After talking to many of the shifter women, all of who have become exceptionally nice to her since she moved up in rank, she realized that she didn't know how to cook very well. She also realized that if her and Biroki were to move in together it would kind of be expected of her to cook diner, being she was the woman of the relationship. Even though she had a feeling he would be the better cook she set out to learn more about the different kinds of meals that one could make from things found in Jahuar. It didn't take long before she had a little book of things she could cook, but to her they all tasted the same. She wanted variety, wanted to be able to surprise Biroki with meals he had never tasted before every once in a while. And that was what brought Zuri to where she was, Tale, searching for roots not found in the forest and other things that she could use to cook.
As always Belle was at her side, wearing her little pack that allowed Zuri to bring back more stuff. After all she could only carry so much, and although Belle couldn't carry a lot of weight, some was better then none. Crouched down Zuri was trying to dig out a root that looked interesting.

Vollerei was tossing her baby kinfa up and catching the happily chirping bird as it fluttered down. She'd just finished feeding its face and was trying to tire Zwielicht out so she could go hunting for herself without the noisy baby disturbing her prey. "How come you eat as much as I do and yet still don't grow?" Vollerei muttered as she fluffed Zwielicht. Finally the little guy yawned and snuggled into her arms when she tried to put him in a bag to carry him her chirped angrily. Vollerei sighed, apparently she'd have to be content with no meat again. Perhaps she should start eating before the little guy did? No... the baby should always be fed first so that its growth was not stunted.... Cradling him in one arm, Vollerei climbed out of the lone tree and descended down into the tall grass. She headed towards an area that she knew some tasty tubers grew and where she had found some berry bushes with unripened berries last week. They should be ready now, she thought to herself. As she stealthily slunk through the grass, careful not to jostle her sleeping kinfa awake, she saw a figure crouched near the ground digging.
Curious, she thought. It didn't look like the earthling she'd met when she'd gotten Zwielicht nor did it look like the shifters she'd seen... a curious blue color. Another type of earthling! Creeping up, she waited until she was a few feet away before speaking.
"'Ello there."

Zuri jumped up at hearing the voice and Belle ran behind her. Although Belle had become a little more friendly with most of the shifters, she was skill kind of jumpy around new comes. She couldn't be blamed though, she was almost killed. Zuri had also been surprised, she normally had pretty good ears and hadn't noticed anyone around them. She looked up to see if she knew the person, although she didn't recognize the voice and realized that it was an Alkidike! So far Zuri had only met two of the women, but both of them seemed pretty nice. They scared Biroki, but then again most things scared him. "Hello, how are you?" she offered before bending down to pick up the root she had and putting it in her bag before turning back towards the Alkidike. "What brings you to Tale? The only Alkidike sisters I've seen are in the forest." she asked curiously.
She noted the kinfa and smiled. They were cute creatures, and one of the other Alkidikes had showed interest in acquiring one. Maybe they made good pets for the warrior women? "How rude of me, I haven't introduced myself. My name is Zuri and this is my companion Belle." she said with a polite nod of her head.

Volle smirked, making people jump in surprise was fun! "I'm Vollerei, and this sleeping bird is Zwielicht, or Zweil as I call him." She pointed at the sleeping bundle of feathers. "I'm actually jumping between the forest and the grasslands. I'd be further away from the jungle and out exploring more, but Zweil needs to be fed a lot and I know I can hunt here and feed us both..."Now that Vollerei had a good look, this earthling looked very strange, she didn't match any description that Vollerei had heard before, in fact, she kinda matched two.. so what was she? "What are you? I've never seen anything like you before.. though you're not one of those odd Men things, that's all I can tell." The best way to find out was to ask!

