Name: Danika Teresi

Nickname: Dani

Age: 20

Birthday: March 23

Sign: Aries

Gemstone: Diamond

Blood Type: A-

Fav. Food: Pineapple. Fresh cut is obviously the best, but she'll pop flavored candies all day long if given the chance. Hawaiian meatballs are also at the top of her favorites list due to pineapple in the center~

Hated Food: Cranberries. Fresh, dried, or otherwise. Don't get her started on the juice.

School: Part-time at Destiny City University, she's slowly working towards a major in Graphic Design and a minor in Fashion Design.

_Hobbies___

Comics :: Never a huge fan of books, Danika wasn't so keen to leave her picture books behind as she grew up. Her father introduced her to some of his Iron Man comics as a compromise to try and teach her the fun of reading. Unfortunately, it didn't quite have the effect he was looking for. Danika still dislikes a mass of text staring back at her, but her walls are stacked with shelves and displays for her comic book collection. DC Comics in particular. Every Wednesday has her marching from work to her favorite comic book store, palling around with the staff and owners before collecting her weekly bundles of monthly titles. She takes particular care of her collection, storing them in binders, cases, and sleeves between readings. A chunk of her wardrobe is dedicated to superhero merchandise, and the majority of the accents around her room consist of famous symbols and figurines. Number one sight? Batman. She's even got a few novels dedicated to the Dark Knight she's been slowly picking through. Quite a feat there.

Digital Art :: A direct consequence to her obsession with comics, were her horrific attempts to trace and eyeball favorite scenes early in her art career with traditional media. It did the trick to get her hooked on making her own superheroes, plethora of villains, and of course enough near-apocalypses to make any comic writer proud. Years later, Danika still spends hours curled up in front of her computer screen, doodling and designing away. While trying to make her own comics is a tad more rare, her external is filled with outfit designs, posters and business cards for local enterprises, and every now and then a few commissioned paintings. Like many, Adobe programs and a Wacom tablet are her bread and butter, and though she was predominantly self-taught prior to attending college, she's thrilled to learn new techniques through her classes.

Clothing Design :: Within the last two years of high school, Danika developed a tendency to.... modify the clothes her mother would go out and buy her. Much to her mother's dismay, but it was hard to tell if that was due to Dani's disregard for her mother's tastes... or more from how badly Dani did trying to reattach sleeves and buttons to a shirt. A few lessons from her grandmother later, she began to avidly seek classes in both local craft stores, and community centers in how to sew and design clothes. Her mother stopped complaining about her daughter's "destructive tendencies" when Danika gave her a beaded dress she'd made for her one Christmas. A growing portion of Danika's room became dedicated to her dress mannequin--Charlie--and fabrics, until finally her parents allowed her to transform her father's old office into a proper work-space. All because her parents' remodeled the basement and included far superior offices for them both, but hey. Hers was now right across from her room, bonus! Danika has a strong preference for working with cotton and denim, as evident by the majority of her wardrobe not bought in the comic book store. Though she has begun experimenting with leather and more delicate fabrics, she still keeps falling back to buying any such piece she wants for an outfit, modifying it to fit her exact design, then making from scratch the rest of the outfit.

Hockey :: Once upon a time, a little Danika flew across the ice, ramming into opposing mini-skaters, and shoving them away from the puck that was destined for the enemy's goal. Throughout middle school and high school she kept up with her favorite sport and made a bit of a name for herself for it. As other hobbies began to surface though, and part-time jobs began to clash with school and hockey schedules, she was forced to drop the sport full time. She'll still go down to the ice rink when she has the free time and play a few rounds with friends--or strangers. Each year Danika and her family get season passes to the local games, and one can all but bet if they search the stands hard enough, they'll find Danika screaming and cheering for the local heroes along with the rest of the crowd. If not getting a little extra worked up when the shoving matches turn into all out fights on the ice.

