Requiem Uchiha had never meant to follow in her fathers footsteps. It had only been natural. She had tried for a time, as a kit, to fight the need to become a ninja. She never really like her father, Sasuke Uchiha, and never wanted to be anything remotely close to how he was. It seemed that despite her efforts she was far closer to her fathers personality than her mothers, and sometimes it terrified her.
She was just as cold during business as he was, though perhaps easier to get close to. She was strong and fast, though slim and small. She was excellent at her ninja abilities, having been a natural talent honed over time by dedication. However, she refused to become the man he was, not because of any horrible thing he had done but more because of his lack of presence in her and her mothers lives. Not only that, but he was a cold man in her eyes, and she was unable to realize that she herself could be cold at times.
However, she wished to help people. This was why she lived within a village and offered her services, sometimes even for free, though this was rare. Hey, she had to make a living too. Her employer would tell her when it was her turn, and what her job was. Today he had spoken of someone needing her abilities as a bodyguard. Ah. Simple enough. She may not be the warmest company but she was surely capable of the job. She was waiting now, either to be told to go to a certain location to meet up with the one who needed her or for them to arrive themselves.
She usually spent this time curiously wondering what the other would look like. Last time it had been a balding man with crow wings and strange horns surrounding his arms. He had been a nervous man with the tendency to jump whenever she so much as murmured a word. The one before him had been a beautiful woman with hair of gold and eyes of copper. She had a horrid temper and kept accusing Requiem of thieving, though the ninja both had no use for such a thing and would never do so. Perhaps the new one would be beautiful as well? Or balding and old? Perhaps a child?
Hm. She needed to rest while she waited, or sharpen her blades. Deciding to be productive, as always, the ninja rose and began to sharpen her weapons as she waited, her strange eyes flickering in thought.

The trip had been in discussion for months, a constant source of argument between her and her servants. She wouldn't be safe here, she hadn't been out of her home before, she would get sick....To be truthful, she was sick of it. Being shut in like some precious little gem, like a bird in a cage, was not a life she desired to live constantly. Not only had they finally given in, but one of her closest attendants had hired her a bodyguard, someone that they thought capable enough to guard her, to make sure she wouldn't be robbed, or stolen away from the world. Ironic, she thought, because she was already a prisoner in her own home. But the opportunity to leave the residence was enough to make her not complain, and she was quick to make the preparations. Clothing was an issue, and as much as it would make her servants cry, she knew there was no other items she could wear. Certainly the silk would snag on something eventually, though the thought of it was slightly thrilling to her. For once, perhaps she could shrug off a heavy layer or two, and not be ridiculed by her ladies in waiting. She was accompanied out for the first time quietly, trying to draw no attention from the other locals in the area. It wasn't easy, as whispers began to circulate, and the princess was more curious than they would have liked. Soon enough though, she was taken to the area to meet her new entourage. There were murmured goodbyes as she was left, whispers of prayers for safe travel on the air. Her eyes were first drawn to the weapons, curious of their uses and what they had seen thus far, then to the female who would be guarding her. Xi-Feng was surprised to see that a woman would be taking care of her, though didn't think any less of her. She was free to do as she wished, not being shut up in an estate by invisible binds of unspoken rules and customs. She walked over slowly, keeping a safe distance just in case, her silks dragging behind her softly. With a slight bow of the head, she spoke at last. "It is an honor for us to meet you...Will you be taking this sparrow on her first flight?" Her voice was delicate, almost unsure.

Requiem rose the second she heard footsteps, her strange eyes focusing on the figure who had approached. Her muscles stiffened slightly, in case it was an intruder, then relaxed gently as the view of the woman met her eyes. Requiem did not relax completely, though she never really did. She knew who this woman was, it was apparently merely by how the woman spoke. Swiftly she approached, nodding solemnly in response. s**t. Words should be exchanged, this woman was not one of Requiem's partners.
"I am the one chosen as your guard for your journey. Requiem was not one to give her name without asking, not because of her cool attitude but more because she was awkward in that way. Her eyes focused on the woman, now realizing she was beautiful which would mean she should keep a closer eye on the woman in case of further dangers related to her beauty.
"Do you have everything you require?" Requiem questioned, voice firm yet quiet. Moving elegantly towards the corner of the room she grabbed a somewhat large cloth brown bag full of weapons, food, and a minor amount of money. Swinging it onto her shoulders she focused of the silk clad beauty, hoping she did not expect a horse or carriage. This would be a hard travel until they either acquired another means of travel or arrived to their destination.

