Who: Asteria and Cedar
Where: Clarus Arbor

Asteria was never one to venture outside the confines of her cozy home when she wasn't questing, unless she absolutely had to. Unfortunately, today was one of those days that she had to go out. Why? Because she had to sell a vast quantity of surplus produce....and she ran out of bacon, eggs, and milk.

Asteria trudged along the path that lead to the town's square, for today was the town's farmers market. Asteria finally arrived on time despite carrying the heavy basket filled with carrots, squash, tomatoes, and sunflowers; it was times like this that she really appreciated having strong arms. Asteria nervously glanced around her as she saw the rest of the people setting up their stands and quickly decided to set up her booth at the very end.

Even after having lived here for a while, Asteria was still paranoid about the people living here. Take it there weren't many people here in the first place and not a lot of people bothered to come here...but still! She saw a couple women around her look her way and whisper among themselves, so she quickly went about setting up her stand.

She knew that while nobody (that she knew of...) held ill will against her in this town, she was still the talk of the town for plenty of reasons. First (and probably the nicest reason), her produce was probably some of the best in the town. Second, she was wealthy and didn't really work at all. And finally, she almost never came out of her home to socialize. Asteria then began thinking about what those women could've been saying about her. Maybe the whole town had some sort of nickname for her that she didn't even know about! And maybe it was a nasty nickname too! Or maybe those women were Witch-Eaters and.......maybe they were just commenting on her vegetables like normal non-WitchEater women do. Yeah, vegetables....it was probably just that!

Asteria shook her head and finished setting up her stand. Once finished she noticed that a handful of her carrots hadn't grown as big as the rest. She gently picked them up and decided that she could still make them grow a bit more, since they were just uprooted plants. Asteria then pulsed her magic through them and watched as they grew to the size of her other carrots. Satisfied with her job, she set them down and hoped that this day would go along peacefully and without much talking.

Cedar opened up her shop in the town square, her slender fingers flipping the sign to read open and her helper who had been replacing Lea waved from behind the counter as she strode out the front door with the farm's manager. "If I'm not back by closing, you know what to do~" She chided and then as she walked with the manager they put their heads together.

They began discussing what to do with the over stock produce the manager read off what was left after the store had been restocked. Making notes as Cedar counted down on her fingers. Selling to the restaurants in town and then reaching out to the outer areas.

Cedar loved her family's farm, well her late family's farm. The only reason she still had it was because it produced jobs of locals and those people were kind people... She never rebuilt the home but instead had it plowed away and putting in a flower bed that grew such lovely flowers. She frowned some, more so to herself as they strayed into the market place. She stopped for a moment and looked around. People came from all over Makai to get produce and meats from the farms in the area. And her farms success really wasn't even her own. Her family died when she was a teenager, granted it passed to her but if it hadn't been for the workers...

She heaved a sighed and graced the manager with a smile. "That sounds like a good plan. Thank you again for all your work." She patted his shoulder. Soon she would leave the farm to the workers so she could go about her life. She enjoyed running the store and that's all she wanted to do with the farm now.

As she started to walked through the market she glanced to the side and noticed a younger girl. She knew she knew her for some reason... She was a local, but not often seen... No! It was from Lumena.

"Excuse me?" She walked over to the girls stand, her autumn hued eyes took in the girl. "You were in Lumena when... Right creature attacked yes?"

Asteria looked up and saw a girl about her age...she looked very familiar. Oh yes, the Lumena incident....something she wanted to forget had happened but still lingered in the back of her mind. "Yes, I was there.....umm you were there too, right? With the tree moving and the neck pulling...yes?" Asteria sighed and twiddled with her fingers and looked around nervously with her green eyes.

She wasn't very good at talking with people....she just wasn't. She felt so awkward during conversations...and from the looks of it, this girl was most certainly not here to admire her sunflowers. "I take it you're not here to buy sunflowers.....but maybe you would want some tasty squash...or some carrots!" Asteria inwardly cringed; if the young lady was here for produce she would've said so....and she wasn't making it any better by blurting out the first thing that came to her mind. Maybe the girl was here to make friends and Asteria was just making a fool of herself by being awkward and paranoid. She didn't look like a she would be a Witch-Eater.....

Asteria sighed and berated herself for her paranoia. If she kept this up, she would become a spinster and die alone as a crazy plant lady! That's probably what everybody in town called her anyways: the Crazy Plant Lady! But if she just calmed down and stopped for a bit, maybe just maybe she would be a normal plant lady? Asteria decided that offering a nervous smile to the stranger would be the best course of action.

Cedar blinked at the girl in surprise. It hasn't occurred to her that she might have spooked the other girl. She rubbed her nose lightly and then smiled as the girl blurted out about her produced and then the nervous smile. Cedar realized sometimes she might come off as bit forward.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you like that... Or at least you seemed kind of spooked. " She moved to put her hands on the stall's counter. "I will buy some squash though, regardless. I forgot to grab some of my own." She sighed lightly, she always ended up paying for things she could get for free from her own farm. She was to forgetful for her own good sometimes.

"However!" She said excitedly. "I... Wanted to talk to you about what happened... Or rather. What you -did-." She stared at her intently and then realized that she was and backed away. "I mean, how you did that with the roots. I have fairly good control over nature, but I haven't seen anything like what you did." Cedar was still a bit young when her parents died and she missed out on a fair amount of training for her Nature magic.

