XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXThe first Meeting

Chalice gave a soft sigh as he moved through the forest at a rather slow pace. He was lonely and wasn't doing well without having anyone around. He hadn't had contact with someone other than his machines in so long he had almost forgotten how to use his voice. He was sad and it was clear as an air of depression seemed to hang around him.

Relox had a distinct bounce in his step today, going back to his true rabbit's nature, as this was the day he would be set loose to roam the fields and forests, fields and forests that were sure to be littered with life. Life, which he would be sure to take for himself. He hobbled through the dense woods, splattering the leaves and rocks with blood as he went, and searched for a fresh piece of meat, something, anything to hunt. It was, indeed, the dawning of his first hunt, and if he returned empty handed he was sure Rikkuma would have something to say about it. Relox wrinkled his twitching nose at the thought and lifted his flopped ear to listen to the sounds of the forest more carefully, searching for anything that may have sounded off.

At first, there was nothing, and Relox gave a soft growl deep in his throat. He did not have the patience of his mother or father, at least not in this instance. However, a moment later came a distant crunch, and a heartbeat later another followed. Relox moved from his spot swiftly, despite the ruckus he should have made considering his lack of eye and leg, and slid in behind a tree as the crunch got louder. A gentle, otherwise innocent breeze was all it took, and Relox was honed in on what would soon be his lunch. The scent alone sent his nose a twitching and it took all he had to wait until the last possible moment to attack, but he managed it, and as his lunch came into view, Relox lunged. He had, however, over compensated a bit and took a small stumble, but was close enough to back his prey against a tree to ensure a swift and easy kill.

Chalice didn't stand a chance, he naturally wasn't a fighter and above that he tended towards the shy and timid spectrum. He wasn't a hunter, and knew little of the woods and what lurked in it. So when this strange little rabbit creature came lunging out of the woods at him he did the only natural thing he could think of and scream backing up against the nearest tree in terror. His glasses sliding down his nose as his ears fell back against his skull. The sight of the creature was so shocking that he was having a hard time catching his breath and was actually simply closer to sobbing than thinking of a viable escape route. He wound up sliding to the ground his knees against him with tears welling up in his eyes to fall down his cheeks. "Please don't hurt me." He begged his voice soft.

Relox beamed. His first hunt was going smoothly, and quickly at that. His mouth twisted into a grin, a bloody canine poking out, he advanced slowly, with sure, powerful movements that had been ingrained into him by his mother from the very day he became a kit, but then, the begging started. Relox took pause, glancing down between strands of hair that were as pearly and flawless as his brother's coat, and gently lifted a brow. This, of all things, he had not been prepared for.

He circled his prey slowly, though his intent was no longer violent. He was simply curious. Curious as to what this thing, or rather man, he realized after taking more than a second to look at him, was crying about. "H-hey" he stuttered, not out of nerves, but for a lack of knowing what say. "Why are you crying?" He asked, head tilting to this side, causing his ears to flop. Relox was not equipped to deal with this. Truth be told, this was the first time he had bared witness to someone crying. That wasnt to say he had not heard about it, or known what it was. In fact, he had listened to an entire explanation about it, but hearing about something was never the same as experiencing it first hand. It was enough to still him, despite the gnawing, constant hunger of his belly. It should have occurred to him that this man was in fact crying because he did not want to lose his life, but apparently that logical portion of his mind had taken some pause as well.

Chalice lifted his head and watched the blurry creature as it moved around him. The tears and the fact his glasses had fallen off was making it hard to make out the complete form of the animal. Which in this case was probably a good thing considering if he was able to see it he probably would have just freaked out a bit more. "Please." He begged softly looking at the animal, and when he was asked the question he gave pause. "I..." He stilled his tongue wondering if maybe this was a trick. "I don't want to die... and I don't want to be hurt... is that so hard to understand?" He asked softly hugging his knees to his chest. "Do you like being hurt? Or want to die?" He asked his voice hardly above a whisper.

Relox blinked, his right eye following the man's thin arms as he wrapped them around his knees, tucking them against his chest. Relox's ear perked at the whisper, and he took that moment to sit, tail twitching with confusion. "I cant die." He said simply, sniffing at the other as he took a wobbly step closer. There was a hint of something familiar among all the delicious, enticing scents of blood and organs, but he couldnt quite make it out. "I'm already dead." He paused for a moment, and wondered at something that he hadnt ever questioned before. "Does it hurt to die?" He asked, voice distant and curious as if he were pondering something of great significance and not speaking to his meal at all.

Chalice was a little shocked that his attacker was now sitting and talking to him instead of lunging to eat him. It was all very confusing considering what he had expected, which was to be torn apart despite his pleas. "You are already dead?" He asked curiously as he looked at the other male. "Yes, it hurts to die. Or it can, the way you plan on killing me will hurt me. Greatly actually." He stated his ears flicking forward.

