Keilana had been in tears, tears when she figured it out and down right shock. As soon as the leaf girl had discovered the reason behind her being sick she had fled her home afraid her terrified look would only prompt her brother to ask and prod her about what was wrong. And what could she tell him? Oh that she had sex with the male shifter that had beat him up over his lover? So Keilana had fled to the one person she felt comfortable talking to about this. Animah.
Of course along her hurried trek, her hammer actually left at home for once as both her arms were currently being used to shield her stomach and prevent detection, although it only would draw more attention to it. Although her pregnancy wasn't very obvious yet, it felt REALLY obvious to her, that her stomach was bigger than it had been and she was very self conscious about it.
"Animah??" Keilana shouted as she wiped her mouth, having been ill only moments before arriving at her best friends home. Though her yell wasn't very loud she felt...herself wince despite herself.

Aminah had been at her work bench, looking over a new addition to her variety in her garden. She had recently taken a trip to Jauhar, and while Jerarda didn't know much about plants, she was able to get a species of a small bushy plant that Jerarda had said was safe to eat. She meant to ask Takoda about it later, if she was ever able to meet the guy. She had been so busy as of late that she hadn't even gotten around to introducing herself, though now that she thought of it, she hadn't seen him around Tale in a while.
The bench faced the window, away from the door and when her friend Keilana entered her home, she jumped, knocking the plant's container to a precarious position on her table. She righted the plant quickly, looking it over to make sure that it hadn't been damaged before turning to her friend. It's what she got for being so consumed in her work.
Keilana looked terrible. She had a worried, almost agonized look on her face and she looked like she had been ill. Aminah could see the circles under her eyes and the strain on her face.
"Keilana! Are you alright?" Aminah got up from her seat and moved toward her friend. "What happened?" Aminah's face was consumed by a frown. She pushed herself onto Keilana, gently squeezing her friend into a hug.

Keilana wasn't exactly sure what to say, in fact she felt down right horrible all of a sudden to realize that the last time they had met she had been angry and crying as well. Though this time she wasn't angry at anyone in particular (that would come later) she was very upset. Feeling her friend envelope her in a hug, she wanted to return it but stopped as she didn't want to uncover her stomach. So it ended up an awkward sort of hug that was rather one sided.
"Animah ...I..." Gently she used one hand to push her friend away to give herself some distance, the girl looked as if she had lost some weight and indeed she had despite the small but firm bulging of her stomach, but being sick all the time...certainly hadn't been easy on her.
"I...think.." The girl began again trying hard not to burst out crying but she looked as if she was going to fall apart.

Aminah felt the awkward hug and her brow furrowed. She wasn't expected to be pushed away, even if it was very gently and politely. She looked over Keilana again to see if she had any sort of visible wound, something that could get infected and cause so much pain for her friend.
Seeing nothing but Kei's hand on her stomach, she moved to her next instinct. "Kei, what's wrong? Did you eat something bad? Are you coming down with something? I can get some plants, or maybe look for Takoda? He knows more than I do about healing plants." She had heard through the grapevine about Jacinthus' partner, though she still had yet to meet him.
The worry she felt for her friend chilled her to the bone. It must be serious if Keilana was this upset about it. She reached her hands out, wanting to inspect Keilana further and search for an answer to her friend's health.
But Aminah wasn't reading the signs properly. Her brain was on anything but was about to come next.

The young leaf tribe girl chewed on her bottom lip, trying to compose herself and yet the entire time ...dread was filling her. It was as if declaring it out loud meant it was true, as long as those words didn't come out then it could just be a very bad dream.
Shaking her head she knew that Takoda already knew, he had been ...helping her out in his own silent way (which only infuriated her more) by providing teas that helped with her being sick all the time, now if only she had caught on before he had.
"Ah...he already knows...but.." Keilana watched how worried her friend looked and she couldn't...just could say the words and so taking her friends hand she closed her eyes and placed it on her small baby bump and held it there. Please say she understood...please.

