You really should have closed your eyes. At first nothing, and then you feel cold. And then, like a strange pulse, you feel something, a whispering memory.

A sad memory. As it plays out, without names or faces, you arm first begins to slowly dissolve, unravel, and then suddenly explode, contort into thick strands of wispy grey. It hurts, but it doesn't hurt the arm, no it hurts your core. You feel every moment of yourself ripping into pieces. Simone followed the creature quickly as she could holding her core close to her heart. She might not have been too keen on leaving the others but at the same time she knew in her heart that leaving would keep them safer longer. They didn't need to worry about someone that might drag them down, no they needed to focus.

Her ears seemed so sensitive as she followed down the halls, listening to the creature talk she tilted her head,

"Beautiful? Times of King and Warriors?"

Weren't we warriors? She thought to herself. Losing herself to the thought she barely heard the comment about her existence. What was the creature speaking about. Looking at her surroundings she wondered if closing her eyes was really a good thing. Giving in she slowly closed her eyes.

Coldness, wave upon wave of coldness until it just stopped. Simone could feel the pull and then warmth surrounded her as she heard humming, a soft singing a familiar tune smiling she turned to see where it was coming from.

Frowning as a jumbled of images, memories flooded her mind. No, this...this can't be right. What was happening...

"Oh plea...."

She said not to be afraid, but Jessie was still shivering. Her being craved information, to know what was happening so she could make sense of everything. What was happening and why, who should she trust and who should she not? She had followed in hopes to find out.

Where Jessie was lead startled her. Before her stood a beautiful ornament, one which the figure said was part of their legacy. Her legacy? Did this item have something to do with her past? She gazed at it a moment more before she turned back towards the figure who began to talk about their victory. Over what? But then she was ordered to close her eyes, and Jessie did, her mind straining once more.

It was a odd feeling, but not unpleasant. As if she was a little chilled but not freezing. A sound filled her ears, and images floated through her mind. Emotions tugged at her heart as each memory gave her the knowledge she desperately wanted.

Or did it?

She felt both happiness and sadness, but something was wrong. She was struggling to make sense of the memories, still unable to recall the people she could see, or who they even were. Why couldn't she remember? She could see them in her mind!

...No...no wait, this wasn't...this wasn't her. She was-

The figure was talking again, but she couldn't understand her as her being distorted and shredded itself into it's original form of cold and grey and fog.

"Come now, don't be afraid. There is much we still have to do. Walk quickly now, lest your time is up before we are ready."

Phaedra moved quietly, speeding up at the voice's urgency. She could feel herself trembling a little. There was some great energy in the place that seemed so thick she could almost taste it. Something was different here, something familiar...but still the memories stayed firmly gone.

"There it is! As beautiful as promised, resplendent. You may not remember, but this was once part of our legacy as well, intertwined. Forgive me, I might be reminiscing, it was a great time indeed, a time of Kings and warriors."

A candelabra? Was that a the word or any word? It felt right, but it also felt very wrong. For a moment her senses felt odd almost as though she could smell something out and about. She sniffed the air, phantom aroma of rich foods made her salivate and then it was gone just as suddenly.

Kings and warriors...Had she been one of those? Had she been something else? She opened and closed her hands at her side, none of it made sense.

Nothing made sense anymore, maybe nothing ever had.

"Our plans are complete, this has been a victory thanks to you. Perhaps - has done me a favour after all, for without your presence, as you were, we would never have made it past the -"

- "Oh, I apologize, I see you are not yet aware of your existence quite yet. All right, this will be easier if you close your eyes. Good."

Victory? But she hadn't fought anymore? How could there be victory? She felt the uneasiness creep over her. "Made it past the what? Who are you? What do you want with me?" She kept her voice steady, absently twirling a ring on her finger.

But it didn't listen, it apologized and asked her to close her eyes.

"No," she said it firmly as her hand drifted to her gun. "I'm not following orders anymore without some answers. Tell me what's going on!" Her voice rose into a shout.

