A soft groan of dismay echoed from the staircase as the hunter finally emerged at the top. Who's bright idea was it to build so many stairs and put that place so far down? Whoever it was; Al really wants to punch them in their big stupid nose right now. Still. He glanced over at the new treasure still clutched tightly in his fist. It was worth it.

While the new guy got himself kitted out, Rep had been left with time to think. What he had in his hands was what appeared to be a very malleable guy. He'd been willing to be led - or dragged - all the way here, and had been obedient enough about doing what he was told. He'd made the mistake before with Ro, letting him meet the wrong people, people who gave him good solid advice that countered the corkscrew twisted things that Rep could feed him.
He didn't intend to make the same mistake twice.
"So you got yourself a stick." he couldn't have sounded much less impressed if he tried. "I guess its something. Maybe with time it'll grow into something that doesn't suck a big one." It was excessively nasty, the staff itself was rather imposing even for a newly bonded weapon, but laying down low self confidence was important.
"If you work hard, your weapon will grow and change with time. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse."
bigger.> Tracey snapped.
Again he moved to sling that very demanding arm across Al's shoulders.
"What's say we go show you to where you'll be staying for as long as you manage to survive here?"

Al was proud of his weapon. He had thought Nuru was quite wicked... but Rep deflated those thoughts of pride. He lowered the staff a bit, clearly about to flaunt the thing at the older hunter before he had dug into him.
The thought invading his mind, forced the slightest bit of a smile to the surface even as Rep lead him on further.
"I get a room?"

Rep looked suitably satisfied by the way Al lowered the staff, and swept them along at his usual brisk pace.
"Aye! You get a room. Its just a wee one, till you earn a room upstairs. That's when you stop being a little trainee ******** and man up enough to be promoted to hunter."
He led the way into the dorms without so much as a glance at some of the puzzled looks he got, it wasn't often Rep was seen with his arm across anyone's shoulders - it smelled like plotting. "You like, take meals in the cafeteria with everyone else, the food's s**t, but that's cause other hunters make it on duty."
He remembered the way to Harrison's old room only vaguely, he hadn't been there an enormous number of times, he wasn't even sure if the wall had been repaired since the attack on the base. Thankfully, it had not been, and his grin turned toothy as he arrived.
Finally releasing Al from his steely grip, he gestured at the tarped off wall-less room. "There you go. Home sweet home."

Al listened intently to the details about where to get food as he was quite hungry already... but still, he had to find his new place and get his stuff he brought with him sorted and fast. He glanced at the doors as they passed. It was like a hotel setup? Or perhaps a dormitory? Either one was rather exciting. He couldn't wait to find his place... and then they stopped.
Al stared at the tarp then tilted his head to the side, they wrapped his room? Like a gift? He smiled giddily before tearing back the tarp - expecting a banner above a door with hunters waiting inside... nope. He was met with a hole. A hole where his door was meant to go. <********>

"There was an attack a while back, a lot of the dorms got pretty ******** up. All the good ones have people living in them, so you'll need to make do. You start at the bottom and work your way up here."
Rep barged past him without so much as asking, looking around the very empty room. He'd forgotten there wasn't even a bed, that they'd taken it off and fixed it into a megabed. "Looks like some b*****d's stole your bed man."
He looked thoughtful for a few moments. "Wait here. Settle in. I'll be right back. I'll help you out."
And with that he trotted off again.

Al wandered into the cavern in the wall that was his room. There was next to nothing to work with. It even reeked of mildew.
Really Nuru? REALLY?
Al just looked horrified as he tried to explore what was still there, hopeful something was salvageable in the meantime. At the very least a place to store his things... speaking of, where were his bags?

