Jessie tried to remember just what it was that led up to her being dragged along by the hand back through the shadows of the night….
It had started as a pretty typical day, after spending several hours in the bookstore she met up with her friend Zia at the library where they got into a cheerful discussion on authors and books in general. The time had passed fast and soon it was dark, the library was closing, and Jessie remembered what came out in the dark; youma. She didn’t want her friend getting hurt so she suggested they head home but an uneventful night it was not destined to be since they were not more than a few blocks from the library before there was a ominous feel in the air and a shadowy shape seeping from the deeper shadows of the alley they were just about to pass. With a muttered oath Jessie had stepped back and knew that she would have to ‘power up’. She was doing her best to avoid situations like this since it was still difficult to wrap her head around the fact that she was now officially a ‘super hero’ like out of some comic book. But there was no way in hell she was going to let Zia get hurt just because these things seem to be happening to Jessie lately so with a suppressed growl she had ducked into empty store doorway and changed. Changed into Pompeii.
Gone were her sensible gray flats, her slate gray slacks, and pale blue blouse. Now she was in purple heals, purple and gray ruffled corset top, and gray ruffled legging things. And holding a useless ball of yarn! By the time she had stepped around the corner to ‘battle’ the youma it was gone and before you could say ‘surprise!’ Zia had pounced.

Zia always had a tendency to speak a mile a minute, but add that to the flustered page just meekly allowing herself to be dragged around and there was just a lot of eye rolling and babble.
But whatever, she got her picture and weapon data, and they were just at the library so obviously the nitty gritty could be delved into by a much more appropriate mentor.
"Come on, we'll just go see Camelot," She huffed as she dragged her along back to where they'd come from. As much as she tried to be sensitive and nice about things apparently some people just didn't get it. Especially when her so called sensitivity involved a lot of frustration when people didn't seem to click with things right away. How many times did she need to repeat simple processes?! Only one, she decided.
Totally slipped her mind she should probably go check and see if Jessie was alive or something. Whoops.
"What'd you say your name was again?"

Anthony Darrow was finishing up in the library, going through the process of closing it and preparing it for opening the next day. He could do it with his eyes closed at this point, even wandering between the floors and into different areas. He could probably do it without bumping into things.
No, maybe not. He bumped into things with his eyes open regardless of how long he had been hanging out in the library.
The librarian finished gathering the wayward books and processing the drop boxes before running a sweep of the library and cleaning the bathrooms. He powered the computers down and turned off most of the lights, then double checked the doors and their locks before going to the roof.
Up here he could start his second job. He looked around to make sure no one could see him, then powered up to his Knight form, Camelot. He wasn't expecting company, per se, but he lingered for a bit as he always did, just in case.

Pompeii watched as the blocks they had just crossed came and went once more on a return trip back towards the library. "Camelot? But Camelot is a fictional place...... even if it was real it would be in England or Scotland." It had not occurred to her that since she was Pompeii that there might be someone who was Camelot.
The night was just getting stranger and stranger as they got closer and closer to the library. Pompeii tried to sputter out questions but they never amounted to much more then, "Wait. What? How? Why? I don't..... But..... Zia?" As much as Pompeii knew about keeping her 'secret identity' a secret, thank you comic books, letting Zia's name slip was unintentional and went unnoticed by Pompeii. Why had she taken her picture? Why had she not freaked out or screamed or ran away? Why, on this green earth, was she dragging her back to the library?
They were practically at the library steps when Pompeii pulled her wrist from the lilac haired girl. "HOLD IT!" she whispered yelled, trying not to disturb the night and yet still get Zia's attention. "Zia just what the hell just happened and its Pompeii..... Page of Saturn." She still couldn't get over just how automatic that response is..... her mind answers, 'Jessie Haze' but what exits her mouth is 'Pompeii, Page of Saturn' as if her brain and mouth are disconnected.

"Oh well, aren't we all high and mighty, Miss My-Wonder-Is Named-After-A-Real-Place," Zia said with an eye roll as Pompeii complained. Even though that wasn't even close to the poor page's meaning, it flew way over Zia's head. It was hard thinking of things outside of knight context lately.
Pompeii's frustrated reaction on the library steps prompted Zia release her tugging hand and roll back on her heels placidly. They were where she meant to go anyway, and so the tense use of her name was only met with a cocky, "Yeees?"
And then she shrugged a little, "Dude iunno, you're the one that came flailing at me all powered up and wide eyed over some youma that was barely a thing. But don't worry, it's cool," She said before looking around and up. "YO, CAMELOT! You around?" God being enery blind sucked.

