Until Kettil's voice pulled her back, Freya had been very much not home.

She turned her head and looked at the door, hollow and red rimmed eyes meeting his. Her mouth twisted into something that looked like it was meant to be a smile, but failed.

"Over here." She let her unbraided hair fall, partially covering her face to hide all of the emotions warring within her, as she called him over.

He used to be rather oblivious but it seemed that had changed within him. Once he might have thought nothing of it if she behaved this way toward him but now he knew better and it made him feel a little uneasy. Something had happened. Someone had hurt Freya.

Kettil put parcels aside for now as he almost immediately went to her side, "What's wrong?" His tone pretty much said everything, he wasn't going to drop it and he certainly wasn't going to accept a 'nothing' from her.

Perhaps, once upon a time, Freya might have tried to soften the blow. Or maybe she wouldn't have told him at all. But her heart was an open book that she'd let Kettil read for too long, and she promised herself long ago that she would never close it on him. This was no exception.

Her body leaned in to rest against him, even though her skin felt like it burned anywhere that it touched him. Betrayer, her nerves hissed. You're not worth his love. You don't deserve any of this. You deserve to burn.

"I saw Herryk today." Blunt, and vague, she started with the truth behind her red-rimmed eyes. While the day, and its consequences, had taken its toll on her, the truth was boiled down to four little words. Everything else was just circumstance.

I saw Herryk today.

These were words he wasn't expecting to hear in some far off fantasy realm where things never happened to them and thus things never swooped in to remind both of them that there was a life before they had each other.

Yet there it was plain as day. Kettil didn't push her away and if anything he draped his arms around her slowly and tentatively, just in case it got too much for the both of them. His veins felt as if someone had replaced the blood with a vat of ice water, "Oh yeah?" Kettil's voice came off soft, distant. Very troubled.

"What happened?" He wasn't going to drop it. Even if it hurt he wanted her to let it out.

The short and painful laugh that escaped her when he asked what happened was instantly regretted. She wasn't laughing at him, she was laughing at the answer. "What happened." Her laughter turned into a soft, quiet sob, burying her face into his chest. She couldn't say another word until the sobbing stopped, but it only took a minute before she regained enough composure to at least answer him.

"Yeh knows the hunters? Those false reapers with their fancy weapons that they makes out of us? I already suspected they'd taken him and turned him into one of them." She let out a hollow sounding chuckle. "What I didn't expect was that he still lives insides the weapon, Kettil. He's in there, he can't remembers anything, but he's alive inside of a weapon."

And for the first time, she actually felt sorry for Herryk. His body was gone, and his memories were stolen.. she shuddered at his fate.

"He doesn't even remembers me."

Kettil listened and quietly brushed fingertips through her hair as he tried to absorb it all. There was a dark part of him that was glad that the other boil no longer remembered his Freya. She no longer belonged to Herryk or so he felt but that might have been a twinge of the jealousy speaking. He clenched his jaw to keep the thoughts locked behind his lips.

"What would it have changed if he had remembered you?" Kettil asked instead, choosing words and thoughts that felt ultimately safer.

He bowed his head a little, "Would you have loved him again? Would you have followed him? Would you have tried to save him? What could it have helped if he remembered you..." Kettil's heart suddenly heaved into a shuddering ache.

Freya's head turned, very slowly, up to look at Kettil. In her eyes, there was a confused shock, a wonderment at the question. It was fair of him to ask, he deserved to know. At the same time, she'd never expected him to. She just thought he knew.

"Nothing would change," She whispered, very carefully. At first, it might have seemed that the answer was what Kettil wanted, but it really wasn't. "I tolds yeh this, so long ago. Hooter, I never stopped lovings him. Even when I thought he was dead, I tolds yeh. I will always loves Herryk." Her brows furrowed, a sudden fear welling up inside of her. Kettil had accepted the answer long ago, but things were different now. They were far more serious, and he was committing so much to her..

She touched the ring on her finger, and her breath came short. Her tears sprang fresh and new, as her heart was gripped with anxiety. She looked away, her body shaking in his arms. "And I did tries teh saves him. I tried, and I failed. That is why he is a weapon, now. I failed him, and now I'm probably failing yeh."

He saw the look and it hit him pretty hard and yet...

"I might put on a brave face but I do get scared, Freya." There was a pained tone to his voice, "I have faith in you but sometimes...It is nice to be reassured verbally, hm?" After all why did they tell each other, in different ways, that they both loved each other?

It was reassuring that the other would never leave what was now forming into a duality.

His mind raced with thoughts as he felt her shaking and his response was to tighten the hold on her now rather than letting her go, "I am sorry. You're not failing me at all. I just ... I know you won't stop loving him or caring for him. I realize...You wanted to save him and that it must hurt but..."

The Muut's brow furrowed a little, "Herryk made a choice to push you away. Herryk made a choice to become a weapon. You're letting those choices hurt you so much and then I..."

Kettil wasn't even sure he was saying the right things anymore.

