Dance -
Aside from the obvious of ballet, Delphi also enjoys contemporary jazz, and even hip hop. Even as a child, she was never able to sit still if there was music playing. She was the little girl that was up and out of her chair, wiggling her hips and hopping around. For her 6th birthday her parents enrolled her in dance school. Tap was her first introduction into the world of choreography and recitals, but she very quickly moved from that and into ballet and jazz. At 15 she looked into hip hop, and found the juxtaposition between it and ballet enjoyable.
Equestrian -
While there is not a lot of room in the city itself for horses or stables, there is land on the outskirts of the city. Delphine's family has a small stable a couple of miles outside DC, and Delphi tries to get out there when she can to visit the three horses that reside there. One belongs to her mother, one her sister, and the last is her's, a lovely little american paint filly named Whiskey Rose. There was a time when Delph had seriously considered getting into jumping, but that was before dance took over most of her life. She still enjoys riding as a hobby.
World Travel -
The Rousseau family is a well traveled family. They have been all over the globe, vacationing in cities and resorts on almost every continent; skiing in the Alps, lounging on white sand beaches in Cozumel, eating at sidewalk cafes in Paris. Delphine loves the excitement of travel, seeing new places, trying new and interesting cuisine, learning abut the cultures, visiting various bits of national and international history. Her favorite trip to date has been visiting the ruins of Athens.
Virtues:
Refined -
The Rousseau family have been wealthy for a few generations now, even before they had moved from Louisianan for Destiny City. As such, Delphine has had all the teachings and lessons of most high society children. She speaks politely, articulately, and in modest tones. She has perfect posture. She can tell a Monte from a Mucha, between Bach and Beethoven, and escargot and calamari.
Diligent -
Most young people with the sort of privileged up bringing Delphine had been blessed with might be somewhat spoiled. Delphi, though very used to the finer things, also has a very healthy work ethic. It might not necessarily be directed at anything resembling a job, but she is not afraid of hard work when it revolves around things she is passionate about. She is not afraid of long hours of practice, or blisters from breaking in a new pair of toe-shoes. She will put in the work needed to achieve what she desires, and she will do so gladly, without complaint.
Demure -
Reserved and modest in appearance and behavior. Delphine sticks to a particular style of clothing, a certain flavor of music. She does not often cuss, or sink to vulgarities. Her clothing carries designer labels, but she prefers more modest cuts and subdued tones. She speaks softly, though does not often speak out of turn, nor does she like drawing attention to herself in any negative light.
Flaws:
Haughty -
Because of her upbringing, it's not much of a shock that Delphi developed a bit of superiority complex. She has a habit of looking down on people she sees as below her, and has not yet had any sort of influence to break her of such thoughts. A privileged childhood has made her entitled, dismissive, and arrogant.
Literal -
Sarcasm and joking did not often find their way into the Reasseau household through Delphine's youth. She does not have the exposure to slang that most young people in this day and age have received. This has left her at a bit of a disadvantaged when communicating with people outside of the social circles she was brought up in. She tends to take comments literally, passive aggression goes over her head, and she is not accustomed to sarcasm. If someone tells her they're fine, she will believe them, rather than reading into the context of their tone, or the situation.
Prudish -
Sex might be normal fixture in the lives of most teenagers, but it has not been for Delphi. She was home tutored, receiving her diploma early. What socialization she did have was with other children of similar background. She has not been exposed to the sort of pop cultural influence that is predominate in american society. Vulgar jokes bother her. Vulgar language is unacceptable. Forward advances would make her extremely uncomfortable, and she would have no idea how to respond to them.
