Of The Epidemic Sorry this took so long.... life decided it wanted to eat me OTL Yun sighed and leaned against his counter in the café. It had just been so busy lately. What with Yami moving back into the same town as him and helping to raise his grandchild that all seemed to end up with powers. Plus once visitors found out about his Grandson’s singing ability not to mention his Daughter in laws they practically flocked to the café. It was way busier than he had ever planned when he started the café. It was just supposed to be a remote café that a few people came too and a chance to have a safe environment to keep the villagers from trying to hurt Yami because of his red eye. Well it wasn’t like he really minded it gave him something to do most days. However he didn’t really get any time to himself. When he was younger it was just lesson after lesson, and having to live up to his Grandfather’s idea of the perfect Kirin, and once he had run away to try and find himself he instantly had to become a father do to a careless night of drinking. Don’t get him wrong he wouldn’t have traded yami for the world but for once he would like some time to himself. It was obvious he was losing his people skills if the last encounter with that one female noodle was any indication. He sighed and shook his head. It wasn’t as if he didn’t like working here or being a grandfather. Maybe he should just make that who he was.

Zarya tucked some hair behind her ear as she walked along. She was honestly a bit lonely as of late, her daughter had never seemed to have much interest in her. Yes they talked and she liked to believe she had a fairly decent relationship with her, but the truth was she hardly ever saw her and they lived in the same house. She gave a soft sigh, and her adopted son had taken to his lover’s house and started spending all his time over there. She couldn’t say that she blamed him of course, they were clearly in love and she wished them only the best. It brought tears of joy to her eyes every time she thought about it. She was secretly hoping for some grandchildren sometime soon but she didn’t wanna pressure them. She wanted a large family, had always dreamed of it, of course she had also always dreamed of that someone special to spend her life with. She shook her head and sighed, she was lonely, so very lonely.
If only things had worked out with Arrakis’ father… of course it had been an accident a moment of weakness. One that she didn’t exactly regret as it had given her two beautiful children, even if she never saw her son. Ever since she had washed up here things had become harder and harder, she wondered if she was really meant for happiness. She shook her head once more that was no way to think. Everyone was meant for happiness, every single person, sometimes it was just a bit harder to find.
She pulled a smile onto her face as she looked at the front of the shop. This was the place, the male, Yun, had been so kind to her. To take care of her hurt paw and make sure she was alright. She had decided she was going to make him something special for his trouble, and thus here she was. She had baked up a wonderful tea cake as a thank you and it was currently tucked safely in her basket. She gave a contented little sigh before pushing the door open and smiling.
“Hello?” She called out looking around the interior her eyes eventually landing on the male.
“Yun, I brought you a gift, as a thank you.” She stated smiling, before she realized that he might not remember her. Her cheeks flushed a bright red color and she looked down.
“Ah, it’s Zarya, you helped me the other night.”

Running his hand through his hair he sipped on a hot chocolate. While he did own a café he really didn’t like drinking Coffee all that much. Luckily he could make a pretty good one without having to taste it most of the time. Besides it never hurt to just sit back when the shop was empty. Heaven knows some times breaks where hard to find, and while he was relatively young Kirin wise he was carrying some years. Licking the whip cream he made a note of the chill outside and used his magic to feed the fire. One of the perks he supposed of having magical powers, they helped you be lazy when you wanted to enjoy your drink.
Suddenly the bell went off at the front door and with a sigh at having to deal with a new customer he looked up from his cup. Most of the time he didn’t bother with putting anything on the door since it would obviously go off constantly and eventually drive either him or Vanhi insane. Even worse it would probably interrupt Bolero’s performances. However when there had been a lull and he wasn’t always behind the counter he often placed it up to know when he had to slip back into owner mode. “Ah yes one moment, is there anything I can…” he trailed off when he realized exactly who had walked through the door.
“Oh Hello Zarya it’s a surprise seeing you again, yes I remember you had the hurt paw? What brings you back to this remote location?” Yun spoke up setting his drink down and walking out from behind his table. He made a quick sweep of the room to make sure everything was tidy and tossed his apron on the chair. Hopefully he wouldn’t need it for a little bit.

