It was a very calm night, and that meant Hypnos could take a break from hunting. She'd been near the school at the time so she went to the baseball field. There she shuffled around carelessly with her hands behind her back and her head titled up to look at the sky. She wasn't just looking at the stars, no, she was searching. She knew that up there, somewhere in the clusters of the sky, was her heart. Somewhere up in the sky was the asteroid Hypnos.

Columba was still trying to figure out what she wanted to do as a senshi and so her nights were spent hunting for other senshi instead of enemies or youma. She hadn't thought to creep around the school before, and it suddenly struck her that was probably a silly thing to do.
She'd only seen one other chibi in existence and that was no fun because she wasn't that big on the snobbery a lot of adults seemed to have a problem with. They were talking down to her, she knew it, and she didn't like it.
Luckily her theory held water because she saw another senshi off in the distance who didn't look too grown up. She greeted her by running and tackling her. Not a deliberate tackle but more like an 'oh god I can't stop' arms thrown around in a half attempted hug stop that just caused her to tumble to the ground in a fit of giggles.
"Hi!"

Hypnos had been completely out of it so when she felt the arms of Columba on her, she let out a shriek so high pitched that she rivaled a screaming fog. Heart nearing pounding nearly out of her chest, Hypnos took very short breaths until she no longer felt threatened, turning to meet the culprit. She was laughing, and Hypnos' eyes welled up with tears just a little.
She didn't know if she was so scared, or simply happy that she was okay.
"Saluations," she replied very meekly, finally catching the rest of her breath. "You sure startled me."

"Sorry!" Columba chirped as she bounced to her feet, still giggly before she took a good look at Hypnos. "Did I hurt you? I didn't mean to. Sorry, sorry! I was just playing."
She brushed grass off her shorts and held out a gloved hand to a ridiculously strained extent. "Hello! I am chibi sailor Columba, who are you?"
Hopefully her name was easier to pronounce than Euphronneseeney or whatever he was.

Hypnos took the other senshi's apology to heart, smiling softly in return. She took that moment to brush off her fuku, and adjust her hair properly. After Columba introduced herself, a new sort of smile came to the senshi's face. A lift of her skirt and the bed of her knees, Hypnos gave a curtsey to her.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, my name is Sailor Hypnos," she replied, making all the effort and habit of dropping the 'chibi' part from any introduction. She was not a child, and in the step to make an effort in having others treat her as such she had long senshi dropped that term. Finally she finished her introduction, delicately tossing her hair off her shoulder to get it out of the way. "I am the senshi of sleep, and you?"

"Oh..." Columba had already met young senshi who weren't quite chibi, so the dropping of the chibi title phased her a bit and now she was wondering what it all meant.
She wasn't going to ask this girl, though. She didn't want to look dumb.
"I'm the senshi of correspondendance, I'm brand new!" She announced, hands on her hips. "Well maybe not that new, but I can't get out much, daddy has a curfew."

The tone of Columba's voice when she said 'Oh...' made her tilt her head a bit. Her neatly tucked away hair slid to the side, causing her to tuck it back behind her back again. Her gesture asked Columba if something was wrong, a genuine smile on her face. Leaving enough space for Columba to say something, she followed up with a response to her senshi sphere.
"Correspondence?" She said smoothly, in a tone that almost made it out to be a question. She didn't make a point to correct her on it, but she left it open to be corrected even if she didn't recognize the word correspondendance.
"You're like a delivery senshi? I love getting mail!"

"Yup!" Columba's mispronunciation didn't even make her blink. She butchered large words because she insisted on speaking fast and there was a very small part of her that might've avoided making the effort because misspeaking was babyish and usually got her dad's attention.
Even if that attention came in the form of 'you're thirteen, Day, you're too old for this nonsense.'
"Oh, yes, it's really cool, hold on!" She said before calling out special delivery and producing a winged envelope in her fingers.
It struggled to get away as she handed it to Hypnos. "Open it, open it!"

Columba's excitement grew on Hypnos so when the letter appeared her cold blue eyes lit up and she grabbed onto the edges of the envelope tightly so it wouldn't fly away or anything. She didn't know if it would but it seemed to fidget when Columba had it and she didn't want to lose it!
"Awwwe, how amazing!" She announced, carefully fiddling with the ends of it until it popped open. In her face, much like her own sleep dust, sparkles flew out. Excitement and joy rushed into her, and the solemn senshi of sleep felt like very satisfied. A larger than normal smile fell over her face as she swiveled side to side on her feet.
"That felt nice" she said contently, holding her hands out to form a cup. At a level Columba could see, a silvery-blue dust began to amass in her hands. There she gave the other senshi time to look at it before she threw it up into the air around them both. Softly it fell to the ground, covering both of them quite heavily in the process.
In the light glow of the night, the two of them sparkled.

