Kaleb sat alone upon the stage of an empty school gymnasium, his paws actively strumming his guitar as always. The remnants of party streamer, bottles of soda, and napkins lay strewn upon the waxed floor of the room, memories of a party only a teenager could dream for. A banner still hung above the stage like a sign of glory and honor. "Welcome back Kaleb, our beloved musician!" was painted in various colors and sparkles upon tarnished cloth, symbolic of how long it had been in use.
Black eyes shimmered under the lights as they gazed at all that had been laid out for his homecoming and memories of a less than lovely childhood began to creep back up from the grave. His old enemies wanted him as a friend, his best friends had all married and gone away, and the new young ones in the school didn't quite understand his music. Still, he played his music in the emptiness of the room, allowing the echoes to flow back through him like vibrations. Music was his hope, his security, and solace from the awful feelings that loneliness could bring. He looked upon his guitar with pride and adoration, it was a treasure that stood both the test of time...
... And the tests of all that looked upon it's maestro with ignorance and doubt.

It was the lovely sounds of Kaleb's guitar that piqued the ever curious interests of Vincent Hallmark, the God of Valentines Candy. While he had only thought to take a simple stroll down the street for his daily box of sweets, the desire to find whoever was playing such a gorgeous melody overcame his need to quench his sweet tooth. He padded softly down the halls of the school, observing how colorful the decorations were, and made a full stop at the entrance to the gymnasium.
There, strawberry hued irises peered through a crack in the door, and furred cheeks rose in color. The musician was a maroon colored male that sent his heart into a flurry of flutters and beats! The melody of the guitar and the beauty of it's player were in perfect harmony. How handsome, how ravishing, how perfect could this young man be? Vincent pushed the door open and moved to sit in a spot where Kaleb would see him, once he finished playing, of course.

Of course, Kaleb noticed Vincent wander into the desolate space of the gymnasium, and he smiled graciously at the larger male. Clearly, he had been graced with the presence of a Godly noodle, and his confidence soared. This was wonderful! A God appreciated his music... Wow. Just, wow. He couldn't describe it in any other fashion.
He would play his heart out, he would show this God the vibrations of his soul. His paws began to flitter about as they composed a melody deemed fitting for the God awe-struck before him. The notes would describe his pink hued fur, the twang would invoke the glitter of the gems upon his forehead, and the rhythm would denote how grateful Kaleb was that he took the time to be his audience.
The masterpiece went on for several minutes, but once finished, left him breathless and awaiting the other's approval. "That was for you, sir." He panted, smiling. "I hope you enjoyed it!"

More than serenaded at this point, Vincent looked about ready to melt into a puddle of fluffy pink goo. Somehow he knew that the beautiful piece of composition being played as he sat was made just for him and his heart thumped on and on to the resonating beat. He could feel the other's effort to please him and a smile grew on his face. How could one not be lifted away by such a glorious sound? Especially if it was being played by a handsome musician such as this one was.
Once the song had finished, Vincent began to clap and cheer for his musician, before leaping up onto the stage. He nuzzled Kaleb and purred, gazing lovingly up at him. "It was absolutely magnificent, my dear." He said, sighing contentedly. "Tell me, what do you call it...?"

Kaleb flushed bright red as Vincent nestled up against him. He hadn't expected the other to come this close to him, or even give him the time of day for that matter, but the warmth of the God's fur felt oddly comfortable. His muscles relaxed and he let himself lean into the nuzzling. Whatever he was feeling, it felt wonderful.
"I call it Heart Strings," He murmured. "Because of how the notes tug gently at your heart when you play it..."

"Aaaah, a fitting name..." Vincent replied, shifting so Kaleb could lay his head in the crook of his neck. Yes, his maestro felt soft as silk, just as his music had been. Where had he been all his life? He couldn't possibly have spent his whole life playing to an empty room. He was too beautiful!
"What is the name of it's composer?" He asked. "The one who lays so softly upon my chest...?"

"My name is Kaleb..." Kaleb replied, now completely relaxed in Vincent's embrace. It seemed that he had fallen in love with the stranger that held him "captive." He had never experienced such a warm, dream like sensation before in his life. "What is your name... If I may ask...?"
