Boaz was never much of a morning person to begin with and he knew it. Mornings usually began hand in hand with his best friend the snooze button on the alarm with what followed at best fuzzy until he finally got some food into him. Some caffeine at times in the form of coffee or tea if he needed a perk me up after a long night. Especially those nights in which he hardly got to sleep a wink from spending a major part of it in the operating theatre to stabilize a patient whose condition had taken a turn for the worse. But it was all good in his books. He knew what he was in for when he decided to heed this calling.

He had his own place now and there was the occasional time when he found himself on the couch instead of the bed when he awoke the following day. That was in fact the very first thought that came to his mind as he blinked slowly a few times before pushing himself up into an upright position. And then it suddenly hit him like a brick that he wasn't in his own home since the decor weren't quite matching up with what he had.

"Hnn... where am I..?"

Strange. Did he get himself dead drunk last night to the point of landing up in a stranger's house or what?

Richard's condo may not have been the largest, nor the fanciest, but he did his best to keep it looking as good as it did (and by he, he truly meant his maid). It seemed like a place where a man could lay back and relax after a hard day of work, though with a few extra things lying about that would make one of good religious fate do the sign of the cross upon stepping through those doors. It was a one and a half bedroom condominium, with an open living room and kitchen and a hallway that led to Richard's bedroom and an office, though the door was closed and on it a yellow note that read 'KEEP OUT'. A little childish, but a warning, nonetheless.

Perhaps the most important bit of decor was the Irish wolfhound that was sitting patiently at Boaz's side, staring at him and likely having watched him sleep. When he woke, the horse of a dog began to wag his tail, but he kept to himself, watching the stranger that his master had brought home, and the voice from the kitchen, followed by the aroma of coffee and breakfast being prepared, were meant to help pull Boaz further into the dreaded world of consciousness once more.

"Good morning! Please, make yourself at home, and I hope you're a dog lover. Otherwise, don't mind Baldwin... he's merely wondering why you're on the couch and not elsewhere." Richard lowered the temperature on the stove and stepped further into the living room, donning nothing but a bathroom and a barely visible pair of sleeping shorts. He thought little of how the poor fellow must have felt, as this was nothing but routine to him by now. "How would you like your coffee? Black as the blackest night, or so creamy a cat would murder you for it?"

Lifting a hand to cover his mouth as he yawned, Boaz smiled sheepishly at Baldwin as he stretched his hand out next to give the Irish wolfhound a pat on the head. He didn't mind the canine's presence at all really. In fact, what he just did brought forth a nostalgic feeling of his animal shelter volunteering days back when he was still in school right up till his senior year in college. It really was a pity that he had not the time to do something like that anymore with the long work hours he had to commit himself to these days though that didn't mean that he had given up the idea entirely of adopting a mutt so long as his schedule allowed him to in the future.

"Good... morning to you as well." The blond finally managed as he leaned back on the couch and briefly closed his eyes, still requiring a couple more minutes to wake up proper at this point. "He's a good boy so we should be good here and I'll have something in between like a dash of milk if you could please. Never quite managed to get over the lactose intolerance ever since it started back in my college days."

Chuckling softly to himself, he opened his eyes and turned to where his host presumably was, only to fall silent and stare at Richard who was clad in nothing more than a bathrobe at the moment. Oh my god... was he wearing anything beneath that even? It was like a scene that had been taken out of the movies entirely. The morning after the customary fade to black scene just as things were starting to get hot and heavy between the couple.

The really funny thing was that Boaz, for the life of him, couldn't remember anything at all from last night. Not for now anyway that is. "Um... not to be rude or anything but have we met somewhere before?" A pause. "... I'm not forgetting something important that happened last night. Am I..?"

Baldwin was more than happy to accept the affection, as seen by the way his tail wagged even faster and his long snout opened to reveal a long, droopy tongue that dangled out of one side of his mouth. At the mention of his name, the Irish wolfhound's ears perked but he remained near Boaz, even as his owner emerged from the kitchen. His nose was wriggling and the smell of bacon was what caused Baldwin to finally leave Boaz's side, and the dog caught the piece that Richard threw to him. All the while, Richard remained pleasant and slightly amused, as he immediately recognized what poor Boaz was going through, and all the fun he could have with him.

"Baldwin's the best, hands down. Anyone who says otherwise is simply wrong." Richard made a point not to address the last bit immediately, wanting to have a little harmless fun while he prepared his guest's coffee. He didn't make a comment about him being lactose-intolerant, because that was just cruel, even for Richard! He couldn't imagine such a fate. "For breakfast, I have eggs, bacon, and I -was- going to prepare toast but I got a little distracted, though that would appear to be good fortune. Butter is dairy, right?"

