Name:

Sahar

Age:
18

Gender:
Male

Sexual Orientation:
Homosexual

Craft/Rank:
Farmer / NA

History:

Sahar was one of those children born of a Dragonflight, his mother... a Healer and his father? Currently unknown Dragonrider of Trine.

Soon after the lustcloud had faded from the Flight, his mother had requested to join a caravan heading towards Iteos Hold; mostly to keep such a thing from happening again while the pangs of morning sickness began to affect her. It was from there she met with and stayed with her elder brother, Kash, and his partner, a minor Blacksmith by the name of Aarlon at their small farm a half seven days' travel from the Hold.

It was during her time here, she conceived a little boy after nine months...but not without complications that lead to her passing soon afterwards. His uncle believes it was a tear or a sickness even her healer skills could not prepare her for. Nevertheless, he and Aarlon took up the mantle of parents and raised young Sahar with as much love as his mother would have given him.

(Back to Sahar)

Hard work was a constant staple in his life; hard work meant food on the table and a roof over his head. It meant his family was safe and he took to it with pleasure. But, aside from infrequent trips to the Hold (due to dropping off harvest and the fact that...uh...."people" like his father figures were slightly frowned upon there, the lad had very little exposure to life on Pern; even the dragons that sometimes flew overhead were nothing more then something to cast a glance at from time to time. To him: Life was his family and the little flitter-bug that Uncle Aarlon kept around the house, the land that the crops grew from, the pounding of the hammer from the tiny workshop and the simple laughter over a morning and evening meal.

But it's amazing how quick those things change when you stare into the giant eye of Blue at the Hold.

Sahar and his Uncles had gone to the Hold like normal with some of their Harvest, intent on selling for food they could not grow or things Kash could not make in the shop.

The only abnormal thing...well, the giant dragon taking up a tail-load of space in the Hold Square and the Rider in all his riding gear glory calmly observing those who were staring back. Even moreso when said Dragon randomly picks you out of a crowd of oh so many and said rider manages to convince your family to let you come back to the Weyr. (Back to the Weyr? I was from there? Well....I guess it was a good thing I packed a small overnight bag before we left.)

But being uprooted is like comparing a modern-day country boy suddenly moving into the big city. And it sums down to two words:

Mind. Blown.

Yet, as far as the Revolution that had happened, Sahar knew very little of what had happened save for what was common knowledge. Despite this, the farmer had no malice towards the Wherhandlers...only a small sliver of curiosity that he kept to himself. Someone would open their mouth; he just had to keep an ear open on the gossip chain from time to time.

Thread? Now that was a scary topic; the events of that time had been a blur for the then-teenager. His parents had insisted on them hauling cart from their little home to the Hold for an amount of time unmeasured. From there it was the nervous energy, hiding, roars of dragons and the constant smell of something burning in the air. It was near the end he managed to poke his head out from hiding to see a rainbow of colors overhead clearing up the leftovers.

To say that he was impressed was an understatement.
Dragonflight was a rare sight in his little corner of Pern and anything that resembled them was eyed with appreciation.

Description:
Despite some form of muscle from work, Sahar has a more feminine figure of slender proportions (though everyone can clearly see that he is a guy). He stands at about 5' 11" and weights in at about 165 lbs.

A messy mop of black/brown hair and wide, blue-grey eyes bring out the wide smile that's constantly on his oval-shaped face. A small scar on the corner of his mouth traces upwards to just below his eye, unnoticed underneath his tan unless someone is literally face to face with him.

As far as clothing, he typically wanders around in a simple brown tunic and leggings with his favorite boots or barefoot, depending on the situation. Clothing that capable of taking a beating or two yet not fall apart after a scrubbing in the wash.
Personality:

Cheerful: Oh hi there! How are you? Sahar is one of those people who constantly has a smile on his face and an upbeat personality. It's very difficult to get him down but if someone should, he usually bounces back within a day or so.

Hard-working: Need that done? Okay, I can do that! Not a stranger to hard work or working all hours of the daylight, this young lad isn't afraid to get his hands dirty with a task. He considers himself a jack-of-all-trades to some extent.

Quick to adjust: Working hours generally don't mean much to Sahar. His body is fairly quick to adjust to something if a schedule should change or is something should crop up suddenly. If it's morning, he's out of bed with only a quick mouthful of drink. If night, you don't have to worry about something being flung in your direction to make you go away.

Naive: Sadly, for all his good points, Sahar is a country boy in all meanings of the word. He knows very little of Weyr life, save for what he heard from his family or stories at the Hold. As such, much of the way of life there is way over his head and he doesn't quite understand whats going on yet.

Non-aggressive: Pacifist to the core. Unfortunately, this doesn't help him very much in a fight. The likelyhood that he will run from a fight is higher then him getting into fistacuffs mode, especially if he's by himself. Now if someone was with him at the time, he'd probably be more willing but not by much.

As far as hopes for the future, his current one is of being some use to the Weyr. However, he is very much a "here and now" person and doesn't really think too far into the coming weeks and months. Whatever happens happens and he's gunna go with the flow, yo. Sure, he dreams of riding dragonback but, hey! Even if his dragon doesn't swing around, this young man will find someway to help out.

Free time? Sahar mostly uses his free time to take care of little chores when the day gets too full Clothes mending, restocking anything he's missing, stuff like that is normally done after hours; he takes a good amount of enjoyment of simply sitting back and taking his time, letting his mind wander while letting his muscle memory do all the work.

But the one thing he takes true enjoyment out of is a good swim or a good round of fishing. When all chores are said and done, the place he is guaranteed to be is somewhere near water either in a pair of old breeches, a pole over his shoulder or even both.

Fears and hates? Sahar is not typically a guy that can "hate", per say. Sure. he'll say that in a moment of jest or mock jealousy towards friends and family. Yet to really earn this style of mood, you would have to do something so evil and unforgivable that not even he can find that good spot anymore.

Sahar has three simple dislikes: Those who hurt others when they don't deserve it, people who make fun of those like himself or his uncles, and those who lord themselves above others. All three of these things are perfectly capable of pressing buttons that don't need to be pressed.

As far as fears.... Tunnel snakes are one of them, though most of what he's scared of is just heresay from people in the Miner Holds. Needless to say, he has no intention of ever willingly running into a beast and finding out fact from fiction.

Another has to be of deep places. Above the earth, he's fine. Below it, he begins to feel like everything is closing in all around him. The same goes for completely pitch black or very small spaces.

Other:
Sahar....he cannot cook. He is prone to burning even boiling water. Cleaning the kitchen he can do just fine but don't let him near any food. Not unless you want it completely destroyed or so inedible that even flits would turn their snouts up at it.

Hey! This looks great to me, but I would like to see a bit of expansion before I approve.

History - No problems here but I would like to know what he thought of the Revolution; word would have spread enough that he would have heard that wherhandlers had overthrown Benden and Malvren Weyrs but that Trine fought them off. Doesn't need to be anything fancy, can be as much as 'he didn't see how it affected him' but I would like to see the event mentioned. Likewise if you could mention the return of the Thread (a couple of turns back) and how if at all that affected him; had he seen dragons flying over and fighting it at ll etc?

Personality - Again no problems here but I would like a little more detail! Could you tell me a bit about what he likes to do in his free time, any hopes and dreams he has for the future, what his fears are, what he's passionate about and what he hates.

Thanks very much!

Thanks, that looks good! Approved!

The return of the Thread was before the Revolution, though that's my fault for listing them in reverse at you. Sorry! Don't worry about it though; you can swap them over if you have a moment but it's not a big deal.
