Ah, the quad, nothing quite like a thoroughfare for student bodies that also served as a loitering area. There were benches and trees and benches in the shade of trees! Ruth hadn't finished exploring and committing the school's layout to memory just yet, using the excuse of being in-between classes to justify why she was currently parked on a bench underneath a tree. She had positioned herself to be as inconspicuous as possible while still maintaining visual contact with the students and faculty that walked, flew, and oozed past.
At the moment, Ruth felt so content she would have sighed. But that meant lowering her guard and, well, that was generally frowned upon by fellow agents and could mean unpleasant consequences. So maybe she herself exhibited signs of paranoia by doing quick perimeter scans every so often.

The quad indeed was a very excellent location to sit and watch fellow students go to their day to day in between classes, or well... anytime really; like there was a schedule for this. Olivia liked it, just like any other, given the flow and quantity that it usually presented. And it was rather pretty too with the few trees in the area.
Not to mention how well the sound carried.
Which she was picking up as she wandered through the halls and paths to find herself in the main part of the quad proper, among the benches the the trees and the hub of it all. There was one spot in particular though, and as she wasn't going for the stealth approach from its local, the ghoul had found it a nice spot more for its vicinity to everything else around it. The bench oh so close to Ruth's.
The wight paused, noticing the other quiet ghoul; having only spotted her because of how close the two were from one another in their now usual spots... well, Olivia's usual spot at least. The petite ghoul stared at the other, her blue eyes bright and shiny with an ever present smile upon her face. Ooo, someone new! Well, new to her at least. Exciting!
She marched herself right over, not minding any personal space issues that might be present (unless, well.. Ruth had some fire power behind her. Please don't have some fire power) and plopped herself down pretty much right next to the her. Not a word was said, just a happy look before she diverted her attentions to the student body.
huni pi let the silent roleplay begin!

The moment the wight began her approach, every single muscle in Ruth's body tensed. For what exactly, the cap-clad reaper didn't know yet. Perhaps this ideal vantage point belonged to someone else? The possibility was there, after all Ruth was still unfamiliar with the whos and whats of the school. But when the other ghoul just plopped down with no aura of malice or ill-intent, the agent simply blinked. Not that it would be visible given her specie's tendency for obscured eyes but the motion was made.
There were no words from the stranger and since neither conversation nor confrontation was initiated, Ruth shrugged and took it as her cue to continue observing again. While she didn't hold exclusive rights to people watching, the knowledge of sharing a surveillance activity with someone made her... want to compare notes.
An upperclassman boil trailed a bright rainbow plummage past them, and Ruth couldn't help but nudge at Olivia towards said boil. The blond ghoul may or may not have flashed a thumb's down (she didn't care much for bright colors).

There didn't seem to be any signs of protest from the other ghoul, or ill exchanged words for her to vacate the area. Not that it would have really detoured her from trying to sit where she was, but since Ruth didn't seem to mind then Olivia was all the more happier. Even if they didn't exchange any words, there was nothing wrong with silence.
Her attention had been on a ghost like wisp of a student trying to make a bad pass - and getting slapped for it - at a ghoul with fluffy wings the color of snow when she felt a nudge on her side. Olivia blinked, unsure of where it had come from until she turned her head to notice Ruth's opinionated thumb. And then the rainbows to which it the judgement was directed at. (The thumbs down was at least something she was familiar with). Honestly, she didn't find them quiet that bad as she surveyed the look of the boil that was walking past them. The wight gave Ruth a little shrug with a smile as her verdict on the matter.
Well, if the other ghoul wasn't fond of mixes of color, and if they were pointing other the others they saw, Olivia was now curious what would gain Ruth's favor. Her eyes pulled from the reaper and back into the crowd, scanning along the students until she spotted a very muted in tone looking demon with large scaled wings. Turning back, she tapped Ruth on the shoulder and very pointedly shot out her hand and pointed.
huni pi sorry for taking so long! ;A;

Ruth waited for the other ghoul's reaction, part eager and part curious as she maintained the silence. Granted, the silence bit was easy though she wasn't sure what sort of response she was hoping for. So when the wight responded with a shrug and a smile, Ruth's lips pursed as if contemplating the other ghoul's opinion.
Then it became her turn to give her thoughts and from beneath the bill of her cap, her eyes followed the direction of the ghoul's hand. She saw a demon boil, who didn't look too bright, which was a plus. But unfortunately, Ruth ignored the large, scaled wings in favor of his posterior.
Too flat, Ruth decided and turned to her co-watcher. Her face scrunched up, lips curled into an unimpressed sneer. With her palm face down, Ruth wiggled her hand in a rocking motion, as if to mean lukewarm. Wait, what did the other ghoul intend for her to look at? The thought came too late and the decision to clarify had Ruth's hands motioning as if she was cupping something.