In truth, Richard should have known this, given his profession, but it wasn't immediately on his mind. He grabbed a pair of eggs and the skillet, and to further agonize his new 'coworker', he took his time to ask a simple, but very important question. "We haven't met prior to last night, I'm afraid. Scrambled, fried, sunny side up?"

He knew he was being cruel, but Richard couldn't resist the urge. It was simply part of his nature, and besides, no one told him that he couldn't have a little fun. Life was a game, after all, and there were times where it was okay to play without a full deck.

Man's best friend. Of course. Boaz chortled softly, the accompanying bobbing motion of his head already a clear indication of his agreement with Richard's words on Baldwin as he went straight on to address the redhead's question about the butter. "It is. And so is cheese for that matter, but it really is only the milk that causes problems for those with lactose intolerance."

His answer was simple, clear and put across in an unassuming manner as he gave the other male an appreciative smile at the implied offer of breakfast. He would take anything really and even if Richard suddenly decided to be nasty and showed him the way out without feeding him after all this, he wouldn't hold anything against the man really. After all, he wasn't obligated to feed him after... whatever transpired between them the night before, which he couldn't help noticing that the other wasn't being entirely upfront with in his response as he asked how he would like his eggs.

"Oh. I'll um... have a sunny side up please." Still as polite as ever, Richard might notice that his choice of action had the exact desired effect if he per chance allowed his gaze to land on the blond, his face turning pale first before subsequently blossoming into a lovely shade of pink as he quickly averted his gaze and opted in a last ditch attempt on his part to recall the past evening's events on his own again.

Was he mad at him for not being able to recall anything at all? Boaz really had to wonder as he cleared his throat. "Um... just so you know, I'm prepared to take responsibility for my... actions even if I can't remember anything at this point." He was always a firm believer that one should never do anything intimate with another on the spur of the moment but if something of the unspoken nature had already occurred between them both, he would be damned if he gave Richard the impression that he wasn't planning on being serious about it since two wrongs did not exactly make a right in his books.

"Sunny side up, coming... right up, hah!" Richard didn't meant for it to come out so strange, but he was rather weird in the morning. Anything to keep him bright and chipper when he could have easily have slept in that morning. He retreated back into the kitchen without another word, chuckling softly to himself and trying not to look at the confused expression on poor Boaz face.

Oh yes, he was having a lot of fun with his little game, and he wanted to drag it out as long as possible. He cracked open two eggs and plopped it down on the pan, pretending not to immediately hear Boaz's apology. Not that he needed one, of course, as he had made the right decision in the end, but Richard wasn't going to tell him that. Not yet. Best to ease into this kind of news, given the interesting 'circumstance' of his awakening.

It was only when he was done with the eggs and was presenting the food to his house guest (and tossing another piece of bacon to his whimpering hound) that he addressed the matter at hand, and he wore a mock expression of confusion. "Your actions? You say that as though you are... ashamed... of what you've done. There's nothing to be ashamed about! I rather liked it!"

Perhaps he was going too far. Perhaps he'd make matters worse. He was more than prepared to talk his way out of it, but for now, he continued his game. He offered his house guest a glass of orange juice, "You can drink this, right? No milk in this."

With Richard's retreat into the kitchen to prepare the eggs the way he wanted them, Boaz heaved a sigh of relief at the respite that afforded him however brief it might be. Taking a breath to try to calm his own frayed nerves, he laid back on the couch again, one of his hands lifting to rub his temples with his thumb and middle finger to see if that would help jog his memory any.

One step at a time as he had always told his patients. There was Destiny City's first ever Hunger Games marathon that he still couldn't believe he had won along with two guys, the prize presentation ceremony that followed along with the picture taking and interview that seemed to go on forever though he supposed that that was kind of expected, given the amount of publicity that went into the entire event itself. After they had some time to rest up some while making themselves presentable, there was an invitation to dinner where...

He sat up almost immediately when Richard emerged from the kitchen again, a small smile curling his lips as he took the plate he was handed, only to have to set it on his lap when the older man's words made his face turn a deeper shade of red. "I... I'm not ashamed. Not at all really." Neither was he proud of something that he still had no recollection of entirely for that matter.

His memory of the dinner was gradually coming back to him in bits and pieces now. Something about a secret organization the public knew next to little about that needed them to lend their strength to its cause. "... were you there at the dinner..?" He took the glass of orange juice from the redhead, taking a small sip from it as he left his eggs and bacon untouched for the time being.

