It was with great and terrible certainty that Pasha proclaimed herself, not even a week after waking up, a horrible aim.
She had, over the course of two hours of intensive target practice, managed to hit two assistants, a passing seagull, and a surplus of bushes and rocks. It was not exactly the sort of progress she wanted to see, especially when the actual target was still relatively unscathed. Táo, of course, was little to no help. His riddle-like remarks provided about as much assistance as a firearms manual written in some strange, out-dated language that didn't want to exist anymore.
"This is useless." Pasha sighed, looking down the body of the rifle. After a moment, she gave up completely and let her legs fold so that she was kneeling, her bare knees knocking together and her boots crunching into the hard, cold ground.
After all, it was such a lovely morning, what with it being 5AM and all, the sun hidden behind a blanket of thick mist.
At least you were able to hit a moving target. Twice. Táo responded blithely in her head.
"By accident." Pasha returned, still not entirely used to talking inside of her head with... with a voice inside of her head. She cradled the weapon between her arms and legs, the muzzle resting on her shoulder. She shivered into the cold, rubbing her hands together as the charms on her hip clinked together again and again. "Let's face it, I couldn't hit a target if it was standing two feet in front of me with a sign saying hit me."
Because that is the right sort of spirit to go into this with. Táo reprimanded blandly, and the girl blanched. Give it time. And a few more hours of practice.
"Mm."
Pasha swayed for a long moment before letting her body fall completely back onto the rigid ground, the rifle still cradled to her chest as she stared up at the sky. Or what was left of it at least, beyond the heavy thickets of mist. After a long moment, she closed her eyes and exhaled. ... We should go get coffee. That sounds so good right about now.
She could literally feel Táo frowning in the deep recesses of her mind.
I've changed my mind. He said after a pause. You are completely and absolutely hopeless.kurotomato I present to you the most useless intro ever

It was with great and terrible certainty that Gale proclaimed himself, almost two and a half years after waking up, still a horrible aim.
It would have been better, he decided, if he had chosen a weapon that was not so infernally capable of missing - or maybe it was just him. Either way, after the fiasco with the shadowlings, Gale was quite certain that he had, in fact, gotten worse over the past few years, rather than progress to the level at which he was presently at.
It was close to five in the morning when Gale made his way sleepily out to the training fields. He wasn't normally up so early, but considering his complete lack of pride at the current moment, he was determined to better himself and that meant doing as much training as humanly possible.
<< You're pathetic. >>
Thank you.
<< I mean that with the utmost affection. >>
Of course.
To Gale's astonishment, however, despite the ridiculous hour of the morning, the training field was, in fact, not empty. There was a girl sitting on the grass several yards away from the dummies, the field itself shrouded in a filmy grey mist.
She looked vaguely familiar. "Er," said Gale, stopping when he was about a foot away from her. "Good...morning."

Pasha blinked out of her thoughts at the sound of boots crunching through the frost crusted grounds of the target practice range, her mind whirring slowly into focus again. Was someone else here? Pasha pondered this for a moment before realizing that there was in fact someone there, and they were in fact standing a foot away from her. Jolting up, Pasha rolled to her feet in a few seconds flat, her pigtails bouncing as she landed with all of the grace of a startled mouse and nearly bumped into Gale in the process.
"Oh - " She lifted her hands and blinked, staring first at the boy's chest and then slowly lifting her eyes to his face, her cheeks dusting a faint red. Hastily, she stepped back, fumbling to de-summon the rifle from her arms. "Good morning."
Just take a deep breath. Táo mused calmly in her head. It's not as scary as you make it out to be.
Yes it is, Pasha was inclined to return. Human interaction was indeed very, very scary; she knew, she'd been there, done that, been labeled all sorts of crazy just for it too. But - maybe here would be different. Blinking up at the boy, she tried to place him. A vague remembrance was creeping in... but she couldn't quite place the familiarity.
Smiling gently, Pasha tilted her head. "I don't think we've met properly." She mused, clinging to some from of calm via Tåo's gentle, wordless hums in the back of her mind. "I'm Pasha. Are you here to - um - practice too?" kurotomato sorry this isn't a very good response! @ A @ i'm still trying to get a hang on playing pasha q___qa GIRL CHARACTERS ARE HARD WHEN THEY ARENT WEARING THE PANTS IN THE RELATIONSHIP stares at madeline

When he had seen her before, he'd thought she'd looked around the same age as he was - and now that they were right next to each other and not ensconced within the throes of battle, Gale could see that he was right. Though, he considered, she may have been a year or two older than him. Still, it was better than nothing.
<< She's so small and cute. Like a little deer. >>
Yes, thank you for your input, Ginny.
The dragon was laughing, clearly entertained with himself, and Gale cleared his throat, resisting the urge to roll his eyes. "Gale," he replied, giving her - Pasha - a small nod, his hair falling across his face. He reached up and pushed away some of the white and blonde strands, tilting his head a little. "And yes, I'm here to train. You're, ah...you're new, aren't you? To Deus, I mean?"

Pasha smiled at Gale, her expression widening warmly when the boy gave her his name. "Gale. Hi! It's a pleasure." She bowed her head appreciatively, her hands folding together in front of her stomach. At the question, she perked up almost immediately, color tinging the pale skin of her cheeks.
He seems nice enough. Táo mused brightly in her head. His voice deepened nearly threateningly after a moment of silence. Unlike those ones you were telling me about before.
Realizing she had simply been staring as Táo rattled on and on in her head, Pasha shook her head and smiled apologetically at Gale. "Me too - being here to train, I mean. Bad aim." She tapped the side of her head where the ornate pin now in her hair. "Sorry - I'm still getting used to a s-second voice in my head. And I'm new. I - " She flushed a bright shade of red. "W-was woken up a few days ago. Y-you're much less terrifying than those guys though."
Mei-mei. Táo's voice seemed nearly exasperated, and Pasha realized her mistake one second too late.
"Not to say you aren't intimidating! Um - anyways." She stared in morbid embarrassment at her toes. "I'm not the most eloquent of people, I'm sorry."
Open mouth, insert foot.
