just a heads up, im male irl OK, about when i was 7/8 my mom left a skirt lying in the corner of the room were my mom leaves clothes she is going to donate, i was little, board and idk why but i tried it on. i really liked how it felt and continued to wear the skirts my mom left in the donate pile for years, until I ended up trying on my moms tops, non donation skirts, dresses, and eventually even panties. my mom found out about 6/7 years ago when i was 15/16 i don't remember exactly when and that was kinda weird. one day i just blurted out "mom, can i try wearing one of your skirts?" and she let me for a few mins before she had me take it off. when ever we talk about other people cross-dressing she says "more power to them" or "i envy the people who have the courage to do stuff like that" but when i mention me she says "I'm all for letting your freak flag fly, but that's too much" or "that's just a little to extreme" witch is confusing. about 3 years ago as an attempt to lower the urge (she knew i was sneaking wearing them when she wasn't home and didn't like that) she started letting me wear panties since she didn't have to see them or hear about it. I like panties, i find them really comfortable but that isn't my favorite kind of woman's clothes, so infact it may have made things worse. i still want to wear skirts ALLOT. Here, to ad more confusingness to the story, about a month ago i mentioned to [/color:a600

Wow. That is super rainbow-y.... emotion_jawdrop
Anyway, crossdressing can be really affronting because it grates on gender normative roles. This is why male bodied men can't wear women's clothing (while here I am female bodied wearing jeans and no one gives a ********) is resounding marker of sexism. Its okay for me, a woman, to dress like a man, but yet its not okay for a man to ever defile himself with woman's clothing. The degradation comes from wearing a lessers (re: woman's) clothing. A man "lowers" himself by wearing woman's clothing. All of that is the unspoken subtext of gender normative clothing, and American culture.
I would also suggest not wearing your mom's stuff, but attaining your own clothing. I know I would find it really weird if my hypothetical child was trying on my underwear, I would want them to have their own.

I have no clue why people feel that way about crossdressers. Crossdressing is fun, I would do it more often if there wasn't a stigma against it... although most people are okay with girl crossdressers because many cross-dress ALL THE TIME with men's pants and shirts.
I'm an asexual female/androgyne and I think crossdressing is fun, although I haven't done it outside of cosplay yet (I really really want to own a men's suit and tophat. So fanceh.~ Men's jeans don't fit me right, though. I want another wig too.). I don't give a damn if I see a guy wearing women's clothing. I understand these people. I don't understand those who think it isn't okay or freakish. It's just clothes.

What I've noticed: Gay is generally socially okay when you're not being very rainbowy, flashy, or prideful about it.
Cross dressing being under this category. (Which I find funny cause it's not just gay people that cross dress)

i actually know that statistically speaking more straight guys cross-dress then gay guys. and me cross-dressing has NOTHING to do with the fact I'm gay. I like to wear skirts and dresses, oh well. whats wrong with that? also if it helps, sometimes like to mix guys and girls clothes and that seems to be slightly more accepted. why?

Blackrose_Knight I would also suggest not wearing your mom's stuff, but attaining your own clothing. I know I would find it really weird if my hypothetical child was trying on my underwear, I would want them to have their own. I stopped about 3.5 years ago wearing my mom's clothes, and when it comes to underwear, i never wore my moms underwear. about 3.5 years ago my grandma was shopping and bought "boy-short" panties on accident and thought they were for men because of the BOY in the name. I was staying at her house and she asked me if i wanted them and i actually accepted them thinking i could use that to start my own stash, but my mom found out and let me keep them witch is why i wear panties 24/7 now, and for those wondering I don't just wear what was in that package, i have bought more panties over the years. and as for other clothes, my best friend was gonna come to town and meet me offline for the first time so my aunt who works at a thrift store offered to start saving clothes for her. I saved them in my room and when that never happened, I ended up trying them on and I found they fit me so with my best friends permission the clothes became mine, its not much, like 2 dresses and 2 skirts plus a few tops and random stuff that doesn't fit me but would fit her since she is like 2 sizes smaller then me. also my grandma lets me wear girls clothes over at her house cause she is cool with it (she has bought me my own) but no one knows that sept my best friend and my grandma.

No worries. I would look for support in your grandma seeing is she doesn't mind. Maybe she can help your mom understand how you feel? Depending on how old your mom is she may think this is for sexual reasons (which it okay if it is IMO) but she may just be confused and sad that you are doing these "wrong" (she was taught it was wrong) things. I totally okay with crossdressing. My husband likes to throw on some of skirts (they are way easier than pulling on pants) its no big dealio in my house.

Sigh, I hate the idea of people not being able to do things because of "gender norms" sad If you ask me, you should be allowed to be whoever you want to be, and do what you want to do, if crossdressing makes you happy, then you should do it! smile If you want you should totally share some pictures, sweetheart, I'm sure you look amazing heart

Emo Kuromi Nui First, please tell me the code for the rainbow text, I must become one with my skittles side. For all it's worth, your prob adorable in skirts. talk2hand No, this is my Skittlie goodness and I ant sharing
and BTW, as to looking adorable, on a scale of 1-10 I'd day I look like a 6/7 in a skirt, just a little higher then nothing special, but I don't really try to look adorable, I just wear them for comfort.
also i sometimes mix and match male and female clothes and yes, I'd be willing to wear the clothes in public, or at-least like to wear them in my house. It can get really annoying not being able to wear what i want cuz alot of times I will see a girl walking by in an outfit I like and my brain will just kinda cry's out "why cant I be aloud to wear a skirt too".

I think it is perfectly fine that you're a cross dresser!!! There is nothing wrong with it! The important thing is that you're happy and comfortable in what you are wearing! The reason why people react to it is because people aren't used to seeing people cross dress.
