Nearly twenty-four hours after she'd learned the news that she'd be sent to Scotland, Sasha found herself at the Doctor's door. Her stomach was uneasy, and a damp sweat settled across the back of her neck.
She paused at the Doctor's door and smoothed her hands down the front of her skirt, straightened her trainee jacket, tucked her hair behind her ears and finally lifted a hand to knock against the Doctor's office door.
Lowering her hand to her side, Sasha shifted on her feet and waited for permission to enter.

Sasha's shoulders drooped briefly before she straightened and slipped into the office, closing the door behind her with a soft click.
"Sir." Sasha paused.
"Sir, it wasn't sexual assault. I just want to make that perfectly clear."

Looking up from his paperwork, eyes bright with mirth, the doctor actually laughed. "If you think so, my dear. Though sex does come in so very many flavours you know, perhaps it was and you just haven't realized it yet, hm? But enough of that, William is the Sun's problem at the moment. Now, come here," he gestured for her to step around the desk.

"Well," Sasha relaxed visibly at the Doctor's laughter, moving about the desk with almost feline grace, "it wasn't assault. He and I both know exactly what it was, but for what it matters, it was consensual."
Sasha came to a stop before him, head tilting to the side. She offered him a slow smile.
"I hear I'm to be sent away. Scotland?"

He leaned back and looked up at her with hooded eyes, "Yes, there's an old estate that reverted to the council after a rather tragic event. They saw fit to let it moulder away unused, but with their ah...sad absence, now, I feel it's time to begin clearing and restoring it. There may also be items and information of use to us as well, as it housed generations of the family that created and led this division for centuries." The doctor smiled, pleased, "Its a project quite near to my heart, you know."

"If it is near to your heart, I will treat this assignment with nothing but the utmost reverence, Doctor."
She picked at the plain, stained trainee jacket she wore, brow furrowing.
"Anything I need to do to prove myself worthwhile and capable, I'm willing to do, sir."
Sasha watched him carefully as she leaned her hip against his desk.
"You have my word."

Affectionately, he reached up to cup her cheek, "I'm sure you'll exceed all expectations, dove, you always have. Now..." his hand slipped around down to lay on her neck, not quite holding it. The doctor's eyes darkened, but his voice and expression remained pleasant as he continued, "...what lesson did you learn from recent events?"

Sasha's eyes flared briefly, her lips parting just slightly.
What had she learned? Being trusted with a project that the Doctor himself gave to her didn't seem like much of a punishment. She couldn't help but feel as if she'd won this battle. Sasha swallowed, parted lips bowing into a slow smile.
"To behave myself, sir. When it matters."
That smile faded, turned a little bit black.
"And to always come out on top, sir."
This was a small setback. Nothing more. Sasha watched the Doctor, eyes dark.

His smile grew teeth, and he tilted his head a bit to the side, considering her. "Every society has it's lines, my dear, because every society is made up of those who'd like to think themselves protected by such. Even here at Deus, cut off from government and religious influences, even after the casual slaughter of it's old leadership, people think they're safe because of rules and regulations set forth by some supposed higher power." He stroked a thumb gently down the line of her throat, "And that....is just so very, very convenient."
The thumb stilled and his hand tightened just enough to be uncomfortable, all expression dropping from his face, "So when you decide to cross those lines, my dear, make it count." He let go, and gave her a terribly gentle smile. "Do you understand?"

Perhaps it was hearing those words fall from the lips of the man she respected more than any other source of authority on the island, or perhaps it was the pressure of his hand at her throat - but Sasha stilled, her expression going blank as she listened very carefully to the words the doctor spoke.
"Yes, sir," Sasha nodded, lifting a hand to her throat. She pressed her lips together, eyes still dark.
It was at that point that it became perfectly clear that Rep was not worth her time.
There were much bigger fish in the sea.
"Make it count."
That black smile returned, flickering across her lips.
"When can I expect details on my assignment, sir?"

"Excellent." Approval filtered into his expression, making him pleasant once more, "You'll find an information packet in your room. This first week, I expect you to simply explore the lay of the land, secure and settle into a base of operations. There's a chance that beasties both terrible and mundane have taken up residence, so it's best not to simply barge in."

"Yes sir. Will I be the only one handling this assignment, or will I be meeting up with anyone else?"
There was a hopeful tone in her voice, almost as if Sasha preferred to deal with this on her own.

"I'll leave that decision in your own, very capable, hands," the doctor's eyebrows quirked bemusedly at her tone. "Now, your time here is running down, are you quite prepared?"

Sasha merely nodded.
"Yes, sir. I'll just need to stop back at my room - I've switched rooms, sir, I'm in 118 now - to pick up the informational packet. I've got everything else I need ready to go."
She edged back around the desk, pausing to watch him carefully.
"Thank you, sir."
