 He'd been hearing a rumor lately that somewhere deep in these woods was a rather dull looking yet delicious flower. The story had been easy enough to shrug off as a bit of silliness designed to send unsuspecting folks on a goose chase but later he followed along anyways just for the sake of breaking up the monotony of his day to day routine a little. The further he progressed into the woods the more sure he became of the fact that there were no secret flowers hidden here, but the forest provided shelter from the cool winds and smelled softly of old wood and mushrooms. Something he found quite comforting.
He stopped and lifted his head. The birds were still singing merrily away. A good indication that there weren't any predators about. Now if only he could ask them for directions too.

Getting tired of traveling with her family, whom she still doubted her great grandparents were truly related to her, Awinita ventured out into the forest on her own. She ventured it so many times, she had little worry about getting lost. What she was worried about was dying of boredom. This journey her family was on was boring and seeing the same horses every day was, more or less, redundant. She needed something new, someone new. Perhaps someone she could play a good little trick on... something to entertain her.
Not wanting to think more on it and more than likely upset herself, the dark mare continued to venture through the woods. For now, she took listening to the birds chirping as her form of entertainment until she did happen upon someone.

The dark mare would have blended into the dark woods perfectly if it wasn’t for the bright strings of colour crisscrossing her neck and flank. The sudden appearance of mare caught him by surprise, but not off guard.
“Are you looking for the flower too?” he asked. Plenty happy to have a friend on his wild goose chase, even if that friend wasn’t entirely aware of just how fruitless this was likely to be. He started out toward her, weaving between the trees and springing over a low lying branch as he covered the distance between them.
“If not,” he added as he approached, “what brings you out into these woods today? If you’re a local, maybe you could help me out.”
