The Diversity of the World
There are many races to be found within our world. They are as follows:
Humans

The Humans are the most technologically advanced. They own the most resources in the world and have the worlds largest military. The common man is not allowed to use elements without a permit, which is often only obtainable by being a soldier (or any position) in the military. The rich can also afford to buy a permit which is a status of wealth in Human communities. Anyone caught using an element in the Human cities without a permit is sent away to the prison camps.
Humans once worshiped the Xenema as gods. Then the Humans wanted the power of their gods, so they started the Great War. The Elves allied with the Humans and together they won the war. The Humans expanded their territories and took over many lands, dominating much of the world. Because they possess the most land, wealth and resources, many Humans do not care to become allies with the various races of the world, aside from the Elves. They fear the Demons of Terusia, afraid that one day the Demons will take revenge for the past.
After the Humans had won the Great War, they took many of the Demon territories and forced the Demons to live in Terusia, a harsh land to survive in.
Elves

The Elves are the second biggest population in the world. The Elven Empire is in a peace treaty with the Human's great kingdom. They have a lot of the worlds wealth, dealing in trades with multiple races and craft the finest wares. Much of the old ways have been cast aside, their culture becoming more and more like the Human's culture.
Some Elves have split off into smaller villages and tribes, sticking to the old ways of their lifestyle. The Elven tribes follow customs such as women wearing their hair up at all times, unless they are married. A woman who is unmarried and with their hair down is implied to be a whore. When a female elf takes their hair down, they are suggesting they are ready to mate.
Other noteworthy customs is their most sacred. 'The Binding'. It's the old marriage custom where the couple create an emotion bond. The emotions are shared between partners, and a dance ritual is performed in shallow water.
As long as the Elves have wealth, they don't care to meddle into the affairs of the Human's politics, no matter how corrupt the Human's Kingdom becomes.
Elves live to 120 on average. They age like humans until they reach adulthood.
The Outcast

The Outcast are cousins of the Elves and were once considered part of the Elven community before the Great War. While the Elves sided with Humans in favor of obtaining the power of the elements, the Outcast sided with the Xenema and wished to protect their great gods. They were cast out from the Elven community.
Many resided in Terusia, which became their official territory during the Great War. Once the war was over and they lost, the Demons were forced to live amongst the Outcast. The Outcast and Demons fought each other for their snowy wasteland.
Very few Outcast live today, and the ones that do reside in shadows. White tattoo markings are found on Outcast prisoners - traitors during the Great War and the Terusian Massacre. Most have red eyes, but some Outcast willingly give up sight in favor of enhancing their mental abilities. Outcast who give up their sight can see through others thoughts, and they make the most powerful dark elementals. (Aside from the Xenema)
The Outcast are cousins to the Elves, and so they also live to 120 on average. They age like humans until they reach adulthood.
Demons

The Demons are warriors at heart. Demons pride themselves on their strength and are physically the most powerful race. During the Great War, Demons were forced off their lands and exiled to live in Terusia. Terusia is a land covered in snow where hardly anything grows. Survival is tough but a Demon knows how to scavenge and stay alive. The Demons loathe Humans and Elves alike.
If any Human or Elf dares to enter Terusia, they are never seen or heard from again. Drakon however are welcome, as well as the Xenema and Kitari. If there are any surviving Outcast in Terusia, they too are now welcomed. After the Terusian Massacre (The battle between the Outcast and Demons over the right to rule Terusia), Demons accept the Outcast as their own and now are trying to help their race not to become extinct.
Demons look very similar to Humans, though they have clawed nails and sharp fangs. The true way to tell a Demon apart from Human is if their eyes glow in the dark like cat's eyes.
Demons have a natural resistance to elemental attacks.
Demons can live to 200 years. They age like humans until they reach adulthood. It's rare to see a Demon live to old age, thanks to their way of life. Any Demon who makes it to that age is respected and thought of as a powerful Demon for surviving so long.
Drakon