Zarya did a small curtsy, a flush coming to her cheeks. She probably seemed a little silly to him but at the same time she felt it was only polite. She was nothing if not polite. “Yes that was me, it’s a pleasure to see you once more Yun. Are you well?” She asked standing there with the sweetest of smiles on her face. “Well it is such a beautiful place, and the drink really was delicious. It would be a shame not to come back for that alone. However, I am here for something a bit more personal than a simple drink.” She stated softly. She indicated the basket on her arm slightly. “You were so kind to me, such kindness should never go unrewarded. It is so rare to see it in this land.” She stated softly looking about herself, and thinking back on all the rather foul tempered noodles she had met over her time here.
“Well, that aside, I thought this time I could make you something. I know it’s a café, which is normally coffee, but I made something called a tea cake. I’m not sure if you have ever heard of it but it’s something my mother taught me to do and it’s quite delicious.” She said with a smile moving to the table to sit the basket down and open the lid of the basket to show him the glass dish that held a dark colored cake, there were no toppings but it smelled of cinnamon and ginger. It was a sweet concoction but not overly so, firm as it was meant to be eaten at a lady’s tea table, and thus had to be easy to handle by hand. It had been a staple at her mother’s tea time ever since she had been very little.
“I’m not sure what you like and tea cake typically doesn’t have a topping. Though I did bring some whipped cream, fresh from the baker down the street. Mother used to put it on top of my slice of cake when I was very young. It’s quite delicious either way.” She looked back at him with a sweet smile and a slight c**k to her head. “I remember you said you had children, older children, but still family that stayed with you. So I made a big one so that everyone might have a piece. It just didn’t seem right to leave out the rest of your family.” She stated her tail swaying back and forth.
“Thank you, Yun. Really, it was noble of you to help a lady in distress.”

Yun, ever one for manners as well did a slight bow back. After all showing manners and being polite was such a rare thing these days it was kind of refreshing to see it. He had tried to get Yami to be polite and his son was for the most part or Yun supposed a better way of phrasing it was when Yami wanted to. “Mmm well I guess for the most part I’m well. I just feel old lately but nothing I should trouble you with.” He almost opened his mouth again to say making up a drink was no problem, after all he liked when his work was liked. However her next statement on being there a bit more for her visit intrigued him. After all healing people was just second nature to him, as a Kirin he was born with a vast amount of magic, and it only made sense to help others when they needed it.
“Oh you didn’t have to. I was just doing what was right, although I do agree with it being rare especially in this part of the world” he thought briefly thinking to how the villagers used to treat Yami before he wore the eye patch. “However since you did go to all that trouble to make it I would absolutely love to try it. Don’t worry about the café part, half my family can’t actually drink coffee, shh don’t tell anyone” he trailed off in a slightly teasing manner “So we do serve a lot of different drinks here. Including tea. I also have had a tea cake before but not for a long while” he replied. However he did admit it would be nice to have one again. It was something he had missed having tea with cakes with his mother but he had needed to get away from that lifestyle to find himself. He still hadn’t quite found himself. “Oh Yes I do have children, well a child, although he now comes with children of his own, and from what I’ve heard I’m now a great Grandfather.” Yun replied. However since Yami and Vanhi stepped by quite often he was sure they would love it as well. “It was rather thoughtful of you. I’m sure they would love it as well, and the baker always does have absolutely wonderful whip cream I would love to try the tea cakes with it. Is there any type of tea you would like with it. I believe I have hibiscus, raspberry, different types of mint, chocolate, a couple English favorites, various fruit teas as well”

Nasaiki Here we go! Sorry this took so long! <3
Zarya couldn’t help the smile that curled her maw at his bow. He was such a gentlemen. It made her feel that much better about who and what she was. Often times she would receive strange looks from those around her for being what and who she was. It was nice to find someone that was at once polite and gentle. Someone that seemed to understand her manners and not feel the need to laugh at her about it; which most seemed inclined to do.
“Oh it’s no trouble, if you want to speak about it, then please do.” She said softly her voice hitting just above its normally polite tone with interest. She would like to know more about him, without seeming too pushy about it. If he offered up information it would make things easy for her. She was curious about this male, but she was much too polite to pry.
“Still, I felt it should be noted upon. I’m not sure why people in this part of the world seem so… cruel at times.” She shifted slightly as if it made her uncomfortable to say such things. Which in a way it did, she had been taught to hold her tongue if she had nothing nice to say about the situation. Yet here she found she simply couldn’t. She had finally found someone who seemed to understand, so just a touch of her worry seeped through. She truly did worry about the people in this part of the world. Worried for their lack of manners; that thought however was banished at his tease. She gave a small smile and nodded lightly. “Oh your secret is safe with me.” She said with a polite giggle.
“Well if you would please fetch me a plate? I will cut you a slice now while it is warm and you can have it with some whipped cream.” She stated her tail swishing back and forth before she tilted her head to the side. All of those teas sounded delicious but she found that raspberry complemented this particular cake well.
“I would adore some raspberry if you wouldn’t mind?” She said softly pulling out the dish that held the tea cake in it, as well as the whipped cream. “I find it goes well with this particular type of tea cake. That and it just sounds delicious.” She stated brightly tail swishing back and forth as she closed the lid to the basket. “Your family sounds positively lovely by the way. I wish my daughter would bless me with grand children but she seems disinclined to do so. I really do worry about how much time she spends alone.” Zarya said the last part softly, a small frown crossing her features.