Olivia's hand lingered in the air, unaware of the few turned glances and curious looks from the student body that seemed to notice the pointing, as her own lips pursed together from Ruth's silent response to her find. Bright colors were a no, and now from the gestures she was picking up from the other ghoul it seemed lack of didn't gain any favor at all.
Or, maybe? The outreached hand finally fell to her lap as Olivia's attentions turned to what Ruth was doing with her hands. And had no idea what she was doing with her hands. Still, she didn't voice any sort of her confusion (the silence was nice after all), simply arched a brow and gave Ruth a look that designated she was pretty clueless with the gesture.
huni pi Ruth used Confusion. It was super effective

And so it begins, it seems. Ruth wasn't upset at the confusion making itself visible on the other ghoul's face, she really wasn't. If anything, she was amused and outright pleased, because confusion was the bread and butter of a fledgling agent. She'll work up to doubt in several years time, she was sure of that. Although, the blonde wasn't completely pleased by the result.
Mainly because she wasn't intentionally trying to confuse her co-conversationalist? Co-silencer? This other ghoul. Ruth could easily clear things up by talking but... where was the challenge in that? Or the fun, for that matter? She'll pantomime her way into understanding even if it takes her the rest of the day!
The agent stood up, briefly gesturing back to the winged demon boil with a jerk of her thumb, she then pointed to her own behind before repeating the palm down, rocking motion.

It probably would have just been so much simpler to ask her fellow judge of the student body what she meant, but Olivia didn't utter a word. Caught in the silent conversation they were sharing and for a moment forgetting that words could be expressed with sound, or even just not daring to say anything. Would have put an end to her confused state, she was concentrating really hard to get what Ruth was trying to tell her too.
The wight's eyes followed each movement, her upper body even leaning a little to make sure she didn't miss any of it. To Ruth, back to the winged boil and to Ruth once more, just following that hand. And then even raising her own to mimic the motion, to see if she would get it if she parroted it herself. Though a silent creature by nature, Olivia was not up to date on hand signals since everyone she had ever met usually progressed into spoken conversation. But doing the gesture herself did help a little, jogging her memory of a time she'd seen one of her sisters do something similar. It just didn't seem to fit though and what did it have to do with Ruth's behind?
So confusing. Maybe it would be better to drop it and move on, but Olivia still kind of wanted to know; maybe she should ask someone else later? Olivia's brows pushed together for a moment before the ghoul feigned a smile, she turned from the Reaper even though it killed her to do it and looked for a change of subject. It came in the form of a small group of ghouls all chatting themselves as they multi-tasked with their skellyphones; it was a mixed bag, a reapers with their familiars, a slime ghoul and a werewolf with a big fuzzy tail adorned with ribbons.

That the other ghoul understood Ruth's meanings seemed to rank very low on the agent's scale of necessity. A conversation was taking place between them without words and that was all that mattered to the blonde. Misunderstanding and miscommunicating was part and parcel of such conversations and Ruth thrived in it. Okay maybe not thrived inasmuch as thoroughly enjoyed it.
So when her fellow quiet-ghoul turned her attention to a different group, Ruth's own assumptions involved whether or not she thought the winged boil had a better posterior than those ghouls. Ruth let out a silent laugh, and one could tell it was a laugh because she tipped her head back and had her mouth opened wide in soundless laughter.
The blonde nodded, because Jack yes did those ghouls have nicely shaped behinds. She pointed to Olivia expectantly for her assessment.

Yes, this was all simply leading into a series of complete misunderstandings. And neither of them were going to open their mouths to try to clear it all up. Though, Olivia had thought she finally got it all figured out on her end. Maybe. Hopefully. Perhaps. Close maybe.
It was actually rather amazing that the reaper was able to laugh without sound, she had to admit as she watched the reaction to what she had pointed out. What brought it on was a new set of confusion, causing her to look between her equally silent companion and those she had gestured to. Perhaps jovial approval of her find, completed with a nod. Olivia was actually rather pleased, enough for her eyes to light up. Someone Ruth approved of.
The wight simply nodded back in response enthusiastically, and not about the behinds of the ghouls but others qualities she found interesting about them each of them. Repeat, nothing about their posteriors.