_Virtues___

Tough Skin :: Danika has her calluses, physically and emotionally. Though she's been lucky to have supports throughout her life to keep from forming more than a few minor bouts of depression, these rough patches have helped to shape how she responds to the world around her. The good, the positive, Danika accepts and embraces in spades. The bad, the painful and stressful and harassing? She is able to withstand the pressures of these situations with surprising calm. Not that she enjoys the sensation of fighting the world each day at times, but Danika is able to smile and shrug despite the difficulties. The hardships of daily life always seem to affect her just a little less than someone might expect. She deals with the problems as they come, without the urge to run and hide. Even social interactions are reflected by this. Snarky, snapping, bitchy words roll off Danika without so much as a scratch to her. She'll meet each hostile interaction with a smile and a shrug, not add additional fuel to the fire. Her limit for stress and violent reactions around her is incredibly high due to how she responds and processes such events. However, even she has her ends, at which point she will turn to her more physical hobby to try and properly vent her own frustrations.

Abstract :: It isn't just through her art projects that Danika expresses her more... creative side. Her daily attitude and style are loud and upbeat, and her thought process is no different. She loves looking beyond the box in every aspect of life. Refurnishing and rebuilding old, throw-away furniture she finds for free by the sidewalk in someone's yard, or things she buys at the thrift store. Her outfit designs certainly range from the average to the... well. Adventurous. Danika takes pride in taking her time to look at the world around her, look at a problem at hand, and figure out a whole new way to tackle things. She finds immense fun in solving problems in ways as creative and unique as possible. This can certainly lead to her biting off far more than she can chew, unfortunately, which often just leads to even more problems she needs to whisk up new solutions for. To varying results, of course, but she's yet to hit a wall tall enough to make her reconsider her take on life.

Energetic :: Please don't give Danika any caffeinated drinks. She runs on enough of her own personal electricity without any liquid additions. Of course she still loves taking swings of Monster and coffee, but from morning to late night antics, she's got a smile and energy that never really dies. Danika is not exactly bubbly, but she's loud and vibrant as can be. Sure she can sit for hours on end working on her digital and fabric projects, but you can also bet she'll be talking a mile a minute on Skype or just her cell. She doesn't need to be always doing something, but certainly if you want Danika for something, any time of the day or night, just call her up and she's got the energy to be game. It's dominantly her outlook on life that fuels her energy. The desire to always be positive and bring as many good vibes to people around her keeps her mood up and her spirit high. It's not only her tough skin that someone has to compete with when it comes to trying to beat Danika down: it's her pure will to stay happy.

_Flaws___

Rough House :: You can take the girl out of hockey, but you're really not going to ever take the shoves and checks out of the girl. While she might not meet each stranger in her life with a body slam, Danika is a very hands-on girl. She expects handshakes, greets even vague acquaintances with a pat on the arm or shoulder, and the more familiar she is with someone, the more they're going to notice her tendency to be a little... rough. Elbowing, light punches to the arms, even kicking at someone's leg to get their attention are all the most common displays from her when she's dealing with someone she feels she knows generally well. Her rougher antics are at least usually reserved for people who make it clear they can handle her harder punches to their arms or torso, and who don't freak out if she tackles and jumps on them from behind. Usually. Telling Danika to "cut the crap" doesn't usually work. She views her more "playful" violent actions as just that, playful. Anyone who gets upset with her over it, in her book, just has something stuck up their arse. She'll roll her eyes and laugh to any reprimands, and one can all but guarantee she'll be back with her light swings and hip bumps the next day. Danika does draw the line at actually trying to intentionally hurt someone, and when the threat of cops gets called she'll put a halt to her antics... for the time being. Sadly, she's lost a few friends here and there due to her inability to just stop her joke shots and playful pushes. Still hasn't been enough to get her to change her behavior, though.