Zuri smiled. Zweil was a good name, and the little bird was pretty. When Vollerei said she stayed back to be able to hunt for the little bird the girl nodded. It was evident that this Alkidike cared for the little creature. "Ah, you are a good mother for him then." she said with a nod of her head.
When Vollerei asked what she was Zuri had to stifle a laugh. At first she didn't understand what the woman meant, but then she couldn't help but laugh when she talked about Men. "Ah, they are strange aren't there." she said shaking her head at the thought of men. That was something she could agree on the Alkidike about. "I'm assuming you mean my race. Well I'm a half breed. My mother is a Shifter, from the forests here," she said gesturing towards Jauhar, "But my father was from the Ice Tribe in Zena." and with that Zuri pointed in the direction she figured her homeland was in. It was very likely that this Alkidike hadn't gone to Zena yet, though she had no doubt that she would one day.

A good mother? ... Really? Vollerei just didn't want it to starve. Tau had said that she needed to take care of the little fuzzball or it'd die, and while it meant she didn't get to eat as much, she certainly wasn't going to let it starve to death! That would be the worst thing ever to do! And as for being two types of races, how strange! Didn't know they could interbreed.....
Volle finally looked away from the half breed and looked at what had been introduced as Belle. Yet another strange creature! But this was covered in fur... fur so long it looked like hair! What was something like this doing in the jungle? Didn't it get too hot in all that fur? The world certainly had some strange things in it.. and since it was a pet, Vollerei knew not to ask if it was edible. People had the strangest ideas about pets, like how they 'couldn't' be eaten. Silliness.
"Zena? What's Zena like? Jerarda mentioned a land of cold and that I might want to bring clothes with me should I head that direction.. is that Zena?" Ice tribe... so it must be cold there, right? Shifters changed colors and Ice tribe must live near ice... Earthlings certainly had a simple way of naming themselves!

Jerarda? She had never met this Jerarda, she must be one of the Alkidike sisters. She had never met any Alkidike up in Zena, honestly she was mostly around members of the Ice Tribe, but since she had traveled all the way down here to the forest it made sense that other races would travel to Zena.
"Yes, it is very cold. I use to wear fur to keep me warm." She would offer the clothing Vollerei, but the Alkidike was much taller and she doubted that they would fit the girl. "It snows a lot, so you have to be careful where you are camping at night so you don't get trapped in the snow. Other then that is is nice." she said with a smile.
Belle in an act of bravery went up to sniff the Alkidike. Zuri laughed. "She is also from Zena. Normally I keep her fur shorter, but it has grown out recently. In Zena she would need all of her fur to keep her warm."

Wear fur? Ick.. scratchy stuff! How bad was it that it drove people to wear fur? Vollerei grimaced. Maybe going to this Zena place wasn't the best to do.. but what types of food did they eat there? It was bound to be new and delicious foods! Plus this snow.. she'd heard of it in stories from older Alkidikes, and wondered about it.
When Belle came over to sniff her, Volle bent down to touch the long fur. It looked soft, perhaps as soft as Zweil's feathers?
Zweil woke up as she bent down, chirping sleepily. When he saw the strange beast below he squawked loudly and flapped his wings to threaten the odd beast away from his mommy. Strange beast! No likey! ..Unless for eats? Is mommy gonna feed me again? But no hungry right now....
"Oh hush Zweil, it's not dangerous!" Volle said, amused. She kept a grip on the squirming bird as she ran her free hand trough Belle's fur. It was a delight to touch, but definitely really warm.. she would not want to wear that.....
"Needs all this to keep warm? Blarg. If its that bad, how do you stay warm? And would Zweil be okay there? Or would he need thicker warmer feathers?"
At Volleries voice, Zweil looked up at her and snuggled back into his perch in her arms. What mommy say? Pay attention and give me pets too yes? Zweil chirped and squirmed as his short attention span jumped from potential food and irritant who was stealing mommy's pets to even stranger beast! It looked like mommy but was not mommy!

It seemed that Vollerei didn't like the idea of wearing fur. Then again the shifters who had seen all the fur she packed with her were confused and a little disgusted as well. It seemed like a natural reaction. She watched Vollerei touch Belle's fur, and a laugh escaped when her kinifa woke up and wasn't all that happy about it.
Belle moved away from Zweii when the bird started squawking, moving closer to Zuri. She didn't move away from Vollerei's touch, but she wasn't as close as before. Zuri bent down. "It's okay, you just startled him." she said soothingly to Belle. "I bet he hasn't seen anything like her before." she said with a smile towards Vollerei.
"Well we wear fur, and I guess we just get use to it. Lots of fire places in every room and camp." she said with a shrug. Looking at the kinfa she tilted her head. "I think that he would be good, animals are better at keeping warm then we are, but I can't say with all certainty since I've never seen one of his kind in Zena."

