He couldn't concentrate on his movie.

promised.> The angel pleaded, he'd done yelling, he'd done demanding, now he was down to pleading and trying to reason with Rep's better nature. He was having no success.

He set his mouth in a thin line and tried to hook into the dialogue all over again, he wasn't hearing any of it though.

<never ******** control me.>>

he fell silent.

He should have been able to concentrate - he still couldn't.

Ferros had waited for some ten minutes past the time they'd had scheduled for golem use, waving off Jordan's concern; his hunter had gone to the gym after a few minutes, with the stipulation that Ferros should come and get him if something had gone wrong. Ferros had an unpleasant suspicion about what had gone wrong, though, and it was something that he should see to himself if he was right.

He ducked under the doorframe of the shared room with some trepidation. Rep was indeed still lying on the bed with the laptop open, and Ferros's mouth angled down in unhappiness. He moved across the room to sit on the floor beside the bed, as quietly as a large, semi-metallic creature could manage. He said nothing, but he watched Rep steadily.

Rep noticed Ferros come into the room, still staring at his video but registering the large golem in his peripheral vision. Tracey had gone completely silent, and his flutter of gratitude and apology only kindled a low and vicious sort of irritation in Rep. He didn't look round or so much as acknowledge the dragon's presence for a few long drawn out moments, it was only when he felt like he had suitably instated his own control of the situation that he finally raised a brow at him.

"Can I help you?"

"It is 6:15," Ferros said, almost apologetically.

Rep looked back at the screen. "Well so it is. Well done."

"You are not coming to the golem room?" Ferros shifted on his haunches, his plating rattling a little.

Rep reached out his hand to daintily drum his fingers on the plastic casing of the laptop. "No~ope."

Rep's almost friendly, amused grin iced over into something a lot colder. In a nimble motion he paused the movie, closing the laptop with a faint click and setting it aside. He sat up on the bed cross legged.

"Why?" he repeated. "Because firstly, I'm the one in charge here. Tracey's been getting arrogant since we got back from that nightmare world thanks to you, assuming I am going to run around enabling his twisted little monster romance. Secondly, you are both weapons, I don't want my ******** soul running off with someone else's, even if that someone else is Jordan." He narrowed his eyes and curled his lip in a silent snarl.

"And lastly, most importantly. I don't ******** want to."

The red glow of Ferros's eyes flickered in a blink, and he thought that over. Finally, he said, "You don't like me, either."

"I like you as a hammer keeping my fiancée alive." he said. "But at the end of the day you are just a monster, the exact same as the things we fight out there when you aren't. The enemy."

Tracey said, and for just a moment there was a white hot spark of jealousy and dislike that was nothing to do with Rep.

"I don't trust you." He didn't voice his worried about the bleed over between weapon and weilder, the way he sometimes found himself mired in Tracey's emotions, the fear that he might not even be where he was if he didn't have the fallen angel twisting his thoughts.

Ferros's tail jerked, but he kept it from sweeping to the side, mindful of the breakable things around him. "I am not a monster," Ferros said, all stiff and offended pride. "I am a weapon. I eat monsters."

Rep's smirk twisted patronising. "You are just a monster we took and reversed the polarity on like a tool. It didn't change fundamentally what you are. A man who murders other men is still human."

He waved a hand dismissively. "All this cuddly encouraging you all to be your own people is the wrong way to go about it I see. We are letting you overpower us. It should be the other way around, strength of mind bringing you to heel. Tracey said he didn't remember anything about before, that was just the start. I guess the eventual aim is that you don't remember anything at all, except how to fight."

<like you.>>

Ferros shifted uncomfortably, wishing that he could hear Jordan. He didn't have anywhere near his human's capacity to argue, to poke holes in Rep's logic; he had only his sense that it was wrong.

"If we had nothing to offer you, we wouldn't have our minds," he tried. He had no doubt that it was possible to grind away all that was left - the fact that he had only fragmentary recollections backed by emotions rooted in memories he would never get back suggested that.

A small puff of steam drifted from the pipes on his shoulders. "Why do you say you want to be a monster if you hate us so?"

"Well it's clearly no a perfect process yet." he crooned nastily. "In a perfect world it would just be like, here's your massive axe, go massacre abominations by their hundreds. Instead we have to figure out how to ******** live with someone else in our heads. You got a choice, we never did."

There was a twinge of hurt from Tracey at the implication Rep wouldn't have chosen him, given the chance, but there was nothing he could say to argue.

Rep's anger flared up once again, somehow even more upset by the calm and honest way Ferros replied to what he had to say than if things had escalated. "Like you could understand. I wanted to be like you creeps because you all have it so ******** easy. No death - not for long, immense power, instincts, all sorts of s**t. It's s**t I envy, but that doesn't mean I can't loathe you all for your ignorance. Even living in our heads you never really learn anything about us, all you can do is mimic us. Even this like golem thing, its stupid. Dragons don't date ******** fallen angels."