"Indeed I was," Richard said, taking a seat on the chair next to the couch and making himself comfortable. The way he sat down exposed his boxer shorts, hoping to relieve poor Boaz of any fear of him being completely naked under those robes, and it seemed that his house guest was beginning to remember key details from the night before. Which meant that his little game would have to come to an end. Richard lamented this truth in silence, giving a stretch and offering his dog a third piece of bacon. "If you'll recall, I was the dashing gentleman with a glass of wine glued in his hands- I also filled your glass once or twice."

Which was his way of saying that he himself might have been slightly intoxicated during the dinner, but who the hell would go to a dinner party or celebration and not get a tad bit tipsy? If someone had to be the designated drinker, then Richard would gladly take up that role, no questions asked. Not that he was THAT drunk- he was more of a heavy weight than people gave him credit for and given that his superior officers were present, he made sure not to go too overboard.

He wondered how much Boaz remembered from the ordeal, and he rested his chin in his palm, tilting his head and figuring it was finally time to be straightforward with his house guest and newest recruit. "You did remarkable in the Hunger Games marathon, so well that you caught their attention. Tell me, during the celebratory dinner, what exactly do you remember?"

Richard was truly curious- he remembered his awakening with vivid detail, despite the alcohol coursing through him. The willingness he displayed to General-King Zinkenite, the pain, and then the insane rush of power. It almost made him want to power up right then and there, but he refrained for now. He had to get Baldwin out of the room before that...

Boaz grew a little flustered when Richard sat on the chair next to the couch, the aversion of his gaze a split second too late before the redhead's boxer shorts came into plain view and then it felt as if time had stopped for him. Oh. Figures that the other man would at least have the decency to cover up in his own home, so it appeared that he had been getting all worked up and worried for nothing. Ahahaha.

He took another sip of his juice, a look of concentration on his face as he refocused his thoughts on the events of the previous evening at Richard's prompting. "... are you with them? The Negaverse?" He could remember the other winners at the dinner, having spent some time offering his own congratulatory words to them at one point or another but as for the others who came to propose a toast to him, maybe Richard was indeed there if he thought long and hard enough on it.

He figured that he had to be linked with the Negaverse if he was indeed there, hence he had no qualms at all in obliging him with his recount of the evening's events. "It was the closing event for the dinner. All six of us were invited onto the stage by... General-King Howlite who requested that we lend our strength to the Negaverse's purpose. Something about saving the planet from the forces of the White Moon."

Setting the glass on the coffee table, he wiped his hand on the side of his pant before continuing. "I was the closest to him so I was the first to give my consent to joining the cause. I thought it was some kind of magic show initially when his hand went in here..." He paused to place his palm on his breastbone, his fingers splayed over the exact spot where Howlite had reached into for his starseed as he absentmindedly rubbed over the spot and wondered at the back of his mind as to what exactly had happened back then.

"There was nothing but pain. So much of it but the General-King said that it was necessary so that we can be better equipped with power to defend ourselves against them. The world then became clearer than ever before... and my other name is Lieutenant Amethyst. What happened beyond that however..." With his recount of the previous evening's events completed, Boaz offered Richard a sheepish smile before plucking up the courage to directly address the issue which he was still very much mindful about. "I apologize in advance if this comes off as kind of rude but... did we or did we not engage in sexual activities last night?"

He finally managed to pop the question. Hallelujah~ xD

It seemed that his little game would simply have to come to an end, and as much as Richard wanted to draw out the ordeal for just a little while longer, he knew better than to lead Boaz on once he had finally gained the courage to ask the question. With a sigh, Richard shook his head and explained, "No. Nothing happened between us. Except that I carried you here, but I assure you, I didn't touch anything naughty."

And that was the truth, but Richard wasn't going to stress the point. After all, none of that matter. Nothing sensual happened between them last night, and the more important matter was brought up. That meant that the time for fun and games was over, and Richard Moreau grew serious. Without a word, he grabbed one last piece of bacon from his pocket and wriggled it in front of Baldwin's nose, and once he was certain that he had the Irish wolfhound's attention, he tossed it down the hallway and into the nearby bathroom. The moment the dog shot off, Richard managed to jump to his feet and closed the door behind the dog, separating himself and his house guest from his pet. Once the deed was done, he turned back to face Boaz, and without warning, he snapped his fingers and powered up.

"The snapping fingers part isn't necessary- I just enjoy doing it to give it more oomph," said Buddingtonite, and the moment his transformation was complete, he tipped his militaristic cap to his guest. "I am Lieutenant Buddingtonite of the Infiltration Branch, and I welcome you to the Negaverse, as well as my humble little home."

