Dizzian lay sprawled on Courath's back as both floated in the cool waters of the lake, baking in the mid-morning sun. Maybe they were supposed to be doing something. Chores, ... drills, ... something. Dizzian couldn't remember. It was too hot to remember. The recent heatwave was murderous even for a native such as herself. If the weather would just break she might feel better. A little rainshower, or even just a few clouds would be welcome right now. Or maybe her attitude had more to do with her dragon, and less with the blistering heat. Dizzian rolled over and pressed her face to the soft hide between Courath's wing joints, fingers curled and scratching at one of the scars on the green's left side. She felt the large body beneath her thrumm with pleasure. Maybe she should stop stressing about it... neither goldrider had seemed exactly thrilled with their first flights. Maybe it wasn't all it was cracked up to be, but then she still didn't know what was going on with Courath. For all Dizzian realized, she could be mis-reading the signs and Courath could just be incredibly healthy for the first time in her life. Dizzian snorted at herself and thumped her forehead down. She was a failure as a rider. This was ridiculous. Little lower... there Courath heaved a great sigh into the water, blowing bubbles along the surface. Her eyes glittered like blue jewels as she turned to look back at Dizzian. Are you ready love? Let's get you indoors The dragon began to move in the water, turning towards shore. "Hmmm. I suppose. It's getting too hot." Dizzian sat up and slipped forward on Courath's bare neck, taking her normal seat behind the last neck ridge. She loved how natural it felt, even without the harness and belts that normaly strapped her down. Whether she rose or not in the end, they had this, and each other. That all she should really care about. Outside of their weyr, Dizzian slid off and stretched. "I'm going to change clothes and check in with D'lin. I'm pretty sure we missed something." Don't worry about him. Plexith will know. Dizzian gave Courath a confused look (for the umpteen-millionth time these last sevendays). Courath just chuckled mentally, turned around with lightning speed and launched into the air, the restrained purples of lust finally taking over as she sang out a clear bugle of invitation. Show me your strength! Show me your courage! I will only be caught by the bravest of Trine! -------------------------------------- Sign ups are still open through the end of today. You have plenty of time to get in on the first round of rolling! Blues: Roll 4 D20 with each post Browns: Roll 3 D20 with each post Bronzes: Roll 2 D20 with each post Numbers to Match: 2, 9, 15, 6

Asoth was still fuming with M'lan for making an excuse to be away from the Weyr when gold Cephieth rose, they'd arrived back at the Weyr just in time to see her caught and Asoth was upset.
However when the pretty Green began to show signs she was about to rise any day now, Asoth paid close attention and refused to go out of the Weyr. In fact he made a point of hanging around the Weyrbowl, close to the feeding pens just in case.
He was ready when Courath bugled and taunted him, and other gathered males that had been waiting for her to Rise after the frustration of losing out on a Gold.
"Beautiful Courath! ... surely you can see i am the bravest and strongest here" he replied to her, flashing his wings wide before sweeping up after her.
On the ground M'lan groaned a little, he didn't think he'd ever get used to how much of a show off his Asoth could be.

Greens were slightly more Krith's speed, his size and agility making him a decent challenger for their attention. And the flights didn't usually last quite as long, and certainly weren't so serious. No. Green flights were for the pleasure of everyone.
He heard her challenge, and bugled his acknowledgment, though he spoke no words to accompany it. He knew his skills, and knew that the best way to win the pretty green would be to show them off. And that, he was more than willing to do.
Time to play, he remarked to F'nell, taking to the air. It was time to chase!

S'kiro was not prepared as Neptanth took off after the green. "Not again." It is the brave little green. I must chase her. That was all he told His, maybe S'kiro would understand, maybe not.
The large blue was not going to lose this time. He bulged an answering challenge. Fly fast my little friend

There was no notice to A'in as Troiseth took off. It was a green and she would watch as he did his air dance for her. The blue already had a prank, but maybe this time it wouldn't happen as he pushed to be the first one closer to her

They were heading to the lake, when Solath's eyes turned skyward. "What is it?" Before the blue could answer, F'iar saw the green take to the air. Chuckling he patted the dark blue hide. "Go for it."
That was all Solath needed. He took to the air, following the pursuit of the others already there.

