 The little pink and hearted mare clipped along, her tail swinging jauntily behind her. Parfait felt in a surprisingly good mood that spring morning, though she was at a loss as to why. Maybe it was the weather and the increasing signs that everything was coming to life again after the long winter. Flowers bobbed their heads in the breeze and the sun spread across the long, green grass of the meadow, though a few clouds could be seen and they occasionally caused a moving shadow over her as they drifted in front of the sun.
The weather and surroundings were definately doing wonders for her state of mind, though she had definately been feeling out of sorts lately; lonely and grumpy if she was honest with herself. Spring also usually meant that she would see more and more foals, new happy mothers and she'd not even found herself a mate! She'd had such high hopes of finding the perfect stallion, her fairytail Prince who would sweep her off her hooves and they'd go off into the sunset and have the perfect life...
Here she stopped and sighed, shaking her mane and aimed a hoof at a nearby flower, kicking the head and knocking loose a few petals.
'Maybe I should just stop daydreaming..' she said out loud.

Wen Tian watched as the wind gently stirred the leaves in the nearby trees. He smiled as the wind grazed his face. The breeze had been cool but no not bitterly as it often was during the harsh winter months. He perceived the season was slowly changing and warmer months were on the horizon. Wen Tian whistled happily at the thought. Wen Tian was born during the warmer months and he regarded them with true affection.
The wind settled into a kind breeze that brought the scent of wild flowers to his nose. The smell of spring flowers was rather intoxicating and he followed the scent to a patch of flowers that were being furiously attacked by a mare. “ Poor flowers what did they do to receive such treatment?” He questioned the mare in a sad manner.

Parfait jumped about a mile when the male voice seemed to come out of nowhere, and she turned, replying;
'Nothing I guess, it was just there and I was feeling annoyed, and..' she shut her mouth as her eyes finally connected with her brain and she registered what she was seeing in front of her.
'Wow..' she said, the word slipping out before she could stop it, her cheeks burning and going a deep red when she realised that she had said it out loud.
'Err, I mean, hello!' she said, trying to act chipper, as though she hadn't just put hoof in mouth. He was though, in her eyes at least, the most remarkable looking stallion she'd ever seen.

“Hello ,” he replied in a friendly manner. He was glad she was no longer hurting the flowers. Even flowers felt pain. He smiled at the mare, “Wow you jumped so high it looked like you were flying. “ Wen Tian looked up and gazed longingly at sky. “ I’ve always admired birds and have been envious of soq who are gifted with flight. Alas I was not gifted those talents since I’m a mix breed and my Quilin side is predominate. Though I can make my little wings flutter from side to side and I can hover off the ground for a few seconds. Somehow my ability to hover makes me long for flying even more. It’s like a metal block that you push against but can never break.” Wen Tian mused and gazed at the mare surprised he was telling her this. Normally he put on a bravado in front of strangers and seldom shared his real feeling. With some concern he gazed at her reddened face. “Are you ok. Perhaps you've gotten too much sun.”

Parfait stammered a bit, feeling like a perfect fool in front of this..this Princely looking stallion.
'Well, I..err, I guess you surprised me, I thought I was alone out here. That's all.' she finished lamely, wishing that she could rewind time and have this first meeting again. Someone like him she would like to meet when she wasn't talking to herself or caught unawares.
'Oh? Yes..I guess it is.' she hadn't really thought much of birds and flight, for she was as close to the ground and as grounded as one could get.
'You can? That sounds really fun, even if it's only for a short while. I mean,' and here she giggled, giving her best smile.
'It's much more that I can do.'
When she realised he had seen her blush and was now looking at her more intently, she blushed further, and her words became stilted again.
'Yes, yes, I'm okay..ju-just the sun.'
That was less embarrassing then blurting out that she was blushing because she thought he was the most magnificent male she had ever seen, right? So she just agreed, even though the sun didn't really bother her and she liked to lie out in it.

“ I’ve never thought that hovering was practically fun as I was always pondering on my lack.” Wen Tian smiled brightly.”Thank you for teaching me to enjoy what I have. When I reflect on my past experiences I realize I was too negative. “ Wen Tian chuckled “To think I used to be a teacher on the shamanic arts and I was still unaware of my inner core being damaged due to my negative thoughts.
Thank you so much for teaching me this particular lesson. However I’ve been rather thoughtless to your condition. Perhaps it would be best to find you a bit of shade and let your face cool from the harsh rays of the sun. Miss..” Wen Tian paused as he reflected on his gross conduct of behavior. “Well I gather we haven’t been properly introduced I’m Wen Tian. “

'Oh?' Parfait's brow wrinkled a little, she never really pondered too deeply into what and how she thought - well, unless she was bemoaning the lack of a love life to herself. She figured though that being to fly even a tiny bit was something to be content with.
'Umm, you're welcome I guess?' she said, smiling. It didn't really matter that he was talking in a way that mostly went over her head, he was pleasant, and of course, good looking. She was curious about what he talked of though, and she wanted to seem like less of a complete ditz than she already had.
'I'm sorry, teacher of shamanic arts?' she echoed, managing to pronounce the to her, foreign word.
'I'm not sure what that is if I am honest.'
She shook her head at that suggestion;
'Oh no, I'm really fine. And my name is Parfait. I am pleased to meet you Wen Tian.'

