Sephora Querida wandered slightly inland from the shore, eating grass as she went. It had been a long morning, begun with a small fight between herself and her mother. She had been trying to get away for a little while, just an hour or two, to go exploring, but nothing had come of it - she knew her mother would become more stressed out than she already was if Sephora was even a little bit late. An hour or two of freedom from her mother's overprotectiveness wasn't worth the long term effects it might have on Kalypso's health or their relationship.
Now on the edge of the forest between the brush and the beach, Sephora was bored. She'd long since discovered that flying, though fun, took a lot of warming up before any kind of progress could be made in her skills. Fluttering her wings boredly, Sephora looked around. There had to be something around here to do... Anything was better than eating or walking on the slipping sand, at this point. Walking further into the forest, Sephora peered deep into the trees. Was that something in the distance...?

Dzigits peered outward from the big-top tent. She was relaxing for now before prepping for the day. They had only just recently arrived and after setting up the tent everyone had gone to get breakfast. She wasn't very hungry. She didn't like eating right after arriving at a new place. Ziggy liked to look around first, get familiar with the surroundings instead of confining herself to the tent. Soon it would be nothing but practice, balancing on the tight rope or the giant circus ball. (Mother wouldn't let her balance on anything else right now.) But right now she wanted to explore a little.
She could smell something fishy and watery in the air, and the sand that was tracked around the undergrowth of the forest told her that this was a very different place. She nodded to one of her fellow performers to let them know she was going out, and then she moved towards the breeze of the ocean.

Yup, there was definitely something out there. Something huge and colorful, with something little and colorful making its way toward her. "Hello?" she called, looking at the tiny thing as it got closer. It looked like a miniature horse, but with little fins on its sides. Fins? she thought to herself in a panic, but quickly brushed away the thought and its implications. Something so small as this being approaching her couldn't pose much of a threat, or at least she thought - and they weren't near enough to the sea for a kelpi or some such nightmare to pull her under. That was, her mother finally explained to her, what kept her away from the water's edge: the threat of a feral kelpi, lurking under the surface and waiting for its next meal. Sephora had always thought it was a myth, having never seen one herself.
Glancing back in the direction of the beach before looking back at the little figure approaching her, Sephora did a double take to study it. She - a teeny filly, by the looks of it - was blue and white, like the sky, with black accents. Was it possible that the fins were only for decoration, like she'd first thought about her wings? Whatever the case, Sephora put her guard up a bit... Who knew if this child had kelpi parents or something?I'm sorry this is late. >.<

A new scent interrupted her journey to the ocean. She could tell instantly it was another Soquili, but only because she could see the mare as she walked towards her. She was very tall. Ziggy had seen many tall Soquili watching in the audience, so it was nothing new to her. She traced the mare's gaze to her fins and she flapped them as she walked daintily towards the mare. She wasn't worried about her being a threat, she seemed rather taken aback by Ziggy. Besides, one scream and the entire circus would be upon her in seconds.
The little filly finally stopped and blinked up at the mare curiously. "Hello," she said with a light smile, "I'm sorry ma'am, but the circus doesn't open until sundown." She looked over her shoulder towards the tent. She could see stirring of others who were either still munching on breakfast or were beginning to get things going. They had to start early or it wouldn't be ready by opening time. She peered up at the mare with interest, her eyes going towards the delicate wings on her back. She wished she could fly, that would make her act so much better. She looked at her own fins again, flapping them hopelessly at her side. The sound of the ocean called to her again and she stepped around the mare politely. "I'm going to see the water, would you like to come? Maybe the circus will be set up later and you can get a tour," she suggested, trotting towards the beach. No worries, my response was late too. x3
