Wherholders Basic Training - Day 01 The preparations were made and the Dragonriders would not see what hit them. Those who had been selected and those who had volunteered had been brought together for the training that would arm them for their dire missions into the heart of enemy territory. Targets would burn, vulnerabilities would be exploited and the strength of the Wherholder community would be made unquestionable. Intelligence was gathered and verified and Trine Weyr lay waiting, ready to be struck again, fat with its victories of the past. Instructions and StructureThis is an ORP in which those who have signed up their Wherholders for the spies event to mingle, get to know their comrades, and complete their basic training. The schedule is as follows: May 07 – 08 2013 : Stealth Training – Disguise, Sneaking, and Tools’ Handling. May 09 – 10 2013 : Combat Training – Hand-to-Hand Combat, Human-to-Creature Combat, Group Combat. May 11 – 12 2013 : Dialogue Training – Lying, Bluffing, and Mingling. In each of the Training Days, each character you’ve signed up may roll 3d100s. The values rolled are the ‘grades’ associated with each of the subgenres of the Training and you can assign them as you choose – this is an indicator of how well your character did (it may or may not incur bonuses in the missions themselves). Descriptions of the training for each day will be available in each Day’s ORP – keep things brief and concise as this is for flavor. Each Mission will last roughly 1 week IRL. Day 01 - Stealth TrainingFor disguise training, individuals are taught the components of uniform and body language that are expected when mingling among the Dragonriders. The general gist is confidence and colourism or sexism but feel free to play with that - your character is learning to act as another character. Obscuring identifying marks like scars, marks, jewelry or tattoos is also featured here using thick cosmetics. For Sneaking training, individuals are taught how to move silently via an obstacle course full of things that when disturbed cause noise. Learning to walk quiet on gravel, through woody terrain, and in echoing area is also featured. For Tools’ Handling, individuals learn the use and rudimentary concepts behind explosives, knots, poisons, and blades. The training is BASIC – no experts will result from this training as it is quick and dirty.

Attempting to disguise V'ell was... an exercise in futility. Let's be honest: you don't disguise a six-foot-tall woman with shoulders like a linebacker, a shaved head, and a tattoo running from her shoulders to the small of her back. You can try, but it's not going to be a successful disguise.
So V'ell spent the absolute bare minimum of time permitted strutting around and playing with cosmetics and role-playing, then promptly moved onto the real meat of the lesson.
Stealth was a bit of a challenge for her. Not the same way that disguise was a challenge, but a challenge nonetheless for a woman who'd never considered herself unobtrusive. She managed to make her way through the obstacle course without doing anything too embarrassing, to put in a performance that was above average but not spectacular.
Where she shone was with the tools. A former seacrafter, knots and blades were already as comfortable in her hands as second nature, and she promptly moved onto the poisons and explosives. By the end of the day she wasn't an expert by any means, but she was certainly confident enough to use the tools at hand without poisoning herself or blowing herself up.

Rilli was by far, having too much fun with this training. She didn't necessarily have it out for the dragonriders (though she was glad as all get out that most of them were gone) but the wherhandler had to admit it was exciting to see all of Keller's planning come together.
She also hoped that she might get another shot at those hotsprings. Or, better yet, if they took Trine she might be able to make Risk and herself a little home up there! That was as good of a goal as any for her.
While her performance wasn't spectacular, Rilli had done a fair enough job at each of the tasks. She was a surprisingly precise hand with a knife, for which Rilli was rather proud. Explosives she could live without honestly. Risk was not a mining wher, and she was uncomfortable around the loud explosions.
If she was talked out of her beads and skirts, Rilli was easy enough to disguise as a young man. She wasn't so great at pretending to be a young man though. Or being sexist... Nor could she pretend to love dragons or not fawn over Risk.
By far her best performance was at stealth, previous experience helped out there. After all, there weren't many who could say they stole a dragon egg right out from under the nose of it's sleeping mother. Risk proved to be a deadly silent creature himself, surprising considering his great size. If Rilli could help it, she wouldn't leave without him again. ..................... Rilli - Day One. Rolling D'lek
11, 34, 50 -------------------------- Day 01 - Stealth Training
D'lek had signed on for the training aspect of these mission, he didn't find the idea of Trine burning particularly pleasant and justified his signing up for the firestone mission by reasoning that when Southern was first settled the Oldtimers didn't even fight thread, or at least that's how the stories went. Besides all that he yearned to feel the warm sun and missed the tropic environs of his home, he hadn't realized how much something like the weather could affect one's mood until he and Tennath had defected North.
He found his mind wandering during the disguise training, he didn't particularly care to hide himself and he figured that having been a dragonrider for turns already was all the training he needed to blend in-plus how much disguise would a lanky brown-haired bluerider really need?
Perhaps it was that he already thought he knew about walking amongst wooded areas from his forays in the South, or may-hap it was due to the proportions of his body, but D'lek was certainly not the most silent man to traverse the obstacle course that day.
D'lek found himself enthralled in the knots portion of training- the bowline, taut-line, mokey's fist, clove knot, and more easily falling into his repertoire. Weapons were another point entirely, he grimaced through training and disdained handling the poisons and blades-at least explosives had a fair bit of science to them-but the malicious intent was off-putting and his mood suffered from the training for the remainder of the day.
Perhaps it was not the best idea for me to participate, this isn't quite what I'd expected.