He bowed before straightening up, flashing Boaz a wry grin and pointed to him with his yellow and green pinwheel. "That pain you felt is something we all much deal with when joining the Negaverse- I'm not ashamed to admit that I screamed like a baby, and that's including the alcohol that was suppose to dull the pain AND Serpentine's grip to keep me still. You had neither and here you are. Good for you."

Oh thank the heavens that nothing of that sort really happened between them. Boaz breathed a sigh of relief, finally able to relax fully in Richard's presence as he moved to pick up the cutlery to start on his eggs. "I believe you. I appreciate your honesty in this so thank you." It might not seem like a big deal to most others but he would really hate to have his first time go down like that while he was entirely incapacitated.

He really didn't mind at all the fact that the older redhead was purposefully leading him along the entire time for the sake of his own amusement, chuckling softly to himself at their earlier exchange of words as he went on to make short work of everything on his plate then set it down on the coffee table the moment he was done. It really was his own fault anyway for beating around the bush when it came to this kind of things.

Now that that particular business was out of the way, he watched what Richard did with interest, the other man's intent unknown to him until he powered up before him and introduced himself. Alright. So did this mean that he should turn himself into Lieutenant Amethyst too? Couldn't say that he remembered the exact mechanics of how to bring that transformation about, but it seemed that focusing on and wanting it to happen did the trick when he felt a surge of power within him and his clothes were replaced by a mostly grey with red stripes uniform.

"Oh... so this's how this transforming thing is done." He muttered, more to himself than to the other Chaos agent in the room before getting up from the couch to address him proper. "I had a couple of glasses over the course of the entire evening. Not enough to tip me right over but I can't remember exactly at which point I passed out, so that doesn't make me any better I suppose." Probably shortly after his recruitment to the Negaverse's cause if he could recall his alternate alias with such clarity, he figured.

He returned the bow in kind, letting his eyes roll over the impeccable uniform that he now wore and then the red pinwheel that he now grasped in his right hand. Curious. "Pleased to make your acquaintance Lieutenant Buddingtonite. Please accept my apologies for imposing on you like this though I do have to thank you for the hospitality you've shown me thus far." Pausing for a bit, he gestured towards first his pinwheel then the other's yellow and green one. "Not that I'm complaining, but is this why we're partnered together or something? How does the Negaverse work really?"

If there was an orientation session held after his induction into the Negaverse, he had totally missed it. Bummer.

Buddingtonite wore a humored grin the entire time, and he completely understood Amethyst's relief and saw little need to ridicule it. As tempting as it may have been, even he knew when to keep it in. He was willing to do many things, but take advantage of an unconscious person? That was low, even for him, and besides, where's the fun when they weren't responsive? It was a two way act- if he was going to be the only one enjoying himself, then he might as well do it alone.

None of this he shared with Amethyst, as the moment he powered up, it was all business. Many who knew Richard, or even Buddingtonite, would have been surprised to see him so professional and devoted to something that was bigger than himself nor his candy shop, but the notion did exist. Despite joining to save his own neck, Buddingtonite felt that he was appropriately loyal to the Negaverse, and offering housing and brief orientation to the newcomers was simply his job. One he took some amount of pleasure in. It was certainly better than getting his butt handed to him by the enemy, that's for sure!

"There's no shame in passing out, Amethyst," Buddingtonite said, his tone surprisingly genuine. For a moment, he recalled his own awakening, and no amount of alcohol could spare him from the pain he felt. He was merely lucky that Serpentine held him so tightly. "Carrying you here in my powered up state was relatively easy- it was keeping Baldwin away until I powered down that was more of the problem. Apparently, this whole glamour thing confuses others and animals, so Baldwin doesn't seem to like this persona. A pity, really, because I think I look better this way."

The lieutenant brushed off his gratitude, taking a moment to straighten his coat when he noticed something was out of place. He had noticed their similar weapons as well, though he didn't want to be the one to point it out. Now that it was out in the open, Buddingtonite gave a playful shrug. "Perhaps Howlite saw the humor in the fact that we share similar weapons, but I assure you, that's not the case. As part of the Infiltration Branch, I volunteered to offer my home and services in helping new recruits on their feet, and when your name was called, I volunteered to take you. I think I chose the best of the bunch, really..."

The size of one of the recruits would have made even his powered self strain to hold him. Yes, Amethyst was just the right size, and thus far, Buddingtonite had no regrets in taking this one home. "The Negaverse works like the military, and there are three branches. I already told you that I'm part of the Infiltration Branch, and it's my duty to see to public affairs and recruiting new officers. The one you met, Howlite... is in charge of the Spec-Ops, and they're the heavy hitters and vanguards of the Negaverse. They're the ones that bring the pain to the enemy, should they insist on carrying out their queen's demands."