Asteria was pleasantly surprised that the young lady had apologized, most people wouldn't do such a thing. Asteria relaxed a bit and complied to the girl's wish to buy some squash. She then handed her the largest of the bunch along with a sunflower "The sunflower is on the house."

Asteria wasn't sure whether to be mortified or glad that someone noticed her lack of comfort around people. However, the girl seemed to be doing her best to engage her in conversation without being forceful. Asteria gave the stranger a smile and decided to listen to what she had to say.

She twiddled her fingers and thought about the best way to answer the question. "Well...if I want a plant to grow I umm simply make it grow.....it's hard to explain but it just happens that way. I guess you could say I tell it to gorw and it obeys. I could show you....if you want." Asteria sighed, there was no real answer to this. However, Asteria was also curious about this girl. "If you don't mind me asking, how is it that you move trees?"

Asteria slightly smiled as she realized she was having a conversation with this girl. While it hadn't started out the best of ways due to her paranoia, it was still a start for her. "My name is Asteria. Asteria Rangecroft! Ummm.....what's yours?" Maybe just maybe, she'd be able to make friends.

Cedar looked at the sunflower and she grinned as she took the gift. "Thanks, it'll look great on my table." She carefully took the squash too, and placed it in front of her as the other girl began talking. That was the hard thing about Nature magic. It was something unconscious in most people and so it was hard to talk about it.

"I would greatly appreciate it, if you did show me." Seeing it happen, seeing the 'flows' one might call it; could greatly increase the chance of understanding. Cedar had two strong nature based parents. She should be able to learn most anything. But even then there would be things out of her limits.

"The trees... Well, anything really." She stated. "It's a little easier for me to explain, then it is to show. See, I can hear nature talking, the grass, the trees, even the rocks... Though they don't offer much. But I offer them a part of my soul, it opens me to them and them to I and with that I'm able to move them as I choose. However it can be very dangerous."

She nodded some, remember what her teacher had taught her.

"My name is Cedar, Cedar Rayne." She smiled and offered the girl her hand. "And I am so very glad to meet you."

Asteria looked up at the girl as she explained her abilities. Her eyes seemed to grow larger with amazement at the girl's words. "That sounds so amazing! It makes perfect sense though, if part of your soul is in something, you should be able to control it. Wow, I wish I could listen to what nature says, maybe I could figure out how to make my plants happier!"

Asteria caught the girl's name and looked at her outstreched hand. She smiled and took the hand gently in her own "Thank you Cedar, I'm very glad to meet you too. You have such a lovely name, like the tree!" Asteria smiled and almost giggled at the thought of successfully socializing. Maybe she would make a good friend after all.

"Oops! I almost forgot to show you" Asteria rummaged around her bag for a seed of any kind. She finally came up with a pink apple tree seed. She cupped the small seed in both of her hands and willed the magic to pulse through the small seed, willing it to grow into a very small and tender sapling. It didn't take much effort since she stopped at sapling status. Sure enough the small sapling stood proudly in her hands with its small green leaves and thin branches. "I could make it grow more, but were not in my garden....umm would you mind accompanying me to my house? It's not too far away."

Cedar watched her as she moved and Cedar watched the girl. She saw how she pushed her back into the seed and urged it's growing. It was interesting and even something Cedar could see good uses for. For a lack of better words her magic forced an early growth. The best part was that it didn't harm the plant.

She reached out and touched the sapling. "Oh yes of course." She smiled at the other girl. Seeing the plant grow in the soil would be even better. "Lead the way~ Though, is it okay to leave your stand?" She took a couple steps back. The Market had picked up since it was around noon time.

As the sun reached it's highest point the air warmed up and everything was active.

Asteria looked at Cedar and had to admit she had a point, the market was picking up and she knew people would buy her produce. 'But I can't just leave the sapling like this!'

Asteria bit her lip as she thought of something. She finally thought of something! She gently set the sapling down and rummaged again through her bag and found a piece of paper. She then took out a fountain pen and wrote a quick message that read as follows: Will be back shortly. Asteria looked at Cedar and smiled "It should do for now. We shouldn't take too long."

With that Asteria took the sapling in her hands once again and started walking in the direction of her abode. "Follow me! Umm if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask." They would be there shortly, and for once Asteria was eager to show her home to someone.

Cedar laughed at the sign and she nodded following the other girl to her home. The sapling wasn't in any danger, nor was it frightened. But who was she to tell this girl anything different? The thought and care she had for the sapling made Cedar feel very happy.

Cedar also knew the general area that the others home was. The farms were always located at the edge of town because of the needed for the land. When they arrived at the others home Cedar looked around. She could see the others magic in use. Things that would take others another week or longer to grow were already grown here.

After a couple of minutes, Asteria finally arrived at her home's front yard and started to look around for a good spot for the new tree. "Ah...ummm I think this would be a good spot for it." She then set the sapling down while she dug a hole in the ground with a nearby spade. "Phew...that should do it!" With that, she placed the sapling inside the hole and covered it with soil.

Asteria stood up and looked at Cedar, "I would umm not get too close to the tree.." She then approached the sapling and crouched down in front of it and placed her hands on the ground. Asteria then stared intently at the sapling and pulsed her magic through it. The sapling grew and developed in a matter of minutes until at last it was large enough to bear fruit and to be climbed. With that done, Asteria stood up and stretched a bit; tree seeds always took up more of her energy than normal. She then looked over at Cedar and gave her a small smile.
"Umm, do you want an apple?"
