I pass, like night, from land to land;
I have strange power of speech;

Since we're all adults... does anyone in here vape? I've been vaping for 2 years and it was a perfect fit from day one. I quit smoking in July 2000 because of health issues stemming from being a chain smoker for 15 years. It was one of the hardest things I ever did. Vaping wasn't around at the time so I used what was available - the patch. It was a 3-step patch, and I spent twice the recommended time on each level. I got off the smokes but always had to keep myself from starting again. I did not turn into a dedicated non-smoker as so many do. I wanted my cigs back and smoked about a pack a year, usually when I was very stressed out or having a cocktail. Then I discovered vaping. I got a starter kit with digital smokes that looked like cigarettes (cig-alikes), felt like a cigarette, and pretty much mimicked smoking, just without the 4000 deadly chemicals, tar, smell, etc. I still use my cig-alikes, but also have vaping equipment that is quite different. I don't use my vape box in public because I don't want people to think I have some kind of portable bong... altho, that would be kind of nice. wink

So...
Do you vape?
Do you know anyone who vapes?
Do you have an opinion on the practice?
Should it be allowed in non-smoking areas?

That moment that his face I see,
I know the man that must hear me:
To him my tale I teach."

I've never smoked the real thing or the vape but I know few who uses the vape. It's been bit controversial here in Finland because the authorities are not sure what to classify it as. Should it be smoking product or not. In here you can't buy nicotine packs for the vape legally due to this reason but a lot of people still use it since it reminds them of the real thing so much and it helps them to stop smoking. (I've seen only these cig-alikes in here)

In here there has been also a lot of discussion about if you should be allowed to smoke the vape indoors or not. (It's illegal to smoke indoors in Finland) I'd say that if the smoke is just water steam then why not, if the vapor has chemicals like nicotine in it, then no one shouldn't have to be exposed to it unwanted. In Finland at the moment the product is classified as borderline smoking product until the authorities have proofs from long term testing that vaping and second hand vaping doesn't harm your health.

Some states in the U.S. have proposed laws to treat and tax the e-cigs like tobacco. The federal government has lobbyists trying to persuade the same legislation nationwide. So far were doing OK, but have lost a few battles. I'm fortunate to live in a state with no legislation on them. The big tobacco companies have buzzed about putting out their own lines of e-cigs, which I think is a double-edge sword. On one hand, they have a powerful lobby that might help block bans. One the other hand, most people don't trust big tobacco (with good reason) and I'd hate to see e-cigs linked to tobacco...it could be more hurtful than helpful.