"I get angry at him. Not you," He said softly. "Why can't I be angry and jealous of a boil that hurts you when he was supposed to be the love of your life at one point? Why can't I want to tear him apart when he breaks your heart time and again...?"

Even as Kettil tried to convince her that this was all Herryk's choice, she found it harder and harder to believe. She found it harder to remember the way the boil had looked at her, when he walked, of his own volition, through that portal. No one would willingly choose a life like that. No one could have been that unhappy.

Could they?

"I never says yeh can't be angry at him." Her head dropped back down, burying itself into his chest. "There's no reason why yeh can't be angry at Herryk, whether he deserves it or not. I'm angry at Lark. I'll always be angry at Lark. Even if yeh becomes best friends with her again, I will probably always hates her. And I don't knows if she deserves that or not." Freya smiled weakly. "But it sure makes me feels better."

It was petty, and selfish, and maybe they'd grow out of it one day. But for now.. "He wasn't hurtings me." She paused, and thought about it for a second. "Well, no, technically he was hurtings me, because he is a weapons, and that is his job now.. but he wasn't tryings teh hurts me." Her hand reached up, pressing against her cheek gently. "And neither was his hunter." This was the greatest, and most tragic revelation of all. She looked back up at Kettil, and a strange, manic sort of hope sparked in her eyes. "Hooter, what if.. we're wrong abouts them? What if they're not all.." Visions of Jeremy flooded her mind, making her throat close up with fear. But she had to believe that Tuck was different. Maybe.. he was different because of Herryk. And that was why all of these horrible things happened. For all she knew, Herryk could have been the start of a wonderful change within the Hunters.

She wanted to believe that. For all their sakes.

Kettil just leaned and kissed the top of her head. He couldn't promise her that he wouldn't at least try to talk to Lark again and so maybe it was a lost cause to be so worried and frantic about Herryk. He couldn't help it, however, because the last time he'd seen the other boil there had been real intent on hurting each other after a point. Such things poisoned a perspective and made things seem darker than what they were.

There was a quiet soft humming sound from him, "I can't say for sure I know one way or the other, TĂșkut. I just know that, like anywhere else, there are good and bad people. There are probably good Hunters and bad Hunters. I never really dealt with them except at a couple of functions..."

The fall of the Horsemen's Isle being one.

Kettil just let out a deep sigh as he rested his head against hers, "Just don't do anything drastic to test your theory that could take you away from me. I don't know what I would do if you suddenly weren't by my side."

The kiss to her head felt like Kettil was just humoring her. Her shoulders sagged just a little bit, but when he spoke, she felt a subtle sense of relief. Kettil was understanding and open enough to believe, just like she did, that there were good and bad in any situation. Even.. maybe.. hunters. Her heart swelled with pride, and she wrapped her arms around his waist, hugging him viciously tight.

"Thank you." She whispered, her voice wavering. "For believings in the impossible."

Her sadness all but melted away in the light of this new development. She couldn't help but feel the slightest bit empowered that she could believe in something again, and proud of both boils. Kettil, for believing with her, and Herryk, for giving up everything to be a beacon of change. If anybody could do it.. she knew he could.

"Tuck - he is the hunter who has Herryk, now - he says he wanted teh sees me again, teh talks more, some day. I trusts him. He won't takes me away. I am not as strong as Herryk was," She grinned. "I can't gives up my life teh help makes hunters better. I would fail miserably. Only Herryk had the powers teh does that."

"Welcome," he said simply. He didn't feel that he was humoring her as much as he was showering her with affection and showing that he felt that she was capable of whatever she set her mind to. The hug was met with a sort of careful shifting of his body as if he was trying to avoid having her touch his back even though she mostly hugged his waist.

The next set of words almost had his insides screaming and cursing but instead he just gave her a smile, even though his eyes were saying completely different things. Did he want her to see Tuck again? No. Not really.

"Stop saying you aren't strong enough. Just stop, Freya. You're as strong as anyone I know." He said firmly deciding to stray away their newest point of contention which was the Hunter and his Weapon.

She winced when Kettil reminded her just how much he hated insulting herself. So she put her fingers to her lips, and mimicked a zipper, zipping them shut.

That lasted for all of four seconds.

"Maybe yeh just needs teh knows more people!" She teased, instantly contrite. "Sorry." She murmured, while she grinned sheepishly up at him. "I'll stops."

Freya had effectively been through yet another mentally exhausting and traumatizing event in her life.. and yet.. once again, without fail, being around Kettil had her smiling again. That was his super power, after all. That was why she'd finally said yes. No one could soothe her the way he did. It was a gift.

"So.." It felt so stupid to ask this now, but, "What have yeh been up teh?"

The quip of hers only made him respond by leaning forward and gently biting the tip of her nose. No. Bad Freya. Always bad Freya.

"You are strong and wonderful. I don't care what you think because you are way too harsh on yourself as of late, but you are the best ghoul," he said simply after he let go of her nose and simply stared at her as the topic suddenly switched to him.

He let out a hum before he simply replied, "Dragging your Sister through all of Halloween."

It was technically true.

"Also buying you things." Kettil added.
