The day was cold, streets littered by the freshly fallen snow and the feel of one's own breath whisping against her face. Her cloak was tucked tightly against her body as she held a basket in her grasp; trying to keep the chill from her throat and chest; face half buried from hence forth in the fluff of the lining. Her relative had advised her against coming out in this weather as it really wasn't helping the sickness which clung to her very lungs at each shallow breath in the chill of the day...but Marceline was determined not to let it hinder her that much. She'd already been cooped up all week thanks to the temperatures and was getting more and more restless. Thankfully her cousin, a wonderful woman who was more like her aunt was part of a traveling merchant band; so it was often that she wasn't home so Marceline was left to tend to the house.

All around the streets she could hear mumblings and excited whispers of a grand ball for the Chosen and Guardians happening within this very town. Marceline was well versed with the lore of the Guardians, since her time here had adored the ability to gaze upon all the different and unique creatures which graced the land. The young lady had imagined in the confines of her bed if she would ever go through the trial to receive a special someone...but she also knew better. Even if she did, the tales of going into the forest sounded treacherous; and she had a feeling her health wouldn't allow her to complete it successfully. Either way, coming to this place was nothing short of a blessing; as it was rare she was ever able to make it out of her home in the winters back home...perhaps; she was healing - even if it was just a little bit. Looking around through her blonde locks she picked out the shop she was looking for; heading inside as the metal bell chimed at her intrusion.

"Welcome.." The kindly old lady spoke, looking towards Marceline. "Well dear I didn't think i'd see you today of all days...its pretty dreadful out there."

"Thank you for your concerns...but I was feeling antsy." Marceline smiled, walking down the creaky wooden floor till she found what she was looking for, scented herbal salts. Filling a few small satchel bags she returned to the front and placed them on the counter, smiling to the shopkeep. "These will be all." Handing over the correct amount for her purchase, the old lady placed them in the basket for the maiden; concern in her face. "I hope these continue to work well for you, Miss. I have tried to get more herbs in to help but its difficult to get anything past the Wood....what with the tales of wolves..." Marceline shook her head and placed her hand on the old woman's, offering a kindly smile. "I wouldn't want any risk on my account, these are working fine; it was a blessing to find these as is. May you stay warm this day, till next time!"

Heading out the door with a wave to the wonderful old lady, Marceline set down the street again; one more stop and then she could head home again. Her cheeks were already rosy with the nipping of the cold against her fair skin, and as the warm air of the shop was replaced with the chill of the outside world she let out a little cough or two; before her footing accidentally caught with a small patch of ice. Slipping she let go of the basket and fell forward, catching herself with her hands on the ground as she winced; once kneeling on the ground she took a look at her hands and luckily they weren't bleeding; just scratched. "Ouch..." She groaned a little, looking to her basket which luckily remained intact with its satchels still in one piece; other than her stinging hands she was alright; giving a cough or two more into the fluff of her cloak as she tried to pick herself up.

Evan gave a soft sigh as he walked out of the hospital. He had a headache forming right behind his eyes, one that seemed intent upon staying. He gave a glance over to the side, the soft ‘click click’ of something drawing his attention. His eyes fell on the doe, the soft browns of her coat bright against the dull grey of the stone. He gave a soft smile reaching out to stroke her nose gently. “Hey girl.” He whispered softly, watching as Kitten’s ears flicked forward at his voice. A soft feeling of welcome enveloping him as he stroked her nose; it was something that made him smile.

It had been some time now that he had had the doe with him. Though he could honestly still remember the panic he had been in after wandering out of the wardwood. He hadn’t known what at all to do with the small statue and had been in a tizzy. Though that tizzy had faded rather quickly and had been nothing compared to the sudden whirlwind that had happened when the fawn had appeared.

He had not had a clue as to what to do with the rather large animal. In hindsight it was kind of funny but at the time he had been completely lost as to what to do. Having never really owned a pet before he didn’t have anything to base it off of; lucky for him his best friend had been chosen before him and had a relatively good idea of what to do.

Though he had teased poor Evan endlessly about his mini panic attack, the bonding process with Kitten hadn’t exactly been a pleasant experience and Evan had suffered many headaches over the time they spent bonding. It had been a tiring and all around unpleasant experience. However in the end it had turned into something that he had been very grateful for.

He gave a soft sigh and shook his head, shaking away the memories. “Let’s go home and get some food. I’m starved.” He mumbled slightly climbing up to just drape across Kitten’s back allowing the doe to carry him. She did this for him quite often after a long day of work and standing on his feet. He was ever so thankful to her, finding she was the best form of transportation.

They were turning a corner, just about to head towards their street when the sound of someone falling caught his attention and he lifted his head causing Kitten to still. In moments he was off Kitten and walking down the street at a brisk pace. “Are you alright?” He asked rather suddenly offering his hand to help her up.

Kitten on the other hand didn’t seem nearly as intent upon coming to see if the lady was ok. She moved forward at a much slower rate coming to stand beside Evan with her head turned away. She didn’t at all seem like she was interested in what her chosen was doing; finding the grey stone far more interesting.