"Yeah it's really cool," Columba said with rapid nodding.
When Hypnos threw her own glitter sparkles in the air, she looked up with awe and threw her arms up.
And then for some reason felt considerably sleepy and dropped on her butt, still giggly. "That's amazing!"
She took off her hat and yawned. "Yer pretty cool for a senshi. I think. I don't know, I'm still meeting them, but I sure am gettin' sick of being treated like a baby."

Columba took more effort to follow when she spoke really fast but with a little hint of sleep dust Hypnos felt like things slowed down a little bit more. She smiled at Columba's reaction, slowly kneeling down onto the grass beside her and smoothing out the lines of her skirt over her legs. It was nice to be around someone close to her own age, something she hadn't done since the time Ixion was around. She wasn't sure where he was now but she missed him, and this made her feel a bit better.
"Thank you," she said softly. "I have been around for awhile and I know many of them think it is up to them to do everything so when they see anyone younger they don't understand but they're just concerned. They do the same thing with new senshi, although I admit it is not to the same degree. However, if we prove ourselves, bit by bit, they will realize that we are not in need of constant protection and that if they were in our shoes they would feel the same pull that we do. How can we ignore the call of the stars?"
She spoke slow, and even then she paused for a moment.
"Change is slow though," she said, knowing this all too well. She fought so hard for things no one else believed in but she didn't give up. "Practice, and a good self defense will help. That and time, plenty of time."

"Yeah," Columba said with a slight, impudent huff to her voice. She still hadn't told her sister, and she had no plans to, because she was sure when Evie got a clue the party was over.
She kept her secret. She understood her need to go out and do her senshi thing. Why was she so sure this wasn't going to work both ways?
"Yes! We got woke up just the same as them," Columba sighed, glancing up at the stars and wishing she was better at picking out constellations. Sheena said hers was up there somewhere, she just didn't know where.
"I guess I still need practice, though. Chaonis was teachin' me things but then we... got... uh... distracted." With hooliganism, but that wasn't important.

Chaonis was not a senshi Hypnos had ever met directly but names got around when you'd been around long enough. It sound familiar but no face matched up with it. If he was teaching this chibi senshi they couldn't be that bad, right? She'd never had the unpleasantries that many other chibi senshi had because her big sister was a senshi too, and she understood, but Hypnos could understand the concept. However, even at camp there had been danger and she certainly hadn't needed to be a senshi to get trampled on by that monster that came by. Neither did she have to be a senshi for a youma to attack her. As a senshi though, she was privileged to have the ability to protect herself, something many adults couldn't do.
Hypnos put her little fists up and smiled at Columba in a manner that certainly didn't say fight.
"We can practice then. My sister teaches me how to fight... I can teach you!"

"You sister teaches you to fight?" Columba asked, mouth agape from this shocking news.
Why was her own sister such a lameazoid?
Evie didn't want to teach her to fight, Evie wanted to fight for her which was unacceptable and sucky.
She matched Hypnos' funny little way of putting her fists up, though. Columba didn't exactly see the little lady as a brawler and the way she held up her hands was less than convincing, but she could play along.
"Ha! Okay!"

"She does," Hypnos said, her smile softening even more than it was already. "She wants me to stay safe."
It was probably the opposite for Columba since the easiest way to stay safe was definitely not getting involved. However, here stood a girl whose sister clearly was allowing her to get involved and even helping her do a better job at it. She might not have been keen on fighting, or very good at it, but she wouldn't allow anyone to simply walk all over her. So maybe her stance seemed weak but her will was strong and behind the fragile exterior stood a girl with the basic knowledge of self defense and a pretty handy magical attack that made her enemies a little easier to handle. It might not have been anything amazing but a little went a long ways when you didn't have a lot to start with.
Hypnos started things off the exact same way her sister did. As quick as a bunny (something she always aimed for), and trying to give little notice in her movements as she could, she swept down to try and knock Columba off her feet. She needed to know how strong of a stance Columba had. A prime offense was a good defense. Hehe!