Aminah's hand felt the small swelling of Keilana's abdoment. Confusion crossed her face before realization dawned. The sickness, the agonized expression, covering her stomach; oh man was Aminah slow. She immediately grinned at the news. It was everything she had ever wanted: a family of her own! And her friend would get to experience the joy she always imagined it would be.
But the grin was quickly erased and replaced by a blush when she realized what that meant Keilana had to do to get to this condition. She finally was able to speak. "Oh..." She looked Keilana in the eyes. "I didn't realize that there was someone you felt that way about..." Her blush spread. She couldn't contain the rapid fire crawling across her cheeks.
Even with her embarrassing train of thought she was excited for her friend. She finally moved her hand off of Keilana's stomach and wrapped both hands around Keilana's. "Oh Kei!"

Keilana felt her body ...stiffen as Animah went to hug her again, her mind was a whirl a moment, it had taken some difficulty to register the previous statement Animah had mentioned. Had someone she felt that way about? That was probably the problem...she didn't...and that was why this miracle of life wasn't exactly the most welcome thing in the world.
Pushing her friend she tried to not burst back into tears after all her hormones weren't exactly stable. "Animah..that..that's the pro..problem. I don't have anyone I feel that way...about." The whole event with the shifter had been a drunken escapade. One they didn't think that there would be repercussions for, though it seemed like life was having a lot of fun mocking the thought.

Another look of confusion crossed Aminah's face as she registered the words. The problem? What could she possibly mean there wasn't anyone she felt that way about? There had to be someone since Keilana was in this condition right in front of Aminah's eyes. But then she thought more clearly about it, trying to throw her childhood dreams out of the picture so they wouldn't cloud her thoughts and preconceptions.
Oh.
She tightened up a bit at the thought that Keilana might have done something so personal with someone she didn't love. But she wasn't one to judge and she certainly would not judge her best friend. She relaxed her shoulders, there had to be an explanation for how this happened and Aminah probably would have been in the same situation given the circumstances, whatever they were.
She took Keilana's hands and tried to bring her to one of the seats in her small, two-room home. There wasn't much furniture now that she had moved out on her own from her parents, but there was enough for her friend. "Oh Kei, here, sit down. Do you want something to drink? I can make you a tea for your stomach if you'd like?" She wanted to be as supportive of her friend as she could. "How did it happen?" She eyed her friend's stomach and felt a small pang of envy.

Keilana allowed herself to be led she sat down and wrapped her arms around her stomach trying to conceal it best she should which was difficult. At the mention of tea she nodded her head, it seemed everyone knew of this miracle tea that helped to make her feel less sick. At least this was what she assumed since the only other tea she had been exposed to was the one Takoda had given her to help with her sickness.
She waited for Animah to come back with the tea before she launched into the story about her going into the forest, how she had used poor judgment and feeling rather ...self loathing had gotten herself and the shifter who had tried protect her drunk before they both ended up rolling around in the forest floor.
She also explained how Chalcedony ...was actually a rival for her brothers lover Takoda and how they had fought and now she was carrying the guys child and how her brother was probably going to murder him.

Keilana's story had Aminah floored. Since when did Kei have such a dramatic life? Well, she knew about her brother and his lover, but she had no idea the tangled web of all the people involved.
Aminah had sat back down after giving Keilana the tea, and she was glad she did. It gave her something to lean against as she tried to take it all in. "Oh my Kei..."
But then another thought came to her. "Your brother doesn't know?" How would Kei even tell this news to her brother? Oh she wished she could make her friend's life so much easier. "And if he doesn't know... the father doesn't know either?" Well, perhaps this was a time when Keilana should make nice with Takoda and use him as a shield. "Have you thought of how you were going to tell either of them yet?"
Aminah's head was reeling with so many questions. How would Kei tell them? Would this Chalcedony guy stick around? Would he feel weird since his original love interest was a man and not a woman? Oh gods, Aminah couldn't get it to stop.
She tried to force herself to let Keilana answer before she continued with her barrage of questions.