Foolhardy :: Danika's silly, active behavior doesn't end with some playful pushes and shoves at friends. Energetic and full of smiles, she's a girl who loves to get up, go outside, and just run. As reckless as she is rough and tumble, it's all cares to the wind when she so much as walks down the street... really, too willing to be just happy and not focusing enough on how big and serious a situation can be. While she hasn't exactly gotten into parkour, Danika's creative new paths through the city often lead her far beyond the sidewalks and streets. Not once does she bother to take into consideration how she could be risking injury from being up on high ledges, or even legal troubles due to, y'know, trespassing a lot of times as she cuts through properties. To her, it's all fun and exciting and a game. A test of what new route she can come up with, or new way she can move her body through a structure. Facing up against a problem with another person is met with much the same almost flippant, testing attitude. Yes, she is able to take the scathing words and harsh demands with a calm head, but her attitude displayed is nothing but too casual and calm. She doesn't fully consider what she's saying, or how she says it. Consequences are rarely taken into consideration before she's moving, acting, dealing with the world around her. They happen, and often, but she takes them in stride as new problems to deal with and figure out as they happen. People around her must either learn how to cope with Danika's rough, reckless demeanor, and hopefully realize she is taking the world into consideration in terms of how to otherwise deal with a situation... Or they had best walk away fast. Danika invites the fun times and games, even if she has a tendency to find them on the edge of a ledge both physically, and metaphorically.

Fanciful :: Call it a by product of growing up reading comic books and falling headlong into the countless possibilities available in those worlds. Danika thinks big, dreams bigger, and has a big tendency to get caught up in coming up with her plans to try and capture these dreams that she doesn't stop to realize how unrealistic they are. Visions of grandeur are her biggest problems when it comes to tackling projects--personal, for school, and otherwise. While these monstrous goals often are the main source that push her to learn new techniques and tactics, and certainly give her long-term goals she so desperately wants... the fact remains Danika often finds herself overwhelmed or under prepared for the challenges her ideas and plans lead her into. Each time she'll manage to at least keep her sanity in tact, stay strong and carry on, but the same can rarely be said for her actual projects. Many of her paintings and fashion designs have been stored away for later dates when she believes she'll have the ability to finish them. Her tendency to think so big also has a habit of interfering with her social interactions. Even for all the complications in the comic books, Danika grew up thinking dramatics and big antics were social norm, that everyone responded so well to them. Yeah... that really isn't the case in the real world. A fact she gets, but unfortunately isn't something she always takes into consideration before she acts or says something. Plans have a habit of blowing up in her face before they've really kicked off, if only due to their size and complexity.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Eyes: ██████ #7e1417 Round and heavily lashed. Prone to using mascara and eyeshadows reflective of her outfits.

Hair: ██████ #151313 Long and wavy, it reaches past her waist even when bound in it's usual braid. Her bangs reach down past her chin, most of the weight falling towards the left of her face to be tucked behind her ear. Basing it on the hair Succubi's Modesty Wavy Locks w/Agape

Face: ██████ #e4c0b4 skin. Heart shaped face. Lots of piercings on both ears, and one through her right eyebrow.

Clothes: Polyvore
Between the large chunk of her wardrobe being handmade at this point, and the other immense force being merchandise from her favorite DC heroes and heroines, Danika does at least have a few typical themes to her outfits. Skiny jeans are a favorite, especially paired with wild high heels--one might say she has a thing for heels, in fact. She prefers to wear a lot of bracelets and necklaces layered. Bright colors accenting too much black is relatively common, though every now and then she'll step out in something a bit brighter than the sun for the hell of it.

Knight Title: Themiscyra Page

Challenge: Ready to get beat by a girl?

Uniform:
Note! I keep jumping between black or brown for her main color so... CC? e__e;
Top A slightly more modern take on the Roman toga, heavily influenced from this dress. The main portion over her chest is a black leather--I was thinking maybe it can be a sort of breast/torso plate, with a dark grey dress under it? If not, then just a black dress. The cloth laying over would be red. Pattern/accents on the leather/dress is CC, if there is any at all, just please no repetitive use of the Mars symbol! The toga cloth should be opaque.
Bottoms Bottom of the dress above, reaching halfway down her thighs.
Gloves Silver bracelets that go from wrist to halfway up her forearms, plain in this stage except for the symbols of Mars seen once on each bracelet.
Belt A silver belt holding the toga in place, design CC.
Shoes Black leather Roman sandals, heeled.
Shoulders A silver pin holding the toga to her shoulder, has the symbol of Mars on it.
Accessories Her left ear has her weapon, a silver chain cuff earring. The other ear has a simple metal stud with the symbol of Mars hanging from it. Over her forehead is a metal tira, thick and elongated slightly over the top of her nose to protect it. Her other piercings are CC.
Weapon
Page__ A silver chain cuff earring--references for vague concept--with drops made of dark red crystal. The drop hanging from a longer chain at the bottom of her ear is in the shape of a spear tip. The cuff itself has the insignia of Mars on it. (( <-- I realize the art is going to be too small to show this, but I'm more noting it for IC/close up purposes! )) Other chains/accents are CC.