Relox was so taken offguard by the information that he took a moment to sit, his tail twitching behind him and gently brushing the leaves of a bush, and he peeked out from behind his hair at the man that sat quivering in front of him. The man had a certain glint in his eye, the same glint he had seen in so many just before his mother or father took their life, and he could recognize that look as fear, but he had always thought that they feared death because it meant taking them out of the world, nulling their existence. It hadn’t once occurred to him that it might hurt. “I-” he paused, his brows furrowed as he gazed into the man’s eyes, which had become a glittering blue from the shine of his tears. “I am sorry.” He whispered the words, ears drooping and flopping a bit as his tail ceased its twitching. There was a great sorrow hanging around Relox, and he wasn’t sure it would ever be lifted. He could never think of his parents in a bad light, not ever. He knew their first priority was to take care of himself and Rikkuma, no matter the cost, and he held no ill feelings towards them over it, he may have even seen them as stronger for it. But the thought of hurting someone greatly just so he could eat, wasn’t sitting well with him. Finally, he lowered his head and answered the other’s question. “Yes, I am dead. I was born dead, or undead I think is how it’s supposed to be worded.”

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXQuestions Questions Questions

Chalice: ... *Takes a few steps back.* Hi *Soft voice*

Relox: *lifts an ear and gives an equally soft smile, his tooth poking out just barely among the blood* Hi. *takes a tentative step forward, his nose twitching insistently* Are you scared?

Chalice: *Fixes his hat and messes with his coat tails in a nervous sort of way.* N-n- yes, slightly. I'm still not sure... about you. I don't want to be judging but... I'm worried you are going to get hungry... and hurt me.

Relox: *lifts both ears now before lowering them back, his left eye quick to watch the fidgeting, but the smile falters as he casts his gaze aside* Why would I eat you? That would hurt you and I dont wish to hurt you. I...I have a hard enough time as it is now. My...mother does most of the hunting for me. *gives a quick glance back at Chalice before looking away shamefully* I'm not going to eat you, and i'm always hungry so that isnt really anything new. *sits and lets his bone tail twitch a bit* I...what's your name again? I'm not sure I ever asked. Something fancy I think.

Chalice's ears instantly dropped back against his head, as he looked down long lashes brushing his cheeks which were slowly turning a dusty pink color from his flush. He had forgotten his manners, due to his fear, his mother would be horrified. "I'm sorry, forgive me, I do not mean to upset you. I let my fear get the better of me and that was wrong. I know you do not wish to hurt me." He gently held out his hand fingers trembling slightly. "My name is Chalice, Chalice Aristo Vei'Whisper. I'm not sure we exchanged names during our last meeting no. May I inquire as to what yours is?" His voice was soft, a whisper but it did not tremble this time.

His ears still twitched atop his head and his tail puffed out behind him, but he now stood on a mere two legs instead of four. Glancing down as he stood taller than the other, Relox took the that had been held out to him and brought it to his gaze, inspecting it. "It's alright" he muttered, bloody lips brushing against the hand as he spoke. His short, pristine hair fell in mild disarray around his head, falling over the hollowed eye socket, and it jostled a bit as he leaned down to kiss the top of the knuckles. He had seen his uncle Tempest do it a million and one times for Data, and it had always left him wondering how it felt. He did not miss his chance in that moment, though he had no idea if there was even meaning behind the gesture. "I dont think we did. Relox. And I was right, your name is fancy." He gave a soft smile and lifted his eye once more from the hand to meet Chalice's. "Maybe I just assumed it was, since that is how you look, like you're going to some fancy meeting or a ceremony." He gave a short pause. "Are you going to a fancy meeting or ceremony?"

Chalice's cheeks flushed even more at the kiss to his knuckles and on instinct he lowered his gaze once more. Though he was deeply interested in the way the male looked. He was such an interesting character and it wasn't something Chalice had ever seen before. He vaguely wondered if he could build something to help keep the other in one piece. He shook his head before giving a polite laugh. "Ah no, I wasn't. I always dress like this, it's just... who I am? I am... was... a noble." He whispered softly looking away for a moment before looking back. "It's a pleasure to meet you Relox." He said his voice gaining just an ounce in volume before he took a step forward. "Would you like me to perhaps make you something to eat?"