Taking the tea in hand she merely held it for the longest time almost as if she had forgotten it was in her grasp until Animah spoke and she found her body shaking slightly. To stop it she lifted the cup to her lips and took a deep breath of the steam before finally sipping the liquid. It tasted similar to the stuff Takoda had been brewing her but slightly different. Perhaps they were using different herbs she really had no idea.
At the mention of her brother she shook her head, no Jacinthus had no idea yet and when Chalcedony was brought up she also shook her head. It felt like she was just stupid...after all it was no for all the questions thus far.
"No..neither of them know, I want to tell Chalcedony first, Takoda already seems to know I am pregnant but not who the father is and I am thankful he hasn't pried thus far. " She began, she wasn't even sure how to go about locating the shifter....
"I would rather Chal know before my brother, so I suppose I will have to think up something before it becomes really obvious." She commented with a dry and shakey laugh.

Aminah looked at her friend with wide and caring eyes. She really wanted to make Keilana feel better. She wanted to do anything she could for her friend, even if that meant tracking down Chalcedony herself... though really, she had no idea what he looked like.
"Are you planning on going to look for him?" She looked down at Kei's belly and all that came with it. "Do you think you're up for it? Travelling in your... condition might not be the best thing."
She took a deep breath and looked Keilana in the eyes. "Kei, do you want me to go with you? I can help you find him, and I can take care of you on the way. I know you can handle yourself usually... but this seems a little different. You can't exactly strain yourself with the hammer right now..." She was trying to talk seriously and push any objection out of her friend. She didn't know how Kei would react, but she had this idea that she would refuse and want to go it alone, and that wasn't necessary.
Too bad Aminah's serious face wasn't very serious. Still she hoped the message would get through.

Keilana had to stop and think a bit, she had always just assumed she would go by herself and now that Animah pointed out her 'condition' she wasn't entirely sure her plan for soloing this task was that bright. Taking a deep breath she tried to steady herself. Keilana hated being considered 'delicate' she wielded a bloody hammer normally and thus she was stubborn in her idea of gallivanting off to find the shifter.
"I dunno..I appreciate it...but..." A pause, she knew one person who would have an idea of where Chalcedony lived but would it be ...appropriate to ask Takoda for that information? He already guessed her condition and if she asked for the whereabouts of Chalcedony he may put two and two together. Primarily she just needed someone to stall her brother so he wouldn't come looking for her while she was out.
Once again...Takoda sprung to mind. Why? It seemed that he was always the answer to everything and it annoyed her so.
"I may...take you up on your request...but I hope you won't be offended if ...I want to talk to him alone once we find him." Her response was slow, " I will need to talk to Takoda...since he seems willing to not rat me out perhaps he can stall my brother long enough we can find Chalcedony before my brother gets wind I am gone."

Aminah sighed with relief. Thankfully Keilana saw a little bit of reasoning in Aminah's voice and she was coming around.
She blushed at Keilana's words. "Of course you two would talk privately! I wouldn't want to intrude on something so... personal." Even though Aminah loved her friend and would want to know exactly how the conversation went, she knew her place enough to know that she wouldn't overhear that conversation. She would have to be happy with letting Keilana fill her in on whatever Keilana felt like she should be filled in on. There would be plenty of time on the way back to talk about it.
"That sounds like a good plan. I'm ready whenever you are, Kei. All you have to do is say the word and we'll go track him down for you." Aminah smiled at her friend and reached for her free hand. The tea was probably cold by now, but cold tea was still pretty delicious. She would have to remember to get Kei to finish the rest of it before she left.
"I can be as big a part of this as you want me to be. I'll help as much as I can."

Keilana nodded her head slowly again, her hand coming to rest on the offensive bulge in her middle, though it was becoming less offensive the longer she got use to it. Still it was going to be a major shift in her life, no longer would she be worrying about her brother...but she would have a little one of her own. Would Chalcedony want to be apart of he or she's life? Or would he rather not be apart of it considering the circumstances?
There was still so much she needed to talk to him about and the sooner the better.
"Of course. I'll let you know as soon as I am mentally prepared. I am...scared though. I..didn't think I'd be the type who would become a mother." She whispered the last part as if using the word mother was a trifle scary. A bit too real for her even though that was going to happen to her no matter what she wanted.
Taking another sip of her tea she was surprised to find it empty, and her stomach feeling...a trifle calmer..now hungry. "Don't suppose...you could feed us?" She asked sounding a bit silly to be including a baby whom she just recently decided to accept.