Mokah - Day 1
As soon as word got out that there would be a new series of missions to try to attack and disrupt Trine, Mokah jumped at the chance to join in. They might have taken over two weyrs, but there was still much to do before the rest of Pern saw the right of things. Even better, there would be training before the missions, which gave her a chance to learn valuable new skills for the sake of the wherhold.
Unfortunately, she did not see the need for disguise, the first of the skills they taught. She didn't even want to hide who she was; she was proud to be a gold wherhandler and wanted everyone to know who they were dealing with! She made a token effort for the sake of learning the skill, but didn't make any progress and could not bring herself to regret the lack of the skill.
Next up was sneaking, a skill she could appreciate. There were times to go in with a roar and a show of strength, and times to slip in and his them where they could cause the most damage. Although she had a bit of a rough start and initially blundered her way through the obstacle course, she readily picked up every tip the instructors offered her and never made the same mistake twice. By the end of those lessons, she could slip through a variety of terrains and situations with a skill that belied her limited training at the subject.
Last for the day was instruction in the use of a variety of tools which were largely foreign to her. They did sound useful, so she applied herself to the lessons intently, but progressed slowly. She felt that she could probably have learned them better if given more time, but just as she was starting to understand a thing she was hustled off to try a different tool and had to learn an entirely new set of uses. If left to train on just one thing she felt probably could have gained a solid working knowledge of it. Yet since she kept being moved to new things, by the end of the day she'd made no significant progress in any of them. Fuming stupidity of the training regimen, she left the lessons for the day to care for Mokask and get some sleep. Tomorrow would be better!

Average.
Average really annoyed him but that was more or less where he sat. He stealth and performance with the tools he could only blade just not being that stellar at, but the acting portion of disguise... it paid to be a bit hammy, he couldn't have people noticing just how good he could be. If that happened his whole life could come crashing down around his ears.

Sasar already knew how to use a knife. He'd learned their value in a fight during the Revolution. If Sasask had been full grown at the time, Sasar felt he'd have been able to turn the tide of that battle on the shores of Trine. Another weyr might have fallen to him and the rest of the wherholders. While it's memory remained, the blade he had picked up at Trine itself had long since been replaced with something more suited to Sasar's size.
What had caught the miner's attention instead was the use and construction of explosives. Ancient crafter techniques he assumed, at least some of it. A deep, wide grin crossed the huge man's face every time one exploded. ..................... Sasar - Day One. Stealth Training

E'lov - Day One, Stealth
Disguise: 19 Stealth: 1 Tools: 37
E'lov saw the need for such training, and even if he hadn't volunteered for a mission, he would still be out here. You never knew when these sorts of skills would come in handy.
He liked disguises best, but perhaps part of that was because he didn't have to learn how to act like a rider. Just how not to look like himself.
Sneaking was much harder, especially with the threadscore that was on his upper thigh. It caused him to limp, and even when he tried his hardest, he couldn't make it through the obstacle course silently.
The tools part was interesting as well, with poisons, knives, knots, and explosives. He liked explosives, though they weren't the most subtle of weapons, but he wasn't sure that he'd want to be the one setting them off. Not until they got more training in them, and since this was a rapid pace training, it was unlikely. Perhaps for the future though.
