He was sick and tired of this. No matter what he did or where he went, SHE was there. Every. Single. Time. He knew she was stubborn, but this was getting ridiculous.
Because she's a stubborn, annoying pain in the a**.
He let out a huff. There had to be SOME way for him to get her to stop. If she didn't honour his word, perhaps she would honour a bet.
Glaring at his phone, he regretted the decision, but he was sick of trying to avoid her, when she sought him out to earnestly.GrnGriff Text to that annoying b***h: You want to talk so bad? Fine. She almost didn't go. Every time she re-read the text, she could see the look in his eyes when he told her to leave and that he never wanted to see her again. She really didn't know if she wanted see that kind of malice aimed at her again, not from him, anyway.
Just before, however, she found herself heading to the training grounds. She hadn't sent a reply text, seeing as she hadn't been sure about showing up. Sherry did want to talk, though.
Because...I can't just leave it like that. There was more to it, but at this point it was all a recycled conversation.
Sherry sighed as she reached the grounds, her eyes looking for that familiar jerk of a hunter, Jake.

Part of him hoped she wouldn't show. It would have been easier. He didn't want to deal with her anymore, but as he arrived, he caught sight of her, and frowned.
"Didn't think you'd show, and to be honest, it'd be a lot easier if you didn't, but apparently someone's hard of hearing and doesn't understand what it means when I say I NEVER WANT TO SEE YOU AGAIN."
The weapons were summoned, and he glared at her.
"I'll hold up my end of the bargain if you win, but should I win, and I have every intention of doing so, make sure I never see your face again. Choose to ignore this, and I'll take matters into my own hands."

"Honestly," Sherry sighed again. "I almost didn't come. I get it. You hate me. I just don't know why." And that hurts. She shrugged as non-nonchalantly as she could. "But you do realize," she tried to sound aloof as she spoke, summoning Armagnac into her right hand. She didn't want to seem to see like she actually cared. It was easier if one didn't care, wasn't it? "That your request might be impossible. Think about it," she gestured with her left hand, "island. Job. I can try to stay out of your way, but I'm not going to disobey orders just because someone has a childish request." Her hand tightened around the middle of her weapon, and she moved quick, bringing the glaive up parallel to the ground, the butt end of the weapon resting along the underside of her arm. The point came up level with Jake's face, the three rings clattering lightly. She wasn't quite close enough to hit him, but she wasn't hoping to, yet. "I'll accept your terms to the best of my abilities. But don't try to kill me just because I don't go hiding in my room all day." HP: 50/50 Target: Jake Damage: LOL. Off to the best start. His own weapons were summoned also, and his arms rested at his side as he glared at Sherry.
"Then let me ask you this. Why do you think I'd like you? And all I'm asking is that you don't deliberately seek me out. Did I not make it quite clear I don't want to see you? I know I have no control over missions, but I'm sure a simple request as this can be granted. Or are you really that much of a lost cause?"
He didn't flinch as the glaive was pointed at him and scoffed.
"If only it was that easy."

Sherry's eyes narrowed. "Why do you think I'd like you?" That was a damn personal question. Answering it would mean letting her defenses down. The aloof anger she was trying to channel was the only thing keeping her from turning back into a blubbering ball of emotions. She forced a shrug and pulled Armagnac back, stepping into a much more relaxed stance."Armagnac likes to tell me I hope a little too much." Sherry sighed an exaggerated sigh, then looked Jake in the eye. "I'd like to know what changed." The tiniest bit of ache swelled up in her chest. Sherry gripped Armagnac tighter, and tried to squash the feeling with her anger. It helped that her weapon was a giant ball of rage in her head. A rage Sherry held onto. "Why, all the sudden, am I so very horrible that you don't even want to see me?" HP: 50/50 Target: Jake Damage: 0 Items: Flask Charge: 0

He gripped the tonfas tighter, gaze never wavering.
"She's right. You should listen to your weapon more."
Ignoring the voice, he continued glaring.
"You want to know what changed?" he shifted into an attacking stance. "YOU did. I made it quite clear I was never interested in such things, didn't I? Ever since I met you, I expressed no desire in wanting to become friends, let alone anything more, and yet, you pushed the boundaries. If anything, you only have yourself to blame."
He stepped forward, swinging the blades at her.
"Please, you should thank me. I'm only helping you get rid of these useless feelings. I have never, or will ever return your feelings, so stop deluding yourself. The more time you spend with me, the more you keep hoping, and the more my answer will be 'no', I DON'T feel the same way. You're only inconveniencing the both of us."

Normally, Armagnac would have acknowledged the fact that Jake had just said she was right. At that moment, she only growled something about innards and pulling them out.
Sherry cringed as she took his first hit. "I didn't change. But you're right. This is all my fault. I suppose I did force you to be my friend, but I thought you were ok with that. You even invited me to join you a time or two."
She adjusted her stance, and came in with a counter swing of her own. "You know, I walked into your room the other night expecting a certain amount of rejection. I wasn't expecting hate."

He arched an eyebrow at her.
"Invited? If you mean those times you barged into my room, I didn't technically invite you. You invited yourself. I didn't want a headache from Chester, so I dealt with it, but I didn't know it would lead to this."
The blow wasn't strong, but it was enough to show that she was starting to somewhat take this seriously, which brought a smile to his face. A cruel smile.
"Again, you're just deluding yourself. I only ask you for spars or training because it was convenient. You honestly didn't think they were dates or anything, did you? What a childish thought."
He responded to her attack with one of his own, stronger than before, and sneered at her.
"Well, guess what? I did reject you. Reality's a b***h. Deal with it."

Words could sting. They stung even more than the next hit Jake threw at her.
"Of course I knew." Her words were terse. It wasn't a lie. Sherry didn't like lying. But damn. The truth could hurt, too. "I knew they weren't dates. Just because I liked you didn't mean I wasn't happy being your friend."
She took another swing at him.

"Obviously," Sherry muttered through clenched teeth. His hits were almost as hard as his words now, and it didn't help that her shield was weakening.
Armagnac, still a boiling torment of anger, grinned her mind. The 'I told you so' was done in feelings.
Sherry was forced to admit it. All of it. She'd been beyond stupid. Beyond blind and foolish and pushy. She knew how much the truth could hurt, but it still stung. Deep, sharp and cold.
"I'm sorry," she said. Then she hit him again.

Her attack seemed to reflect her feelings, which made him grin.
"Don't be. I'm glad you told me your intentions so I could prevent it from getting worse."
Was he taunting or consoling her? It was hard to tell.
