Growing up in minor nobility Claire was very dedicated to her studies. She stayed in the family library all day pretty much everyday. She even took her meals in the library as she was fascinated by magic, wanting to learn all she could about it. Her father, concerned for her well being at the time, forced her to take lessons in fencing once a day. She became proficient with her rapier over time, but always dove headfirst into her pile of books. Eventually her father and herself came to blows over this and she was kicked off the estates, thus beginning her journey.