The rush of cold overwhelms her. Phaedra's whole body shakes as she tries to keep a firm grip on her gun. "What's happening?"

Her face contorts in a grimace, a phantom beat of her heart causing her pain. Everything rushes at her, and she is trapped in something like a memory.

The rain pours down as if someone was in the heavens was trying to douse a fire. The thick wet globs fell down, down, down...Phaedra felt wet to the core as she watched the black clothed people.

Weaving her way among them, she saw each of their faces like a blurry blank slate. They were nobody, no one or maybe it was anyone?

She couldn't be sure, she didn't know what to make of it. Her eyes floated from person to person, familiar and yet...not. But they all faced one direction.

She turned her head and became aware of a voice, soft and low. She couldn't make out the words. They seemed to be coming from the bottom of a well, only a few would catch on her ears.

"Ashes to ashes."

Suddenly, she was alone. Everyone was gone and left in front of her was a freshly covered grave. Kneeling, Phaedra tried to read the words on the tombstone.

Keljfheo ehljlajf

kejlrjee
akkjdlrjar 2001 jljlwjr3

But the words, made no sense. They were all jumbled as if someone had put them in a blender and then placed them there. But her being ached with pain. She had to have known this person.

Phaedra snapped out of the memory, gasping. Her breath was ragged and a pain shot through her arm. Her eyes turned to face it and her throat choked off with a scream. Her arm was dissolving as if in acid. The excruciating pain pulsing through her body as it faded away bit by bit then transformed into shadow.

"I'LL LISTEN! I"LL CLOSE MY EYES!" Her voice sobs out, but it's too late. There's no bargaining with it as it stand there watching. "PLEASE!"

Phaedra's voice chokes off in a scream again, but it wasn't her arm that hurt it was her very being, the very person of herself that she had forgotten.

She could feel the memories being pulled from her like the shredding of cheese, each layer grated off and falling into a pile.

Laughter, a warm fuzzy feeling and lips on lips. A hot, hungry pulse in the middle of her stomach aching for something, not food.

Tears, glasses shattering, a strike from something hard across her face.

A dull voice, "This is your home now." But it was never home...

Each new memory enveloping the next, each more painful than the last as her legs balloon in size and then explode into grey wisps.

Phaedra began to scream harder and harder as the memories crashed over her. Hot sun, scalding iron, empty stomach, shattered glass--She screamed, her throat dry and raw from the effort and yet she couldn't stop.

Memory after shattered memory throwing itself against her. Small snapshots of pain ricocheting and hitting her from every angle. Her voice faded, her screams dying to whimpers over time.

Her fingers open, the purple crystal slipping down...

Orina didn’t come. For that, Tamara was a little sad. But this, this was something she needed to brave out. She knew she was walking into a potentially dangerous situation but she wanted an explanation.
She gave her friends one long last wave of farewell. Hopefully she could find a way to stop this fighting soon. As she left she realized that they might die. She was… abandoning them essentially. But, she saw no reason to fight another’s fight when she couldn’t even remember if it was the truth. Her young teenage heart was swayed, besides she would see them again when this fight was done. It would be soon, and someone needed to figure out if the figure’s words were a lie or not.
She had just chosen the hard road.
---
Tamara followed the figure confused on what she was talking about. Kings and knights? Their legacy? What plans? What existence.

“No I…” she did not close her eyes. She didn’t want easier, she wanted an explanation. She wanted the reasons, to know what the plan was. Would it really disrupt this balance? Why did she fight? “My existence? What is it?”

She felt cold. No wait! She wasn’t ready she wanted works not what was happening?
“Stop, it hurts! I want…” no she would not close her eyes.

Her own existance starting to fade she could hear someone scream. Nonono they shouldn't be in pain! Turning quickly she rushed to the girl. Grabbing the girls hand she quietly said,

"It fades...it's okay the feeling fades..."