He gave a stretch, before adding, "Finally, there's General-King Zinkenite and his Intelligence Branch, and they're the ones in charge of learning more of our enemy and whatnot. Their name is pretty self explanatory, no?"

"Nor is there in screaming like a baby." Amethyst quipped, being more than well acquainted with how different people responded to pain as a result of his job at the hospital. Pain was an unpleasant experience altogether and given that he was in a position to inflict and relieve it on the patients under his care, he didn't see why people had to complicate it further by linking it unnecessarily to glory or shame based on one's reactions to it.

"Interesting. I'll have to keep that in mind so that I don't give poor Buttons a fright for nothing." He couldn't help but smile at the way with which Buddingtonite carried himself in this. Serious when needed to, yet lighthearted and amiable at the same time. It was really little wonder that the other Lieutenant belonged to the Infiltration branch of the Negaverse and very rightfully so.

"This... is supposed to be a weapon?" The confusion was written all over his face as he studied the pinwheel he held in his hand, turning it this way and that. Maybe if he really wanted to, he could poke someone's eye out with it. He had a feeling that that wasn't exactly it either though. Go figure. "I see." He nodded his head a few times, a wistful expression on his face as he allowed his mind some time to process the information that was given to him. "So I suppose that I too will be expected to go into one of these branches eventually. Am I allowed to choose or will this be an assigned thing? Just who are we fighting against out there really?"

"Dully noted, friend," Buddingtonite said, moving back towards his couch and taking a seat. If he was going to be assisting in breaking in the new lieutenant, than he might as well have been comfortable. He picked up his own plate and began to peck at his meal, as he motioned for Amethyst to do the same. While he was his mentor, he was only a lieutenant himself and therefore there was little need to be completely professional. Buddingtonite could be professional, when he wanted to, but for now, he figured he'd open up to the new recruit and play the role of big brother rather than that of the menacing teacher. There was no reason to fear Buddingtonite, so long as you were an ally. "Buttons, huh? Well, be forewarned. Others, not even your beloved pets with their keen senses, are able to see our true identity, but that doesn't mean you need to be transforming in the middle of the streets. If they see Boaz standing on top of the toilet one second, then Amethyst, then even a brain-dead turkey would be able to put two and two together."

Strange, considering he had just transformed in front of him, but truly, this was an exception. Besides, he already knew Boaz identity and he was merely evening out the playing fields and being fair. With that being said, he moved on to the next sort of business, and he explained as he nibbled at his food. "Yes, we all start with dinky little toys and we must earn the right to weild true weapons. Though, if you're crafty enough, I'm sure you'll find some uses for that, even if it's just a distraction. It's something... prove to them that you can use the most harmless of toys as a lethal weapon, and you'll be making your way up the ladder in no time."

The last topic he brought up was just as important as anything else he asked, and Buddingtonite answered in kind. "For the most part, you may select your branch. If someone feels that you would be better in another, they could suggest you be transferred, but as far as I know, I haven't seen anyone forced assigned to a single branch. I chose Infiltration willingly, and I'd recommend it. But the choice is yours. Just know that no matter what branch you're in, you still obey orders and must do your duty for the Negaverse, no matter what they may be. Do you understand?"

Sitting back down as well, Amethyst picked up his glass to take a sip from it, mulling over everything he had been told in his mind during the brief period of silence that hung in the air between Buddingtonite and himself. "My pet rabbit. Had her ever since I adopted her from the animal shelter when she was still a little baby. I figure that she'll probably be scared stiff by my alternate identity compared to your best friend Baldwin there."

He explained, smiling wide at the memory as he set the half emptied glass back down with a soft chuckle at the redhead's cheeky example of what he should avoid doing so as to prevent others from discovering their other identities as Negaverse agents. "I'll be sure to keep all of that in mind. Thank you for the warning." Giving Buddingtonite's words some careful thought, he nodded in agreement with the other's suggestion. "I might go with Infiltration in the end. Can't quite see myself in Spec-Ops given my total lack of experience in the matters that they deal with plus I"m not quite sure how good of an observer I can be with regards to collecting intel on our enemies."

He decided to drop the topic of weapons for the moment, suddenly realizing that he wasn't even aware of the role of the Negaverse in Destiny City and the lives of its inhabitant nor what it was they were supposed to be up against, hence the need to arm themselves in the first place. "So... are there other responsibilities that Lieutenants have to be mindful of other than what you've brought up by far? Why are we fighting... whoever it is we're fighting in the first place anyway?"