Relox watched with interest as Chalice's cheeks flushed a deep pink and he wondered at the reason for it. It was also something he had seen with Tempest and Data, but again, did not know the meaning behind it. He was observant, of course, enjoyed studying behavior but that did not mean he was familiar with the emotions that spurred the action. "A noble?" the question was laced with interest. He had never met a noble before, but knew they were of some great importance. "What do you rule? Are you part of a family known for its nobility?" His tail twitched a bit behind him and his ear perked a bit. "I'm sorry our first meeting was so horrible for you" he stated with a gentle smile, his deadened body losing most of its scare factor with the action. His stomach rolled pleasantly at the word food, and while he was so very inclined to accept, he was still a bit unsure. "I'd love that, but-" he gave a hesitant pause, ear dropping back once again. "What would you make me? You know what I eat. I dont want you to cook someone for me."

Chalice gave a small nod at his question, not really knowing what to say. He floundered for a moment, while he was a noble his family had fallen on hard times. So to speak, as it was just him and he stayed locked in his house with his inventions. "We didn't rule anything per - say more like we were known for our work for the crown? I suppose? It's really hard to explain." He stated waving his hand lightly before he pushed his glasses up his nose once more. "It's ok, I completely understand, you were hungry." He said softly before glancing off to the side pulling his ear down to fiddle with it in his nervousness. "I do, but I was hoping you might be willing to try something else? I have lots of dishes I could cook, and I was hoping you would be willing to try one of those?"

Ears perked once more with interest, Relox's functioning eye lit up as Chalice answered. "I have time." He said, wondering when he would ever have the chance to meet and speak with a noble again. He wasn't about to pass up the opportunity, especially when it was staring him blankly in the face. Relox cocked his head as Chalice adjusted the glasses on his nose and leaned down to inspect them, his sense of personal space and boundaries seriously lacking. "Why do you wear glasses?" He asked curiously, suddenly full of more questions than he had ever found himself to be. He pulled back a bit and grinned widely, laughing as he tossed a piece of stray hair out of his face. "I'm always hungry." he said with a light giggle. "And I would love to try something new. And since my hunger is never, never sated, maybe I could find something different to eat that wouldn't hurt anyone."

"Well..." He trailed off for a moment hand coming up to rub against his arm. He blinked rapidly at the sudden invasion of his personal space, leaning back slightly his ears falling back against his head. "Uh..." He stuttered slightly his cheeks fast becoming pink once more. He was back to tugging on his ear in moments averting his eyes to the side so as to give the illusion of space. Then just like that Relox was back, bouncing with questions and excitement. "That, seems like a wise idea." He commented softly. "I will answer all your questions back at the manor alright?" He said softly turning to make his way back towards his house; it could be seen from where they were standing. The steam rising from the stacks on top of the house giving off the illusion that many lived there. "Come on." He motioned the other forward. "I wear glasses so that I might be able to see better than I do without them. They help correct a slight miscalculation in my vision."

Relox nodded at the idea, intrigued by it. The opportunity to sit and talk with Chalice about his nobility and get to inspect his manor? His day was shaping up to be something of a good one it seemed. Following behind the small blonde rabbit, Relox hobbled along, snatching up a long, sturdy branch to use as walking stick, something to help balance him out. "You have bad vision then?" he asked softly, his voice carrying on the wind. With it came the scent of flesh and blood, sending his stomach to rumble rudely. He gave a soft growl and sighed, before picking up the pace and walking along beside Chalice. "And that was another question. I'm bad at this not asking thing, sorry." He said, ears flopping and lowering a bit more than normal. His mother had taught him better manners than that.

Chalice gave a soft smile as he looked back at the other, curls bouncing as he walked. "It's alright, it's good to be inquisitive." He replied softly, reaching out to touch one of Relox's soft ears as they walked. He had found them interesting the first day they had met and still found them to be interesting to this day. Not that they were very different from his own really, it was just something about them that intrigued him. At the same time he was trying to offer some comfort, let the other know that he needn't feel guilty about asking so many questions. "You could say that I have bad vision yes." He commented softly dropping his hand back down to his side. "It's not bad, just not the best, slightly below average?" He asked softly tilting his head to the side. "Regardless, here we are." He stated pushing open the door to allow Relox entrance. "Welcome, to my home." He whispered softly, his voice light and polite. The outside of the home was grand yes, in it's own way, but the inside was truly something to talk about. Everything was wrapped in in deep maroons and golds, dabbed with blues and purples. It was lavishly furnished and there were many odd trinkets that could catch ones eye. It was clearly a home meant for more than just one but if you looked closely it was clear only one lived here. Still the grandeur of the home was elegant, almost soft, not overly in your face about it. "The kitchen is this way." He commented softly as he closed the door, walking in a slow manner towards the kitchen, giving Relox enough time to inspect as they passed through the hallways. Upon entering the kitchen he motioned Relox over to a chair that sat at an island, the counter was filled with fresh fruits and vegetables, with a special plethora of carrots. "Help yourself to anything you like up there, I will start cooking. Please, feel free to ask all the questions you like. I will happily answer them."