She was still clutching her gem ever so tightly worried about what would happen the minute she faded enough for that to fall and shatter.

She had managed to wipe away the tears on her cheeks as she followed the mysterious figure, though the back of her palm was still wet, her grief dulling every sensation. Kleio had no idea what exactly she was staring at; the item that seemed so important. Legacy? Kings and warriors? What was--

"My existence?" She choked out, hands clutching her lance tightly, as she squeezed her eyes shut. A lump formed in her throat as she listened to a strange tune, memories flooding through what was once a blank mind she had hoped to fill with her true memories, but what was even true anymore--

A gasp.

"A--ah!"

When faced with the opportunity to stop fighting, Asherya did not hesitate. Plus, she didn't like the little cat like thing, giving instructions but no true answers.

The shadowy figure did not feel threatening, but a little nostalgic. unfortunately she couldn't understand most of what it was saying.

She figured it was right to say she wasn't aware of her own existence since she was bereft of almost any memories prior to her awakening with the other girls.
So she obediently closed her eyes and felt memories without sense or reason edging around her mind. But somehow it felt as if it weren't her own, something was wrong.

The feeling left and the ghoul awakened.
Then the creature started talking but she could understand it less and less as it spoke.

Someone touched her hand, or what was left of it. “Don’t you see what’s happening?” She clung to the girl. Tears forming and turning to whisps as she unraveled.

A memory started a girl and a bunny happily playing in a yard. There was laughter, and giggles until something came along and blood, so much blood. “This is life, smaller things get eaten.” Words from a mother, was that her mother? Spoke to her as the girl cried over the loss of the bunny. She didn’t want this to just be life. She wanted her pet back. She wanted to hug that fluffy feeling and look into that cute face again.

Tamara shook her head and leaned into the girl watching as she and the other girls faded. Everything hurt, and her gem, her very core, started to unravel.

"I'm Tamara..." her name, was about all she had left. "Let's be friends ok?" she whispered to the other girl faded as she was. She had a deep longing to be with Orina and Ridely and the other girls she had met. They weren't here, but this girl with the pink light was. She was very cute. "You are adorable by the way." A little like Orina, and a little like the cute bunny from the memory.

She didn't know why she was following this new, strange creature at first. The only things Connie was sure of were that she was curious, and that the fuzzy bunny-cat hadn't brought her any closer to figuring out what her wish might have been. Maybe this new person would. Yes, that was the reason she had chosen this path.

She hadn't been frightened of the fighting, nor did she particularly want it to end. Once she had gotten started, Connie had learned she had a talent for swinging a weapon, even though she was small and weak. There was nothing to fight here, but the girl was wasn't sure things were any more clear because of it. She slid her weapon back into the slings hanging over her shoulders and removed her gem from her sash.

The shadowy woman was speaking of something, but Connie wasn't listening. As long as she had her pretty gem, everything was cool.

It was really cute, and she liked it, but the blade Konnie held didn't offer much fulfillment. Head hanging, the white and black weapon rested by her side until the two figures spoke to one another.

"You mean- We don't have to fight?" The opponent spoke back. Surely if this was a creature that could communicate, some other means of resolution could be met. "I-I want to believe in you! Please help me understand my wish again!" At the very least, her once-opponent brought up a good point: why couldn't she recall that wish? This had to mean they knew something she didn't.

Konnie would have to believe in them.

"All of my faith in- EEK! SORRY SORRY! Did I..."

The girl clutched the hilt of the weapon in both hands after scrambling to get up. She'd collided with something while unknowingly taking a few steps, trying to keep a good view of the form that spoke. Bowing profusely, Konnie's eyes blinked an absurd amount of times looking at who she'd bumped into. Another girl with fabulous attire and shiny golden hair to boot. It reminded her of someone's. The concept of a mirror was familiar despite her not remembering what exactly she looked like.

This girl gave her the feeling like she was looking into a mirror.

"Uh hi! I... I like you're dress! Do you like cute things too?"

