Maia whistled to herself as she wandered through the decrepit city. She imagined it had been beautiful once and she wondered what had caused it to fall to such ruin, for its people to abandon it so thoroughly. The thought that perhaps she should not be there did not even cross her mind. Pausing at a few of the more stable looking buildings, she searched through them, picking up random goodies as she did. They must have left in a hurry to abandon so much wealth, she thought with a slightly greedy grin when she found a small treasure trove in an old jewelry box. Pocketing the jewels, she wound her way back out onto the street and continued on until she found another building that looked as though it were stable enough to explore. Approaching it, she pushed the door open and glanced around. Such finery, even in its dilapidated state. She wished she could have seen it before it had fallen to pieces. Her home certainly would not be able to have compared to it, she thought as she turned to start searching the downstairs rooms.

Elora was sat peacefully on the couch sewing the quilt she had promised Cyrus, he had gone out to search for som more furniture and clothes for them to use and so she was passing the ime with herself. Their home was coming on nicely, they had a bed which was divided off from their living quarters by curtains, they also helped keep them warm at night. She could imagine it was winter as the days were short and the nights growing colder.
She heard the creak of the front door opening and looked up. "Did you find any?" She called. She had suggested he search the old department store and tailor's shops for clothes, or patterns and material she might be able to use to make them some things.

Maia paused at the feminine voice. Had she just imagine that? Lifting her pale brows, she turned towards the side parlor it had come from and peered at the small opening in the sliding doors. The thought that maybe she should not be there crossed her mind for a millisecond, but then her curiosity got the better of her. Walking over to the doors, she slid them open a little more and poked her head through. "Did I find any what?" she asked, glancing around the room before her turquoise eyes fell on the woman sitting by the window with a large amount of cloth around her.

Elora jumped a little at the feminine voice and stared at the girl for a moment as if she had seen a ghost. "Who are you?" She asked nervously, wondering if she was in danger or not. "Where did you come from?"

A wide grin spread across Mai's lips at the woman's surprise. "Well, I came from just down the road and before that, the city beyond this one and so forth," she smirked and moved to step fully into the room, her hands resting at her hips as she looked around again. It was a cozy little set up, she decided. "As for my name, I am Maia," she grinned and made a showy bow to the woman. "Who are you and where did you come from?"

Elora watched her warily and breathed in deeply. All the time she had spent alone she had never had anyone else come across her. "I am Elora, I'm from this city. This is my home." She replied, half smiling.

Maia's brows lifted and she took in the woman before her for a moment. She didn't look like she was any older than she was and she was pretty certain that there weren't any others around. Or at least there hadn't been for a very long time. "Elora. That is a pretty name," she smiled. "Forgive my intrusion. I was under the impression that there wasn't any one around. Are there others here? Well, other than your companion." She could only assume there was a companion, unless if the poor dear had lost her mind and had taken to talking to figments of her imagination.

Elora smiled a little. "Thank you." She said softly looking back at her sewing. "There is myself and my husband." She answered. "He will be home soon. I don't believe there is anyone else. We have been here for a long time and have seen no one."

Maia glanced to the door as if her mention of him would summon the man himself. "Just... how long have you been here, if that's not a rude question to ask? And I only ask because I was exploring some of the other buildings and it looks as though they haven't been touched in a very, very long time."

Elora smiled and shrugged a shoulder. "I do not know really. I haven't been counting. You must be thirsty and tired. I canot move, I was damaged when the city fell to an earthquake. You may help yourself to anything you need, we have food and drink over there in the kitchen area."

Maia's brows lifted again at her admission. "Well, thank you. You are very kind," she smiled as soon as she recovered. Though damaged was an odd thing to say. Usually people said they were hurt when something happened to them. "Would you like anything? I have some tea that I've picked up on my travels. I could make us both some," she smiled warmly and let her bag slip down to the floor so she could start to dig through it.

"Oh, tea would be lovely thank you." Elora said with a smile. "Are you going anywhere in particular?" She asked, watching her move around. It seemed strange that she had appeared from nowhere.

Maia grinned and produced the small tin of tea she was looking for. "Oh, no. Not me. I got fed up of the lack of curiosity about the world at my home, so I left to find the answers to my questions myself," she smiled and brushed some pale hair out of her eyes. "So I've just been wandering and seeing what I can see. I had heard some tales about this place, so I got curious and decided to find it. It wasn't hard, but a lot of people warned me away from it," she smiled and rose to her feet. "The kitchen is through here?" she asked, pointing to an entryway.

"Yes, just through there." She replied, lifting her arm to point. "People warned you away from here? whywas that?" She asked curiously. "Because it's so delapidated."

Maia's keen ears picked up the rusty creak as Elora lifted her arm. Tilting her head to the side a bit, she studied her for a moment. She really had to wonder why a sound like that had come from a woman. Turning her head to look back at the entry she had pegged to be the kitchen, she smiled, then gave a little laugh at her question. "Yeah. It was mostly because of that. Others said it was cursed. They said this had been a great city and it had fallen under its sinful ways, or some such nonsense as that," she grinned and went to the little kitchenette area. She got the water ready to boil and went back to the entry to lean against the frame. "You can see something natural happened here. It wasn't some sin-fueled wrath of some god or something."