Zweil chirped and fluffed himself up smugly. Mommy look! I made strange beast flee! Pet and praise me! Is other non mommy creature gonna pet and praise me too?
Volle laughed at Zweil's fluffed up appearance and chirping. Such a strange creature! She raised an eyebrow at the other woman. Fires and wearing fur? Sounded like torture! She didn't mind fire to cook with, but it was unbearable hot, and in the hot and humid jungles more heat was not a good thing.
"Hmm, maybe I should avoid that for now.... Not sure I want to go someplace where you need lots of fire and fur to live." She mused. Her stomach growled loudly at that moment, reminding her of her original purpose: food.
Rubbing her stomach she sighed. "Not that I'm enjoying our conversation, but I'm headed off in that direction," she waved her hand to her right, "to go pick up some berries and tubers for my own food. Fuzz ball here ate all the meat and I can't go hunting with him awake like this... So unless you'd care to join me.." she cocked her head and waited for Zuri's response.

Zuri smiled. To most she assumed that the sound of being in Zena wouldn't be fun. To her it was home, but she could imagine what they thought. If you wore fur and had lots of fires here in the forest you would die from the heat! She knew that since the first time she came here she almost died from the heat. Until she cut down on the fur and started wearing more appropriate clothing she was always so hot!
When Vollerei's stomach rumbled she smiled. "Well that's actually what I was doing before we started talking. I was collecting things to bring home. Maybe we could get them together? Two is better then one. Plus if we see any game I can hold Zweii while you hunt?" she suggested.

Vollerei gave Zuri a relived smile, "Oh would you? I've missed the taste of meat lately.. He eats most of it. Seems to know to stay quiet when I'm hunting for him, but after he's fed? So noisy!" She shifted Zweil to her hip started off towards the berry bushes. "Berries first though! That'll keep him and my stomach occupied for a bit while I hunt afterwards!"

Zuri smiled and nodded. "Yes, berries first, it will a good appetizer before you go and get the meat." and with that Zuri started walking with Vollerei, Belle trailing after her. "How long have you had Zweil?" she asked curiously. He seemed pretty small, but she had never really seen one full grown. She knew they were big enough to be mounts, but if she knew how old this one was then she would have better knowledge of how old they had to be before they were big enough to hold both their own weight and the weight of a rider in flight.

Vollerei kept an eye out for any creature she could go hunting, now that she had Zuri to hold Zweil and keep him from disturbing her hunt. She walked briskly, bouncing Zweil up into the air to get him to flap and strengthen his wings. "I've only had him for a few weeks. Tau, the strange earthling male I ran into told me how to take care of him since I'd never seen a Kinfa before.. he says that they can grow to a radaku or 4 radaku's size.. though I'm not sure whether or not I should trust his word since he seems given to strange flights of fancy.. like him being strong enough to take on a radaku alone with his bony thin frame...." Viollerei chuckled with amusement. The garishly decorated Tau always amused her.

She kept her eyes open while they walked. She was ready to take Zweil at a moments time if she saw something for Vollerei to hunt. She listened and laughed at the story. Bony thin frame? Flights of fancy? She could just imagine this earthling meeting her Biroki. It might be amusing. "Taking down a radaku on his own? Most skilled warriors can't even do that." she said with a laugh. This boy sounded interesting, she wondered why she had never met him before. "Though he was telling the truth about them getting big. I'm not sure about four radaku's size... Though I've seen ones as big as two." she said nodding.
Soon there was a bush with red and blue berries all over it. She knew she had seen it before, and that it was safe to eat, but she couldn't for the life of her remember what they were called! "These should make a good appetizer." she said nodding.
