Cootie Canoodle scurried around the other children and the adults. The farm was quiet a lot of fun, a little smellier then she would had liked, used to being constantly in the presence of flowers back at Honeysuckle's shop, but the activities after activities certainly trumped the smell.
After the last race, she had lost her brother to a poetic scene of a bird perched up on an apple tree, but she wasn't worried. Larry would eventually come out of it and look for her. C.C. jumped up on a hay stack trying to get a better view as the next activity was announced. Berry picking!
Alright, so it wasn't as fun as the race, but who knows! Maybe after wards they would learn how to make jam or pies with them or something! She perked up her ears and listen to the instructions. Oh, hmm, apparently children needed to pair up. The red maned filly looked around, trying to figure out who to ambush ask to be her buddy.

Midnight Snack loved being at the farm. For one thing, there was so much open space to fly around in! And so many haystacks for snacking and for laying in. And so many activities he normally didn't get to take part in, like bobbing for apples, and obstacle courses, and cool things like that. And last but not least, it gave him all kinds of ideas for riffs on down-home country-cookin' he could use...
Midnight Snack was floating, deep in thought, watching old mares churning butter when the berry-picking announcement was made. It wasn't until he heard the delighted squeals of other colts and fillies that he realized he was missing out on something, and then he dashed back over to his group to see everyone paired up! Quickly, he landed back on the ground and looked around, trying to see if anyone was unattached.
There! That pretty filly with the -- whoa! gulp? -- smoochie cutie mark seemed unattached... Midnight Snack patted his hair (it was behaving, right?) and floated over, grinning a friendly grin.
"Ahem... hiya," he said, by way of introduction.

Several had paired up by now and were walking off into the berry fields with their baskets, while C.C. sat on her hay stack, still trying to find a buddyless phony to go with her.
Her ears perked up at hearing a greeting and she turned around on her perch to see a pegasus talking to her. A very cute pegasus. She smiled brightly at him. "Hi! Want to go berry picking with me?"

Well, that made it easier. Midnight Snack's grin grew as the filly said exactly what he meant to, dispensing with all the usual small-talk and whatnots. He nodded enthusiastically. "Just what I was gonna ask!"
As they made their way toward the baskets, he fluttered his wings and landed on the ground next to this new filly, so as to walk beside her. "I'm Midnight Snack. I don't think I've ever seen you before."

She made a happy noise when the other accepted, and quickly started towards the baskets. "It's nice you meet you. I am Cootie Canoodle." She giggled softly. "I am not surprise you haven't seen me around before. Farms don't usually get flowers or kiss deliveries!"
Picking up one of the baskets, they were guided towards the large berry patch to a sign showing how to tell ripe berries from the rest. "Oooh, they all look so good."

"Cootie Canoodle? That's a cute name. And yeah..." said Midnight Snack, nodding as Cootie talked -- until what she said really caught up with him. Kiss deliveries?! The thought practically made his eyes bulge out. A cute little filly like that, delivering smooches!? Be cool, be cool Midnight...
The colt grinned instead, floating over to his side of the berry patch, swallowing and regaining his calm. "They sure do, yeah. But, actually, this is my first time on the farm. I'm from Phony City, but I guess not from the part that gets many... kiss deliveries."

"Oh? Well, I started doing kiss deliveries just a little while ago." She watched the colt from the corner of the eye. She enjoy the little stuttered in his expression over her kiss-o-grams. It was fun to shock phonies every once in a while with something new. "May you should come by my dad's flower shop. We have a banner and stuff. A little booth inside, ready to take orders."

Midnight Snack grinned widely at that, although he turned his eyes back toward the berry bushes and plucked a few of them for his basket. Might as well at least TRY to look like he was focusing on the task at hand, right? "Maybe I will," he said. "How long have you been kiss-o-gramming, anyway?"
He picked another berry in a show of nonchalance, and looked back over at C.C., tossing it up into the air and catching it in his mouth.

C.C. picked a few berries, taking quiet care to make sure they were ripe and big. "Oh, just about a week. Larry had been trying his best to keep finding something to do to delay opening the booth, but he couldn't do it forever." She giggled.
Her ears perked up as she watched him catch a berry in his mouth. "Very cool!"

Midnight Snack made a little bow in return, sweeping in his wing to add a little flourish to the motion. "Thank you, thank you," he said. He turned back to the berries, picking more and dropping them into his basket. He shoved the basket to another part of the bush, having picked the best berries on his side, now coming closer to C.C.'s area.
"Well, yeah, I'm sure your boyfriend wouldn't be too happy about you opening up a kiss-o-gram business," he said, nodding as he moved.

"Well, well, what makes you think I have a boyfriend?" C.C. picked off a few more berries, peeking towards the pegasus. "And even if I did, he or she should know that the kisses I sell are nothing compare to the ones I give with my heart."
She stood a little straighter and went to stepped around her row of bushes to start picking on the other side when she saw a big black beetle scurrying about right in the path. Big beetle, with itty bitty eyes, and as black and slick as oil with giant malevolent looking pincers.
Suppressing every single little part of her that told her to scream and bolt, she slowly stepped backwards, keeping her expression as mild as possible as she turned back to the bushes she had been surveying already. She did not want to look like a scaredy little babe in front of this colt, even if those pincers look awful big. No, she would just get around Midnight, casually, and go to the other side of the bushline without having to get any closer to that...that thing!

"Well, you mentioned a Larry -- is that not your boyfriend?" asked Midnight Snack, shifting to the side as C.C. did, idly picking another few berries as he went. He watched her as she sidled away and moved with her, and then his eyes dropped on a giant, absolutely massive beetle that was feasting on one of the plump berries in the bush. Instantly, his wings tried to flutter open, but he kept them pinned to his body with all his self-control, trying not to look directly at the thing.
Oh, gosh, it was SO HUGE. So, so huge! Did C.C. see it? She seemed to be okay... he wasn't a total baby for thinking it was horrible, right? Be cool, Midnight, be cool!

C.C. was thankful for the distraction Midnight provided, no matter how wrong and odd of a distracton it was. "W-what? N-no! Larry is my brother." She manage a little laugh as she turned back to the bushes, keeping a sneaky eye on the large bug as she tried to inch away from it.

The giant beetle finished its meal and crawled slightly toward another berry, and Midnight tried not to flutter away as it got closer to both foals. Its back shone in the sunlight, and its pincers seemed all the more gory and frightening with the berry juice still on it... Midnight blinked. Was he imagining things? He slid a look at C.C., to see if she was watching him, but she didn't seem to be. He took a step away from the bush, toward another section of berries, trying to appear like he was just looking for better berries.
"Ohh, I gotcha. Why does your brother mind so much?"He said, trying to keep the conversation going.

It was coming closer to her basket!!! C.C. felt her insides growing icy as it came closer and decided to pick up the basket, moving it away and trotting a bit closer to Midnight as if she was investigating the same berries he was.
"Oh, he just has old fashion idea of what lady is." She tried to keep her voice steady.