Xi-Feng's expression softened more at being replied to, looking her new guard over. She was strong, very strong, and was certainly not to be underestimated. Confidence grew in her heart a little, though the trip still had her fearful. If anything drastic were to happen....What would she do? The thought, however, was quick to be whisked away with the thought of provisions. She did have money, and a few days worth of food herself....But would it be enough? It was a long journey... "If the winds are kind, then yes. However an ominous day seems to loom close...Though if there are nests to stop by, there should be enough." She lightened up on her way of speaking a little more than she normally would, not wanting to confuse her guard, or possibly cause any dissonance between them. She carefully prodded her small bag at her side with one wing, nodding as she looked up, looking at Requiem shyly. She was more than aware there would be walking. She was ready for such freedom. It was more than she usually had, after all. "As soon as you wish to depart, I too am ready."However, carefully, she took a strap and tied back several of the sleeves, and the train, so that she could travel better without as many things dragging beside or behind her. Halfway through doing so, she gave a nervous glance to the way her servants had left, before stripping 4 layers off, keeping her most luxurious on, and folded them, setting them aside. "I do not care much what happens to those. They will not be suited to the season soon enough."

The ninja simply nodded and turned to flip through her bag, strange eyes flicking rapidly as she shifted around the contents. They flicked up when she heard the woman begin to strip layers off, approvingly nodding. Good. The woman was somewhat clever, currently. This helped ease the ninjas worries. If the woman was not too proud to remove a few layers and lift her trim than perhaps she wouldn't be too hard to work with. Still, that long hair...
"I advise you to tie your hair as high as possible, for precautions." The woman spoke, approaching the winged-woman's clothes and lifting them gently, gracefully exiting the room for a few minutes and returning empty handed. "This room is used for training. I had your clothes safely set aside within my room for the time being. You can rest assured they will be intact and given back to your family."
Her eyes viewed those bright, colorful wings, curiously taking in their colors. Wings. They were lovely, even the awkward ninja had to admit. Quickly, Requiem grabbed a heavy grey cloak and slipped it into her bag, finally throwing it over her shoulder.
"Shall we begin?"

At the mention of her hair, the princess eyed one of the knives, thinking better to cut it than anything else...But she was sure it wouldn't go over well at her meeting, or later when she had to return to her cage of a palace. Taking one of the many undone straps, she was quick to follow the advice, though wasn't very adept at making the new bun very pretty. Though, she supposed, beauty didn't matter on a trip such as this one. Safety before anything... "Will this work?" She asked, having to tuck in one of the fallen strands again when Requiem returned. It was obviously a first for her, as it soon fell apart. Furrowing her brow a little more, she redid it, doing a much better job this time. "Thank you...For storing them for me." The princess bowed her head a little more, smiling the slightest. As nervous as she might be about being out of the palace for the first time, Xi-Feng knew she wasn't free. She was still on a direct path, and was being guarded, protected. She could try to escape, like she had in her younger days, but it would only end badly. It always ended badly. "Yes...." Her voice was still soft, though the nervousness from earlier had faded. "Thank you...for accepting this mission." There was another tiny bow, and she waited to follow Requiem out into the world that she'd never seen before.

Requiem caught the woman eying the knives when she returned, quickly scooping them up and slipping them within her clothes. Perhaps cutting the hair would be easiest, but long hair could also hide the woman's face, and this would be useful if they had no other means of disguise.
"For now." She quietly and simply responded with. The bow caused her to blink before, swiftly and gracefully, she bowed in return. She rose just as swiftly, approaching Xi-Feng. Her hand extended, clasping a small, closed knife. The woman held the knife out, awkwardly looking away. It was obvious she was not used to direct contact, and while she wasn't rude in the least it seemed she was unsure how to appropriately communicate when it wasn't work related.
"I want you to have a knife on you, just in case." The other thanked her and the ninja tilted her head at the small bow. A quiet smile flickered across her features, though awkward, and she turned towards the door. It was time to begin.
With a quiet glance towards her masters room, the woman stepped out of the room and headed silently towards the path to leave the small village.

For now. It wasn't that she'd mind terribly if they did go missing. They'd be discarded in another season or so anyway, and the less layers, the more free she felt. While tempted to shed a few more, her guard seemed to be pleased with her current number, and it would do....But if something were to happen, perhaps she'd just have to part with one or two more. Too bad, so sad. It would be a horror if she was light enough to actually stretch her wings for once. At the offer for the knife, she took it gently in both hands, looking it over. It was surely beautiful, especially against the silk of her kimono, and she knew exactly where it should go. After a nod, she tucked it in to her obi, where it was sure to not cut her if it shifted. At least, not easily. "We believe it's a good idea as well. You're most thoughtful for this sparrow's safety." A small smile was on her own face in return to Requiem's, though only grew in delight as the ninja smiled a little more. It suited her, she thought, and now the princess was sure she wanted to make this trip as easy as possible for her protector....Though... The first steps outside, without being escorted by a number of maids, being sheltered with more silk, unable to look at the world, she felt free. It wasn't true freedom, though, and she was quick to catch up with Requiem, a small smile and sparkling eyes of delight being her only outward excitement. Her gaze darted around frequently, though was more out of curiosity than fear, and perhaps a hint of delight. Though she doubted she'd be able to convince her guide to let her run through the forest, or do other silly things that children might do...After all, she was supposed to be a prim princess. Well... Mostly for this trip.