Connie looked up from her gem as she felt someone stumble past. "Oh! Hello!" Whoa. She had caught a glimpse of herself in another girl's swinging sword a little while ago and yes, this new girl looked an awful lot like...

"A whale! she breathed. "You've got a whale blade! And such a nice dress. And..."

The girl turned to listen to their guide more intently, as if something she had said had drawn Connie's attention, but this invisible distraction only lasted a moment.

"Yeah! Of course I like cute things! There hasn't been a lot of that kind of stuff here, though. I like this though." She brushed a finger across her gem, ignoring the hairline crack that ran along its surface. "I guess I don't have to look at anything though. I could just... close my eyes." She stared at her near-twin instead, blinking once... twice...

"I'm Connie!" She held out her free hand.

Simone could feel the tears start to flow as she felt the girl cling to her. Wrapping her own arms around the girl she wasn't sure what to say or do there was so much pain coming from her. She wished she could just say close your eyes let it wash over you. It would be over soon. But the words wouldn't come, small gasps between tears was all she could manage.

Tamara...what a lovely name, she thought

"Th...thanks you are pretty very pretty...I'm Simone...I'm sorry I didn't get to know you better...I think you would have been a wonderful friend!"

“Simone, that’s a pretty name. And we are friends now. Thank you.” Tamara gave her he best smile tears still in her eyes as she became more and more wispy.

Another memory came, just a fragment:
“I brought you something.”

“Oh what is it?” the girl glanced from the door way and stared at the woman. It was cute, it was adorable and fluff. She raced over and picked it up. “Puppy!” her heart sang and she smiled up at the woman. “Thank you…”

Tamara’s hand squeezed Simone’s one last time before she was unable to do so anymore. Her soul gem dropped to the floor and shattered. So this was who or rather what she really was.

Gwyn looked around. She didn't see anyone she recognized. It was disappointing, but not at all surprising. Heck, if it wasn't for her curiosity, she'd've stayed back there and fought too.

- "Oh, I apologize, I see you are not yet aware of your existence quite yet. All right, this will be easier if you close your eyes. Good."

She closed her eyes like she was instructed. She felt cold, but not bad. It was actually refreshing, like a glass of cold water on a hot day.

Then, she heard someone humming a melody she didn't recognize, but that she thought sounded nice, anyway.

After that, a flood of memories came, but they didn't make sense. Not only didn't anyone have faces, but in each, her weapon changed. In one, she had a scythe and vines would grow out of control in her wake and ensnare her enemies. In another, she had a boomerang and something bad had happened. She wasn't sure what, but her chest felt tight and her legs hurt. Maybe her spell ran out or something. In yet another, she was a grown man -- which was definitely wrong. But she had the right weapon. She was celebrating her birthday with her family. It felt nice. There was a cake. It was her favorite flavor and everything. And her wife and kids seemed nice enough. While she didn't know everything about reapers -- only what it had told her -- she knew it didn't feel right.

- No, it isn't you. No, it was -

When Gwyn awakened, she saw something she couldn't comprehend. There were no words in her vocabulary that could describe what she was seeing right now. The closest she could possibly get would be that it looked kind of like what she had seen when she had been attacked before. Kind of.

"This is whå† ¥øu 宜."

"... ¥ø¨ ç嘆 ¨˜∂´®ß†å˜∂ µ´ ˜ø∑, çå˜ ¥ø¨?"

"...I'µ ßø®®¥... †˙´®´ß ˜ø†˙ˆ˜© ˆ çå˜ ∂ø.. ˆ¬ çøµ´ ∫åç˚ ƒø® ¥ø¨ ø˜´ ∂å¥..."

"..."

She had to strain her ears to hear her and even then, she could only pick up bits and pieces. She wasn't even sure if those were right either. This is what you are? You can't? Can you? I'm sorry? For? Day? Then her mind immediately seized one bit of information. "This is what I am." Having finally gotten the answer she was looking for, she disappeared.