Rep wasn't gone long, when he was feeling enthusiastic, he could be fast on his feet, and was a nimble thinker when it came to making other people's lives as acutely miserable as he could manage. He retrieved Al's bags from the pristine room that had been prepared for the other hunter and then stopped off at his own room to retrieve a few tanned pelts from his collection. He generously even picked up a pillow or two and brought them along too.
Returning to the room - if you could call it that without a wall - he placed all the things down on the floor. He'd brought a few wolf furs along with one of his bear hides, not polar bear, those were special. And because he was lacking a mattress he even got a reindeer for his troubles.
"Got your s**t for you. And here's a bed sort of. It's no amazing but its better than what some trainees get."

Al was still wandering his room in a stupor, somewhat regretful that he traded a pod for this. He kind of wanted to go back to sleep for a few more years right now. Maybe then they could afford walls for their rooms?
Then Rep returned with something amazing in his possession, "My stuff!" He clambered over to harass Rep greedily for all the things he was holding.

Rep stood back with a very tolerant smirk to let Al sort out his possessions. He was watching like a hawk though for anything nice he could "confiscate due to regulations".

Al slid one of his bags covetously to the back of the room but then threw open the second and dug right in. It was full of a lot of clothes, nothing too fancy, but he still had to shake a bit of cobweb from each piece. It's clearly been a while. He was about elbow deep before he noticed a red scarf and white coat in Reps possession he didn't recognise just as much as the strange furs which were now to be his bed, "What's that?" He pointed.

As Al pointed out his coat, Rep practically puffed up with pride, a gesture which was only complimented with the rich ruff of polar bear fur around the hood of his own coat. "This is a division coat. I'm Sun division. We are the fighters in this shithole, combat, short lives, brutal as ********. Nakama right. Badasses. Unless you are Jerry. Jerry's a speccy guy with a big bazooka thing, watch out for him. Hell, watch out for everyone here, they'll try and lie to you and turn you against the good people. Its a den of sna....a den of slithery ******** things ok." He gave Al a conspirational wink. "I've got your back though." He hadn't checked out the coat yet and held it up to inspect it. "Well well. You are death division. Spies, recon, info."
He held out the coat. "The crossed scythes are your division's emblem. You see anyone else with them, they are your bros. Look out for life division, they have a tree. They'll want to ******** troll you like a trophy. And like. Look the ******** out for the leader of your division. Tall severe pretty ******** hot guy with glasses, black and white hair and a scythe. You say one wrong thing to him, one bit of disobedience, your stay here will be ******** short. Dig?"
An odd thought struck him and he grinned. "You'll need a scarf too man." He reached up to his arm and undid the scarf he kept tightly tied there, it was long but tattered and singed, with dark blood spots here and there that would never really wash out. He held it out. "This thing has survived all sorts of s**t. It's good luck! It might mean you make it the first couple months here. It's no dirty, it just looks that way, it gets washed a lot." He paused.
"Don't wash it with your underwear. Unless you like pink."

Sun, fighters, nakama, bazooka, snakes... Al was staring rather vacantly as Rep effectively unloaded a bit too much information all at once. But was he done? Nooope.
Al stared even longer as more information came; death, scythes, trees, trolls, hot gu---what?! Wait, maybe he was hallucinating. It was a lot to take in all at once after all. He was about to ask when Rep was already off into the land of scarves and was now offering Al his new uniform. Al looked at it and then at Rep, first taking the coat and inspecting the mentioned scythes before slipping it on and then looking at the scarf. "Do we wear these a specific way or is it okay if I just?...."

"Wear it however you like." he said, with just a touch of relief that Al hadn't baulked at the offer. "When we go to the desert and s**t you can wear it on your head, any other time you can wear it however you want. My fiancée wears it like a sash thing, other people wear them around their neck, wherever."
He gave him an encouraging smile. "That coat will become your pride and joy man. Mine is. Take care of it."

Al immediately wrapped it around his head and neck, desert or no, that sounded ******** awesome.
He's helping, Nuru, relax. Human stuff, you wouldn't understand.
"Really?" He asked about the jacket as Nuru quietly wilted. "Are they protective too? Like armour?"
