This is my Drop pod on a budget. It's made out of three different materials. The outer fins are balsa wood ( sand them first, my bad ) The base and doors and made of tin or thin sheet metal ( easy to cut and bend to shape ) and the black part at the top is made of thin cardboard ( a soda can box to be exact ) The base it's mounted on is a messed up CD. They work great for bases as you can build one or two pods and use blank Cd as drop pod markers and use the models for cover reference and such.
I used fish tank gravel at the bottom and painted it black. Hot glue works good for assembly it's quick and not hard to find. I dose get messy around the edges however silicone might work better for smooth edges but it will take longer. I have instructions to build a very complicated pod with working doors and all kinds of nifty cool stuff and then I have the four parts of the instructions I used to build what you see in the pic. It's by no means perfect but it sure works for me.
*EDIT*
I managed to post the pics at there full size they are in a post below.
I used legal paper to print on because of it's length you can easily get all of the parts for the drop pod on 2-3 sheets of paper that way. 1 sheet if you go with the simple version.