Camelot peered over the edge of the roof, looking down at the street. He saw the source of the aura he had picked up on, and shook his head at the sight of Zia dragging a Page around.
That was getting pretty common for him.
He leaped off the roof and fell down the few stories to land near enough to the two girls, though he did not want to scare either of them. He looked at them, smiling and tilting his head as he looked them over curiously.
"Good evening, ladies. Did I hear you calling for me? Zia?" He didn't recognize the other page, though he nodded his head in greeting and offered her a warm smile. He gave off a welcoming and calm air, that came from experience and age. He had to take the age thing by the horns, really.
There was no denying it, so he might as well make it work for him.

Carneli So sorry on the delay for my post T.T apparently allergy season is here without consulting me Lithia_Brandon and pardon the multi notices due to the many edits ^^' Pompeii's thoughts flew from point to point connecting them at lightning speed. Wonder. Name. Real Place. Camelot was not a place but a person.... Zia was taking her to someone. And apparently dealt with the youma since it 'was barely a thing' "But that thing...." She trailed off when it became clear that Zia wasn’t really listening anyway. She didn't have much more than a few seconds before Zia was yelling out for Camelot. "Here? They are around here?" She looked around surprised that a superhero would be hanging around the library, the same library that she and Zia had just left less then and hour ago. It was the feeling of warmth and strength that made her look up at the top of the library, the last time she felt that was when Maia arrived to save her from the 'bunnies' except it felt diffrent, still strong and bright and 'good' but diffrent. With wide eyes she saw a shadow detach from the deeper shadows of the building roof and fall to the ground. The man, for the shadow was a man, in armor and a white and red tabor nodded his head and asked Zia if she had called for him. Once again her brain worked furiously and connected the dots to make this guy Camelot that Zia was brining her to see. And he just fell down a few stories from the top of the library. She remembered the last few days of expermentation. Speed, strength, and who knew what else. The general superhero package. If changing into this getup wasn't enough to make it real in her mind, seeing this guy fall from the top of the library and land just fine would have done it... That and the CAT scan she had a few days ago.

"Um, who else?" Zia snarked with a cocky, laid back grin as per usual. The confident, arrogant facade always seemed to go into overdrive around Camelot, probably because he had seen her at her worst when it was shattered. Twice.
Pompeii's stunned half questions just made her reach over and pet her hair with, "Shh, calm doooown." And yet completely unfazed hat a total stranger knew her by name. That was getting to be pretty common too.
"This is Pompeii, apparently, and she has trouble forming complete sentences and moving on from conversation topics about youma that were already dusted."

Camelot's soft spot for Zia was eternal, and nothing between either polar extreme of her character would put him off. He was fond of her and he knew she meant well, which put him at ease when she gave him reason to fret.
He looked at Pompeii and smiled.
"You are a new knight, hmm? I can only assume, from that wide eyed look and that Zia wouldn't bring you here for much else. Are you alright? You don't have to be worried, we are here to help one another."
He smiled and motioned to the library.
"Would you like to go inside? Are you two here for information, or for a bit of patrol training?"

Pompeii ducked out from under Zia's hand. "I am not your pet so don't 'pet' me like one Zia. Just because I don't know what is going on does not mean I'm slow. For God's sake you helped me with my freaking psych papers." It never occurred to Pompeii that Zia had no idea who she was or would even question what happened to 'Jessie'. To Pompeii she only saw a old friend, Zia, who a little bit ago apparently dealt with a highly dangerous creature herself, dragged her friend, Pompeii, to the library, called down a superhero, then was sarcastic when it all overwhelmed Pompeii. "Its not like I see people jump down from a top of a building in real life Zia. So forgive me if I'm a bit shocked." She crossed her arms and couldn't help but stick her tongue out at Zia as the last of the flash of anger and uncertainty worked its way out of her system. Already feeling ashamed at her waspish comment Pompeii mumbled an apologetic 'sorry' before focusing on the man who had just become a spectator to the rarely seen show of anger. Feeling completely embarrassed she answered his questions quietly, "Yeah, uh for about," she paused to count the days, "three days now. I'm fine but I'm still not sure how Zia took care of that 'youma' or knew to bring me here. I kinda never gave Maia much chance to explain anything." Pompeii's face practically turned red as she blushed at the thought of how childish she acted a few days ago, refusing to believe the attack, the power up, the superhero-stick.