Courath glimmered as the water from her swim was wicked from her darkened hide. She shot up into the air, taking these males who would be her mate high above the weyr where despite the intense sun, the air grew cold. The expanse of the southern continent lay exposed beneath them, jungles and mountains following the curvature of the planet and fading into a blue misty horizon. Her cheerful bugle urged them to follow her. Higher and higher, she would stretch their wings before testing their agility.
Courath recognized a few of those following her and to Troiseth and Solath, she crooned, a little playful brush of her mind touched theirs. She knew Hers would be happy to know they took interest.
Asoth's determined interest after the goldflight, and his speed upon her sudden announcement were both noticed and to an extent, admired. Handsome Asoth I see you are indeed a bold dragon! Take care though, bravery and strength are more than just bravado.
Krith also received an encouraging touch of thought and a mischievous bugle in return. That he waited instead of showing off immediately was promising. Timing and preparation were things Courath held in high regard.
Neptanth inally, got a full chuckle from her. Fast is something I am fully capable of. The question is dear Neptanth, if you can keep up! With that she folded in on herself and dropped, twisting through the air and back down towards the sparkling lakes beneath them.

Neptanth chuckled at her. This is what a flight should be like. He watched as his friends flew past. That was okay with him for now. He twisted his body to follow her high into the air.

The paler blue was excited, he was closer to the pretty green. What...that dark blue was just as close? No, he would get there first. Troiseth moved to block the youngster from getting to close.

The brown's eyes whirled in excitement when the green responded to him. Perhaps she was going to be a worthy opponent after all.
He shot up into the air after him, his wings spread wide. He was ready for anything that she might throw at him, and with luck, and perhaps a bit of skill, maybe he had a chance.

Solath was happy that they didn't have anything to do this day. His first chase and he wanted to be a part of it. The touch in his mind let him know he was noticed. He crooned at her, wanting even more to be noticed right now.
He had to move in response to the older blue trying to block him. It wasn't going to work that well. The darker blue pushed himself to fly faster to be in the lead.

Bother all these blues, they were faster than he was, especially since he was such a very large Brown. "Dear Courath, i am THE best, you will be mine!" he trilled to her as he beat his wings hard, sure he had more stamina than the Blues but they were faster... much faster.
That said Asoth was determined, he wasn't about to be outdone by a bunch of blues, he was Asoth!... he was the best dragon in the whole of Pern... well besides the lovely Green they were all chasing, SHE was the best for the moment but he would catch her and show these Blues just who was the best male dragon around, after all ... it wasn't HIS fault that he'd been out of the Weyr when the Gold had risen, he WOULD have caught her, he knew it... just like he was going to catch Courath...... he hoped.

Daroth had waited until other dragons were in the sky before deciding that he wanted to take part in the flight. Normally, he stayed with his rider and only his rider but the urges were too strong to fight. I must, Nasuymi.
N'ymi sighed. She had been on edge lately but it was more than a proddy green. Blowing her dragon a kiss, she wished him luck.

((Sorry for the delay. Sick sapped much of my energy this weekend))
Well that knocked Asoth's approval rating down a couple notches. Courath felt a hint of disappointment in the prideful brown's boast. She toyed with the idea of replying to him or now and settled for a neutral That remains to be seen. Her descent towards the water was controlled though her daring stunt was cut short as she pulled out of her dive well clear of the water, turning on a wingtip and shooting straight and low towards the weyr.
Another blue joined her flight, late, but not unwelcome. Courath trilled to him as she zipped by flicking her tail in his direction. He would have to work to catch up with her and her loyal followers. She would see if he had it in him to do so.
Right behind her though a trio of blues were jockeying for position. None of them were close enough to threaten the length of her flight, but their actions were being watched carefully. Courath wasn't one to ignore her suitors or try to escape them. Once again she trilled, calling to them and the second brown who followed.

The brown wasn't one to give up just because things were being difficult, and he worked on catching up to the gold. She was playful, teasing, but in the good way, trilling encouragements to those chasing her. Perhaps he have to spend some time with her when they were not in a flight.
He bugled back, letting her know that this brown wasn't out quite yet.