Drakon are specified by gender. The males are called Drakos and the females Drakena. The Drakon are fond of treasures, whether it be gold or jewels. Drakon have varied sizes and shapes of their horns. Depending on the tribe or clan, the Drakon may or may not have a tail. Patches of scales are commonly found on dry areas of skin.
During the Great War the Drakon tribes held different positions. Some joined with the Outcast and the Demons to aid the Xenema, while many decided to remain neutral. After the Great War, the Drakon returned to their homes.
Even today some of the Drakon live in tribes. Many of the tribes are nomadic, but they have their nest where they keep their horde. Wealth is a status of power in Drakon tribes. The tribes are less civilized than the clans. Tribes are willing to raid and attack others if it means treasure.
Drakon clans are more advanced, and they have learned to resist their greedy urges. As the tribes are, the clans are also a powerful people, but they favor peace when it is an option. The Drakon clans like to keep to themselves and build on wealth by creating goods. The clans are prestigious and their wealth shows through their ornate homes, wares and clothing.
While the Drakon remain in good favor with most races, the Humans are wary of them since the tribes tend to be something of a nuisance. The Drakon tribes have caused damage to the relationship between Drakon and Humans, making the Humans wary whenever a Drakon is in their city. Because of the growing tension, many Drakon avoid the Human cities, in favor of not causing trouble.
The Drakon live to 150 on average. They age like humans until they reach adulthood.
Kitari

The Kitari are a curious people. Kitari have a great pride in their culture and they are a rather primitive people. They have the ability to shape shift, taking on the form of any animal or being they wish to become. Because of this valuable ability, Kitari are hunted for their tails. Nobody knows how the Kitari can do this, but once a Kitari's tail has been cut off, the Kitari can no longer change form. People believe the tail of a Kitari will bring them good luck, and many wish to unlock the secrets of their power.
Kitari have two natural forms. Their humanoid form which has the ears and tail of a fox, and then their fox form. These forms do not consume any energy for them, but anytime they take form of something else, the longer they hold the form, the more drained they become. Even the most powerful Kitari could only hold a form for almost a full day.
They sleep in dens (large communities built underground) and go hunting in groups. Because of the dangers that they face when around outsiders, many do not know how to behave in Human societies. The Kitari rule is to claim anything they like, whether it be an item or person. When a Kitari claims something, they feel entitled that it is theirs, whether it truly belongs to them or not. In Kitari life, Kitari often make exchanges, or sometimes they just take what they like. When a person is claimed by a Kitari, it means the Kitari is claiming them as their mate. Once a Kitari chooses a mate, that is their mate for life. Kitari only choose one mate in their entire life. If two or more Kitari choose the same mate, then they compete for affection until a winner is chosen. That is the Kitari way.
Unfortunately, the Kitari do not understand the customs of other societies. Because of their relaxed rules, often Kitari end up in trouble. If a Kitari claims a mate outside of Kitari society, they have been known to never give up, even if the chosen mate does not wish to be claimed. Kitari have a poor attention span and hate too many rules. This is because Kitari society only takes care of their basic needs then spend all of their focus on games and fun.
The Kitari did not get involved in the Great War.
Because the Kitari are excellent at digging, they do a lot of excavation work and trade jewels with the Drakon clans. In exchange they are given food. To the Kitari, food is a valuable resource, since they have to hunt daily.
Kitari live to 60 years on average, a good number also reaching the age of 80. They tend to hide their age and wrinkles with their shape shifting abilities.
Xenema

The Xenema are rare intelligent creatures that are capable of using the elements. They appear at first glance to be normal animals, but often they are larger than the average animal, or sometimes have peculiar fur markings, eye colors and unusual traits. They possess the ability of speech, and an intelligence that rivals any humanoid being.
Because the Xenema look like animals, they often stick to the wilderness and keep far from cities and people, not wanting to be hunted down by mistake. They have their own hidden societies deep within the forests.
The Xenema are the most powerful elementally and were once revered gods, for they once protected all humanoid life. Mankind did not always possess the ability to use elements. It was only after the Great War that mankind could harness the power of the Xenema, and this was the purpose of the Great War - to steal their power for themselves.
There are just a handful of Xenema left in the world. They live for hundreds of years.