"I was thinking information," Zia answered with a shrug. It was a spastic girl who was straight up babbling fragments for most of their quick encounter, at the very least a bit of calming vibes would assist, she figured.
She quickly retracted her hand like it was going to be bitten off. Well la dee da. Usually she wasn't called out on her gross impropriety and lack of respect but it apparently didn't take much to make her back down in a hot second when she was.
"I used to help a lot of people with their papers, you gonna share your civilian name or what?" She asked in a notably less friendly tone than before and caught it only after it was out. She tried to make up for it by being saccharine with her next statement. "You have a glamour magic when you're powered, I have no idea who you are."

Camelot watched the two, shaking his head. He didn't blame Pompeii for feeling strained and maybe a bit angry, but he hoped that he could at least help ease her strain. Of course, some of that seemed to be Zia based, which was not something he could help with, really. She always did what she wanted to, though her intentions, as far as Camelot knew, were always good.
He basically just accepted what she did as just part of the whole package, even when she went a little too far. But he did keep an eye on her, if only because she sometimes got herself into trouble.
And the last thing he wanted was to see Zia hurt.
He watched the two bicker, tilting his head to the side.
"Well, let's calm down a bit. I'm sorry I startled you, Pompeii." He powered down, as if to indicate that things were safe and she didn't need to be worried. He'd done a thorough check for any auras beforehand, at least. Where there had been a knight there was now a librarian. "You're safe here. My name is Tony. I can answer what questions you have, but really, you two should probably... ahh... work out your argument first. I think we all want the same thing, in the end, but no one is going to force anything. We're here to help you, Pompeii, if you want it."

Pompeii was hurt when Zia said she helped a lot of people with papers. She thought they were friends even if they only reconnected a few days ago. They had spent hours discussing books and Pompeii didn't have many she could call friends. She opened her mouth to say as much when she caught what Zia said about a glamour and immediately shut her mouth. Glamour? Could that really be why? It’s true that she wasn't wearing her glasses and was in this get up but it wasn't like she changed dramatically, then again what exactly does she know about this whole 'superhero' stuff. "Oh.... Sorry Zia, I didn't realize that I kinda pulled a Superman on you." Pompeii was wondering if it was safe to power down and 'introduce' herself when Camelot beat her to it. The librarian? The librarian was a superhero. Pompeii couldn't help but find that funny. She started to snicker and said softly, "I'm just curious but have you ever read the book based on the TNT TV movie The Librarian: The Quest for the Spear?" After a moment to collect herself she nodded to Tony, "Sorry it’s just that this is all new to me and well I just have so many questions. Like why me? Why was I picked?" Pompeii took a moment and quickly powered down, after all if he did it had to be safe. Jessie stood in front of them, her silver rimed glinted in the little light that filtered from the surrounding buildings. "Hi Tony I'm Jessie Haze, I own The Bookwyrm." She looked at Zia sheepishly, "Sorry I really didn't know you didn't know."

There was such an awkward moment of tension and Zia never did well with tension, jumping on the first excuse to ignore it and pretend it never happened with a, "Jessiiiie!" And "Oh, so I guess you're alive after all," She added with a laugh.
Because she totally hadn't left a friend who had for all intents and appearances cowed and hid from a youma and probably needed therapy or something.
Ha, whoops.. But she was here and she was flail!knight so it was all good and no one died.
It's not that she didn't feel bad, though, it was just overcompensation and theatric antics ahoy to sincerely cover that up and sweep it under the rug.
"It's okay, darling, I think I can find it in my heart to forgive you," She said overdramatically, going right back to breaking the physical contact barrier she had so quickly retracted herself from earlier to grab Jessie's arm. And if she had complaints this time, well, Zia would just bring up the time she ran her over.
"Anyway, yes, the librarian is Camelot. And he knows all about this stuff. More than me, and I'm a genius." Because the best way to cover up feeling like a total idiot was to talk a big talk in other direction. Or at least Zia thought so.

Tony smiled and watched the two, glad to see they actually knew each other and seemed to be calming down. He had his hands in his coat pocket, regarding the two patiently, nodding when he was mentioned again and smiling.
"Well, I might not know more than a genius, but I will certainly do my best to clear up any confusion."
He offered his hand to Jessie, bowing his head a bit.
"It's nice to meet you, Jessie. I don't think I've ever read that particular book, but I'll have to look into it. Ah. Well." He considered her first question for a moment. It was always hard to understand, let alone explain. "You had a potential inside you from the start, and carried it with you all your life. When you needed the potential that was sleeping inside you, your weapon appeared and you were given these powers. To help, yourself or others. A force of good."