Squire__ A slender three foot chain with a two-inch, blunt dark red stone attached at the end. Reminiscent of this, though I'd assume the metal/wire/chain would need to be a tiny bit thicker to keep the stone from launching off the chain if swung. The opposite end has a small emblem of Mars attached.

Knight__ A decorated six foot chain whip with a blunt dark red stone acting as the final piece of the whip, no larger than Themiscyra's hand. The handle of the whip is adorned with the symbol of Mars. Concepts, exact up to artist: X, X.

Magic
Squire__ Those aligned with Order whom fight alongside Themiscyra might at times find themselves imbued with a fiery burst within their souls, giving a temporary boost to their physical attacks. The boost itself only lasts as long as her 30 second magic pool, and has no effect on magical attacks. The range of the boost is only within a diameter of six feet around Themiscyra, anyone who ventures outside of that range lose the boost instantly. Those whom do not identify as women seem to be unaffected by the magic...

Knight__ The rage of war burns bright in the souls of the Order-aligned whom fight by Themiscyra's side. For one minute, Order aligned combatants within a range of eight feet diameter around the Knight will find their physical attacks are given a temporary boost. She now can draw from a one minute magic pool to fuel her allies. Those whom do not identify as women, however, still seem to be unaffected...

The Summon

Summons Creature: An average sized black warhorse whose mane and tail are made of fire, and burning cracks rise from her hooves up parts of her legs. Ala Rapidash! Minus the horn. So extra-flamey Ponyta, really.
Summons Ability: When the warhorse rears back and its front hooves strike the ground once more, a thick line of fire forms two feet in front of the horse to act as a temporary barrier between it and the opponents. The fire barrier stretches out 10 feet in total length. The fires themselves do not burn either the ground they touch, or the people who get near them, though trying to pass through the fires shows they are still heated and uncomfortable to stand too close to. The barrier stands for 30 seconds and only acts as a barrier against physical attacks. Magical attacks can still be sent through the fires.

Reasoning: The Amazons, who resided in the mythological Themiscyra, were warrior women. It only seems fitting to me that the Knight of this wonder should have a summon suited for the battlefield... so why not a warhorse? That she's a Knight from Mars is what inspired the flames and heat. If allowed, I will be including in her past life that Themiscyra the wonder was a breeding and training ground for these particular warhorses, and Knights of Themiscyra were required to learn how to dominate and ride one of these powerful beasts as part of their training.

PostPosted: Sat Apr 20, 2013 6:47 pm

Congrats on your custom win, Kae! Definitely looking forward to seeing a new page of Mars in the shop!

For the most part this profile is pretty awesome! There are just a few things I want to touch on before stamping!

THE CIVILIAN

The only thing I want to pick at here is that “Foolhardy” is actually almost reading more like a hobby than a flaw! Certainly her trespassing and creative paths could lead to some trouble, but it almost seems like fun rather than something she could be disliked for, despite the dangers she might inevitably face! I’d just like to see a little more elaboration here, particularly in regards to the effect of her foolhardiness on other people! What about this gives them reason to dislike her? How would this trait inevitably affect them? At the moment I can imagine other people being dragged into it pretty easily, but I’d like to see a little more blatancy about why this is bad rather than fun and adventurous!

THE PAGE

Unfortunately, bladed weaponry is still not permissible for knights, so I’m afraid her weapon and the progression you have outlined isn’t going to work. You can review the revised knight weapons and magic here! Offensive-type weapons are certainly allowed provided the associated magic is more of a buff or defensive in nature (which yours currently is), but the weaponry itself should remain in the realm of blunt weapons, such as staves, clubs, and the like!