Wen Tian gave it some thought before turning to Parfait. “Many herds have a shaman a soq who can go to an altered state. In the altertered state they often see visions and can advice the herd on upcoming dangers or tasks that have befallen the herd.
Think of it as another plane/realm in which the spirits are able to communicate with the shaman. Your physical body is still in this realm but through meditation or herbs the shaman in able to send his/her spirit self out.
I myself used both meditation and herbs which can be rather addicting. As you will see if my lizard familiar comes out from hiding. He rather unusual as he is a Hookah-Smoking lizard but he is a wise little fellow for all his eccentricities.”Wen Tian smiled fondly in admiration for his unusual familiar.

Parfait gamely listened as Wen Tian spoke, attempting to understand all that he was saying, though a great deal of it sounded like a foreign language to her! Altered states, and other realms - communicating with the spirits was about the only thing she kind of got, as she did the same, but it was more a plea when she was fed up than anything else.
'So you can help others by going into the 'altered state' you spoke of?'
What she had managed to glean was that he was very clever and could do things she'd not dreamt of..of heard of. It was a little intimidating for a mare such as herself, her life was pretty simple.
At the mention of him having a lizard familiar, she brightened and called out a name.
'Teamo!' she said, looking past the stallion and listening. For a moment nothing happened, and then the grass nearby rustled, and a little pink lizard scuttled into view and scampered up Parfait's fore leg, coming to rest on her shoulder.
'Teamo, meet Wen Tian.' she smiled at the stallion.

“Yes I can use my gifts to help others this ability I find a source of great pride.”Wen Tian smiled brilliantly. “Teamo,” Parfait shouted in a musical call.Wen Tian ears twitched back and forth as they made out the sound of an approaching creature. His eyes narrowed on a patch of grass that shook back in forth.
A little dusky pink lizard like lightning raced across the ground and climbed up parfait shoulder. “Why aren’t you a pretty thing. Your scales are a lovely pink color that is a shade or two lighter than your companion. You have bright intelligent eyes and a long strong tail.” Wen Tian said as he winked at Teamo.
Turning to Parfait, “ Your fam is quite stunning. The two of you seem to be well matched. “

Parfait tilted her head as Teamo scritched at her neck with her little claws, and then winced as she dug in a bit harder in order to climb to a new spot, perching on her head between her ears. She flicked one ear as she settled into place and chuckled.
The lizard puffed her cheeks, looking proud at the compliments but didn't say anything, just blinked at the stallion and nestled in Parfait's mane.
'Thanks.' she nodded, smiling.
'So your lizard is..hookah-smoking, is that what you said before? Pardon my ignorance in such things, but I don't know what that means.' AislingJuno Ugh, been so long since I played my familiars that I've forgotten their genders - Teamo is female lol

CitrusCupcake Most people don't rp their fams-Thinks I've only rp with my fam ziggy. A lot of gender mistakes have seemed to pop up in the main thread with this whole fam breeding. Where people think a certain fam is of one gender and then the look at their cert and it says something else.

Parfait nodded as he spoke of the bond between himself and his familiar.
'Oh I wouldn't change her for anything, but whilst she is a good friend, she is also not a substitute for friends of my own race. And I sadly have few of those.' she said with a half-shrug, as if she didn't mind being lonely, but she so did.
She tilted her head, pretty much getting what he was saying, but unsure as to whether she should sympathise, or find it slightly amusing that Wen Tian's lizard friend had such a strange addiction.
'Well I guess if it makes him happy, and doesn't harm him? I think the only thing Teamo likes too much of is sunbathing.' she chuckled. AislingJuno Heheh yeah I have a hawk that I was so sure was male till I looked at the cert XD

"Well that’s understandable it must be rather nice to feel the heat gently warm your skin if you’re a cold blooded creature. Though I can’t think being in the sun all the time would be good for your health but we all have our little vices. Hers seem rather harmless and everybody has to have enjoyment in their life.
But on more thought do lizards every get sunburned? She’s a rather pretty pink color but if she burned it might be rather hard to tell. “ Wen Tian tried to wrap his mind around the logistics of a lizard getting sunburned. It never occurred to him to see if caterpillar man sun burned but scales were not skin. Parfait on the other hand burned to a delightful pink color that Wen Tian thought was rather delightful.
“ I’ve traveled much in my younger days and while I have had friends traveling tends to strain friendships and they slowly slide away. I am just relearning how to make friends and I would like to start a friendship with you Parfait.”

Parfait nodded.
'Well, like you said, she has to do it as it warms her body. So I think in a way it is very good for her health, as she would be all sluggish otherwise..' she giggled.
'Oh I don't know, I think she likes being pink, so being even pinker wouldn't bother her. Maybe that's why she sunbathes more than she needs to!'
Parfait nodded again, understanding that if one travelled all the time it was kind of tricky to make a firm friendship, and then she blushed terribly again as he suggested they become friends. Get a grip! she chided herself, it's not as if he is proposing!
'Umm..yes I would like that, I mean..I think we are becoming friends now, don't you?' she said, smiling. She certainly felt that way, he might be smarter than she was, he certainly knew more things and complicated words, but she felt she was cheerier of the two of them, and she liked the thought of making him see all his positives, as he had many of those.
