Rosetta scurried around the cottage looking for her wand. She thought she had looked everywhere, but when it was nowhere to be found, she decided to look again. She peeked under her bed, which yielded nothing except for a sneezing fit. She reminded herself to dust under there later. She moved over to the bookshelves, running her fingers over the old worn spines of the thick heavy tomes and studies that her father had conducted exclusively on dragons and their smaller brethren Drakeins. Nothing but books and papers, she sighed. She ran her eyes over the little kitchen, picking up and cleaning the dishes and glass from her early lunch.
A whisper of worry gripped her stomach, but she soothed it away with a smile, reassuring herself that it was in the cottage, and it would show up when she would least expect it. Her bare feet made dull thumping noises as she glided over to her bed. She pulled apart each layer of sheets to search for her wand, and when it didn’t show, she carefully made her bed. She sighed and resolved that her attempt to hunt another dragon that day would have to be one without her wand. She moved over to the front door and bent down to put on her boots when she realized that one boot was heavier than the other. Puzzled, Rosetta tipped her boot upside-down and her wand fell out! An embarrassed blush spread across Rosetta’s face, cursing her forgetfulness. She slipped on her boots and headed outside into the thicker part of the woods.
It wasn’t long before she ran into a forest green Ysali dragon. It turned its head her way and bared its teeth, sending a group of leaves strait towards her face. Rosetta squeaked and ducked, but two of the leaves managed to cut her cheek and throat. Rosetta ignored the stinging and lifted her wand at the beast, sending a small blast of light to blind the dragon a little. She missed, however, and two more green dragons joined the first, sending a pile of leaves her way. Panicked, she threw a slightly bigger ball of light at them, which gave her just enough time to escape. Rosetta took to the sky and winged back to her cottage to treat the scratches she had acquired from that day’s attempt at slaying a dragon.