She can, however, definitely have some sort of a chained weapon, either more simplistic or with some sort of weight or blunted object at the end that could be used offensively! Her page weapon is fine, and I would consider a decorative chain at squire stage provided the rings are somewhat thin and less durable, but depending on what you would like the tip or attached object to be made of, it likely won’t be acceptable until knight stage! It would also have to be blunted! If you wanted to consider it being made of some sort of stone or crystal, something like this or this in shape would be good, or it could be a little more elongated provided it remains mostly curved/blunt. Metal would be permissible provided it follows the same guidelines! It should not be able to puncture with ease!

The magic itself looks fine! I do want to get some clarification on “Those who fight alongside Themiscyra”, though! Do you mean this literally, as in literally anyone Order and Chaos alike? Or are you referring more to her comrades, fellow knights and/or senshi?

There is also nothing in the rules that says you cannot have a magical ability that doesn’t affect men, so if you want to go with that I’ll accept it! I did have one question about it, though! What about its effect on men who identify as women, or women who identify as men? Or people who might consider themselves both or neither?

Also, knights will at some point be allowed the use of a Summon, which you can read about in the revised knight information link I provided above! If you wanted to go ahead and get that squared away and approved, you can definitely do so now! Or if you’d rather sit on it for a while and post the Summon for approval later, you can do that, too! Whichever you’d like!

Hey Sun~ X3 <3 Thanks for the crit, broke things down a little to give actual responses to each as I edit stuff in o3o~

I've actually been having a struggle with that section of her profile, so I'm not too shocked to see that here >>;;;

The trespassing and creative avenues are really only part of what I was trying to convey, I just... didn't actually move beyond them, herp. The more idea is that Danika is reckless in her own way, appearing very "caution to the wind" and even coming across pretty childish at times. She really CAN be a "drag you down the rabbit hole" sort of person if people around her aren't careful, or don't realize she's taking things more internally serious than outwardly. Otherwise, she's liable to piss people off just with how calm and "Eh, s**t happens~" she deals with the world.

...I hope that makes a bit more sense now XD;;;;;; -ducks-

Oops XD; Thought since the spear head would be relatively small, it'd be okay. BUT MOVING ON~

Changed Squire's weapon to a slender chain with a blunt red stone attached at the end --hope it's okay I yoinked your image there! Couldn't really find anything better 8<;;;; <3

Knight's weapon is a chain whip, with the final piece being a blunt red stone.

oxo; Detail and such on both I'm leaving up to the artist, but I hope the concepts are within reason for the rules!

Whoops. Meant her comrades, those aligned with Order. She wouldn't be happy to suddenly have a Chaos-fighter hitting her all the harder when she's trying to boost a friend in the area XDD

That... is a string of very good questions. Considering I'm taking the idea from the lore that Themiscyra was the capital of the Amazons, all-women-ftw aspect, I've edited to say that only those who identify as women are affected by her magic. Those who identify as male, or neither, would be left unaffected.

o3o Didn't see other people doing the Summon section, so didn't think I could just yet! Threw in info on that above, if they work oxo~ <3

I'm not... sure how "magical" these summons can be, so not sure if Themiscyra can be spared the flames, but figured it was worth a shot!

Kailey Koreco

The civ portion of her profile looks great now! Fleshing “foolhardy” out a bit more definitely makes it read more like a flaw! Great work!

As for Danika’s powered side, and the Summon in particular, I’m afraid there are just a few too many… variables… I guess. :[a Knight weapons and magic were always a bit tricky to begin with, so there’s bound to be some confusion here and there as everyone gets a feel for the revamped weapons and magic!

I want to delve into the Summon since that’s really the crux of the matter! A few people here and there have been adding a Summons section to their profile when they’re pushing it through crits and approval. Otherwise, players have been submitting their Summons for approval here, at least when it comes to existing, arted characters (approved but non-arted quests would submit their’s here, though as of yet this thread remains empty)! Either way, the Current Knight Changes thread is also a pretty good resource when it comes to developing a Summon, as you can get a feel for Summons and their abilities as well as what staff is generally looking for!

