Meet the Prophet

Name: Quentin Alighieri
Age: Undecided
Gender: Male
Bio: Quentin is from another world (where the story takes place), similar to our own. He began to have visions at a young age. He feared them and kept them secret. Doing so caused him to become ill of mind and he soon broke down and confided in his uncle, the only family he had left. His uncle feared the visions were the work of the devil and sent him to the monastery to be raised (along with other troubled boys) by the monks.

The monks tried to stamp out the evil through prayer, baptism in holy water, strict teachings, and so on. Quentin worked hard to rid himself of what he saw, but the more he fought it, the more frequent his visions occurred. He tried to hide his visions, but once again fell ill under the strain. He began to keep a secret journal of them, along with drawings, to help relieve some of the strain and make sense of what they meant.

After many years, the monks found his journal when another youth saw him hiding it before bed. The monks confiscated the journal and turned it over to the head priest. Quentin was flogged in the name of the Lord and drenched in holy water before being chained in a dark room in the tower to seek penance in solitude. The priest read through every page of the journal and, recognizing signs from secret and sacred texts, soon realized that the visions were divine. From that day forward, Quentin was educated in important holy matters and clandestine divine texts. He received the highest education.

On his 18th birthday, Quentin was freed from his bonds and sent into the world as a prophet. He lived as a nomad, roaming the land and helping those who asked for guidance and healing.

On a bleak and cloudy day two years later, Quentin received his most vivid and most specific vision yet; a great evil was coming to the land. He tried to warn the people of the land, but no one would listen.

For 40 days and 40 nights, the world was ravaged by fire and drought and all manner of beasts - Valkyrie, harpies, great serpents and snake people, dragons...

The people learned to heed his word and sought him out. When at last they found where he had taken refuge, they found him crazed and blind - his eyes gouged out by a blunt knife in a vain attempt to drive the horror of his visions from his sight.

Here, our story begins.
