It seemed that Maslin and Lazuli's luck had run out, the pair had found themselves on Eowyn, challenging a Kiandri dovaa for it's soul. Maslin was working on adding dragon souls into molten metal to see if that might add an immunity to the element the dragon had been. With Kiandri being a rare sight on Serenia Maslin only had one of their souls and was not willing to pay the monetary price for another.
That had lead to a hunting trip on Eowyn, a dangerous one at that what with the Kiandri dragons having a strong elemental dragon over both the hybrid man and his drakein partner. Maslin had managed to blind the beast just as he was falling to the ground in agony, body covered in pain and then suddenly numb from having been so thoroughly shocked. Lazuli had jumped forward to save him but the lightning blast had still hit both of them and now neither could move.
The pale hided Kiandri roared and walked slowly towards them, it could not see them but it could clearly smell them.

Akilae had some of the worst luck on Magesc, the ferry he had boarded to take him home after a mission had had an engine malfunction and needed stop temporarily on Eowyn. Passengers like himself had been encouraged to explore and amuse themselves since the docks were nowhere near the Malro desert where battle amongst the races was common. In an hour or two the engine would be in functional shape again.
Of course the desert wasteland like region hadn't been all that exciting to look at and Akilae had found himself more bored than when he'd been just sitting and now he was tired as well. The grey hooded robe he wore while traveling like this protected him from prying eyes but it made him too warm on Eowyn and if he were to take it off his dark skin would only attract even more unwanted sunlight.
Just as he was about to head back toward the docks the roar of a dragon mingled with more human sounding cries of pain caught Akilae's attention and he darted forward toward the sound. Rounding a corner he spotted an angry looking Kiandri dragon, an barely conscious peisio drakein and... another hybrid. His horns and scales would claim his to be dovaa but the feathered quivering wings on his back screamed orderite.
Akilae couldn't very well leave the pair to die to the dragon, and willed what plantlife there was in the area to aid him. Scraggly looking weeds burst from the ground and somehow tripped the golden hided beast. Seemly unable to see for some reason it stumbled headfirst into a nearby wall of rock, stunning it and causing it to collapse.

Maslin could still not get to his his feet, but he could at least see when a robed stranger had approached and tripped the dragon. They were clearly a ysali dovaa, he thought as he reached out to his magic and brought spears of light down upon the dazed Kiandri, ending it's suffering though not his own. It was sort of ironic Maslin mused as his vision grew hazy and another spike of pain dragged him down into unconsciousness.

Akilae had been startled to see the light magic occur but at the same time had been grateful when the spears punctured the dragons body and it began to die and disintegrate. He was still new to using his dovaa magic and it was quite draining what little had had just managed. that and he'd not wanted to get anywhere near close enough to the dragon to try stabbing or poisoning it.
As the Kiandri faded away, the young boy carefully moved around it's still occasionally sparking body towards the downed magescan and his drakein companion.
"Maslin sleeps," came a pained voice.
Dark green eyes shifted to look at the drakein, who was trying valiantly to lift it's head and address him.
Akilae nodded and paused in his advance, he was too small and unfortunately too weak to lift either man or drakein to a more secure location. " I could send for help," he offered although not entirely willingly. He didn't need to get further involved with this pair then he already was, they could be on no use to him and while he didn't want them to die he couldn't risk them getting nosy about him either.
" We heal, we will survive," the large blue drakein rasped. " You can run dark hybrid."
Akilae nearly swore at that, drakein did have better senses than humans and this one could clearly tell he was more than he seemed beneath the robe. With a frown he offered a quick nod and turned on his heel and began to walk away, pausing only to grab the orb he was owed for his part in the battle.
In the distance the booming horn of the ferry, the signal to return to the docks, went off and Akilae broke into a sprint, any lingering concern he had for the two he was leaving behind rapidly fading.

Lazuli lowered his head and watched the robed boy leave. In other circumstances he would have liked to have made friends but this boy had smelled of unease and darkness. It was dangerous to be out here alone but he could already feel his magic returning to him and with it would come the ability to heal himself and his sleeping bonded. They would manage just fine on their own, although Lazuli intended to suggest that they pick a less dangerous type of dragon to get souls from for a while.