As far as Themiscyra’s Summon is concerned, the horse itself is fine, but the ability needs a little attention. With knights we’re looking for a balance between the offensive and the defensive. If a knight has an offensive weapon then their magic is defensive and vice-versa (although defensive + defensive is allowed as well, just not offensive + offensive)! What this means if that if you intend for Themiscyra’s weapon to be offensive, then her magic must be defensive, including her Summon! Right now you have that her Summon creates a barrier of flames and that anyone who comes in contact with those flames receives a burn, which is both defensive and offensive in nature. It should only be one or the other, and since it seems you intend for her weapon to be more offensive, then the barrier ability seems more acceptable for a Summon! You can certainly have it create some sort of a barrier of flames that an enemy is unable to penetrate, but it can’t burn them! It can feel hot and uncomfortable if someone draws too close, and I’m sure some characters would even be afraid to approach given that flames in and of themselves are frightening, but it cannot cause physical damage of any sort! Even if her weapon was defensive, we usually try to steer people away from using fire offensively since fire can be a little OP. To compensate, you don’t have to have her mount the horse in order for the barrier to work. Having to mount would probably be a little inconvenient for her to begin with. A Summons’ abilities are more things that should be done upon command rather than because she jumped into the saddle! We’re also looking at Summons as only being able to use their power once in battle, so keep that in mind as well!

As your quests stands right now, the profile, weapon, and general magic are all ready for approval! If you wanted to continue working on the Summon and get that accepted right now as well, we certainly can! Or if you wanted to consider it a little longer (once Summons are officially released, knights won't be able to unlock their Summon until their third stage anyway, so you have plenty of time!) and go through the Summons Approval thread when you have your art, that’s fine, too! It’s really up to you!

I'd actually like to get the Summon squared away now, so I can incorporate some aspects of it/info on the horses in general into her past life information and some character development ideas as she goes through her stages :3 <333

So! That being said, I edited the summon's magic to only be a line of fire as a barrier. Added in its length--which, I'll be honest, I have no idea if it's too long, so I'm fine making it a bit smaller--and that it's unable to actually burn anything. Added how long the barrier stands for, aaaand also said that it only really is a guard against physical attacks and magical attacks can still be sent right on through.

o3o; I'm fine cutting things down if needed, just after looking at other accepted Summons I'm still not FULLY sure what the best size/time limits are... sorry to be a pain, Sun! |DDD;;;;;

Thanks so much for breaking stuff down like that though, it's been making a lot more sense :3 <3

Kailey Koreco

You are not a pain at all, I promise! Just want to make sure you'll get something you're pleased with and let you know you do have the option of waiting if you'd like!

10 ft is fine for barrier length! There's precedent for that! "The width of the area Themiscyra summoned the horse to," on the other hand, should probably be removed as it's rather broad and makes it seem like the barrier could stretch pretty far if she were out in an open area with no natural or man-made barriers around as an enclosing! The "whichever is smaller" clears that up a bit, of course, so you meant that if the area was only six feet across then the barrier would only stretch that six feet instead of ten. But for the sake of limiting anyone's confusion there I'd just say the max is ten feet and leave it at that!

As for how long the barrier can last, ten seconds is rather short! The ability to use a Summons is drawing from the same energy pool (plus ten extra seconds) a knight has to perform their regular magic, so the Summon can be around for as long as it takes to exhaust the pool of energy! (Unless you're using the Summons and regular magic at the same time, in which case you get half as much time for each!) Since the Summon's ability should generally only be able to used once, you're welcome to increase the time on that barrier to... thirty seconds? That seems fair to me. :[a

I appreciate it, trust me x'D <333333 Just feel bad that I don't have the best grasp of what's good for durations/limits BUT hey yay for things getting cleared up and all is well ewe <3333

Yeah, thought it would be best to try and clear up the barrier would only fill an area that's smaller width than 10 feet and not... somehow still remain at that 10 foot length (much as a folding barrier would be cool, pft) but I can see how that'd also be confusing so took it out.

owo Oh, okay, sweet! Upped the time of the barrier to 30 seconds then! Thanks for that.

Apft. Now I'm all the more excited to get her to Knight rank to play with this x'DD
