((This RP is totally open to anyone who feels like posting, I just thought the piemaker should have some pie related problems for Pi Day. emotion_awesome ))

Pi Day wasn’t a big thing, but if you googled hard enough it wasn’t too difficult to find businesses with discounts or promotions encouraging you to stuff your face on March 14th, usually with a theme.

The little diner off the corner of main street, 17 Waverly already had a theme, they specialized in goddamn pie. It seemed like the logical thing to do, except Noah was not especially down with losing any profit. Mellow as he could be, Noah was still a businessman and a businessman who was very much in the red after the six hundred bajillionty fourth youma attack and the cost of the subsequent renovations.

After some poking and prodding from Zia exacerbated by his younger waitstaff he did give in to one, tiny promotion and acknowledgement that yes, they sell pie and it sounds like pi. So for one day only you could score a single slice of pie for the very reasonable price of $3.14. Which wasn’t much of a discount since a single serving slice usually went for about $3.72. Whatever, it made a good poster for the window.

A poster that better bring in enough customers to pay for itself!

And it seemed to be doing okay, the late lunch hour was a little more crowded than usual as schools let out and some people with more forgiving job shifts were released from the daily grind.

Zia was even earning her keep instead of just taking up a perfectly good revenue producing booth to lounge and b***h and moan. And Noah might’ve sauntered home, confident today was a good day. A profitable day.

But when he shuffled around behind the counter to grab some personal effects, he noticed a ticket that had something disconcerting on it. Inventory went out but the charge was 0.00. He would’ve brushed it off as a freebie or a mistake but then there was another, and another.

“Hey!” He grabbed a passing waitress by the arm. “What’s the deal with these?”

She just pointed. Zia was at a table, bouncing on her toes while the girl sitting there struggled to rattle off numbers. “...four, one, five!”

“Yay!” And then she said the two words he hated most, “No charge.”

He accosted her on her walk back to the kitchen. “Uh, what the ******** are you doing?”

“Well it’s entertaining watching how many people can’t get past three point one four,” She shrugged, “Get five digits right, get free pie.”

“No, no free pie,” He said, waving his arms like a referee. “Nooo, no. Only five?” That was so easy! Definitely not worth three dollars.

He heard, somehow, over the clatter and commotion, someone else reciting digits and dashed over, throwing himself between the server and the customer in a way that resulted in an awkward sprawl that required leaning on the table side to keep from outright falling over. “No, you need to get ten. Twenty!”

Trying to stop an advertised promotion, which had already accidentally been announced in flyers and a poster right there in the window, in mid rush no less, was probably going to take way more effort than just flailing and yelling, though. Especially when his over the top reaction was just laughed off and pie was given regardless.

Ellie was not a pie person.

In fact, she hated the common pies that were out there. Always too sweet with overly sweet fruits or other filling which was meant to rot out teeth.

Where as the tomboy loathed the things that were sweet, she couldn't help but remember that her Mom was angry at her. Why she was pissed off, Ellie had yet to figure out. However, the easiest way to appease an angry mother such as her own was to get her something sweet.

The blonde didn't really pay so much attention to the street name. She just read the whole "get free pie" line on the advertisement. She strolled in the door wearing leather jacket plastered with random red and white markings over the black. She had obviously been riding her bike around town today.

Not really paying much attention to the specific squabble that seemed to be going on, the blonde ignorantly asked a question.

"...so... if ya complete th' numbers thing... are ya able t'get the free pie t'go?"

Eliza was working for pi day excited to see how many people came in to get pie. It was really silly, but people did appear to be coming in. Zia was there and seemed to be helping out and business seemed to be picking up. She was going from table to table handing out pie and taking orders for those who wanted more than just pie.

She noticed Noah come out and start talking to a customers and went over grinning. "Isn't this great. Everyone is really getting into the pi spirit. Haven't even seen anyone try to use a phone or anything to get the number! People are telling there friends. I bet we are going to get a ton more people."

She grinned than her expression took on a more curious note, "Do you think we are going to run out of pie?"

She didn't really wait for an answer before spotting Zia, heading over and calling out the same question to the girl.

Phina of course had heard about the pi day pie and though it was a cute idea. She wouldn't be doing any such promotions for the day, but she definitely had no qualms about stopping by for lunch and pie. So it was the Phina stood outside the diner, still in her work clothes, pencil skirt and opaque blouse with ruffles down the front and a nude tank underneath.

She walked in heels clicking on the floor before being greeted by a server and asked if she would like a table, but she declined upon spotting Noah and waved the girl off. "Noah," she called out.

One of Jessie's customers had left the Pi day flyer in her store and since she was doing her best to be more active in the community she decided to go get a slice of pie. When she finally pulled up out front on her bike she realized just how bad of an idea this might be since there were so many people making their way in and out of the building.

Once inside she stepped up to the counter to ask for her pie. "Oh the numbers of pi.... three point one four one five nine two." When the waitress asked her what kind she replied apple and handed her the money for the pie.

Istas had popped into her uncle's restaurant looking around for a second. She'd seen the notice of free pie, and she was rather curious as to why her uncle would be giving away pie. Granted when she got to the little hole in the wall cafe she also noticed Zia there and Noah acting... funny.

"Relax Uncle Noah." She said as she passed him on her way to sit on one of the stools at the counter. Swinging her feet a little before looking at the list of pies that her uncle sold. She didn't like cooked fruit so that was out, and the chocolate pie was something tasty but not what she was in the mood for. "Can I have a key lime pie, and a burger with mustard, pickles and chili?" She asked eventually to which ever wait staff was nearest. She had pulled out a little duck shaped purse so she could pay for the burger. However, she stared blankly when the lady waiting on her asked her the numbers of pi. "Pi?" They used calculators for that..... "Uh...."

Alexis had stopped by to grab her favorite spot and start writing on her book some more when she noticed the little cafe was so much more crowded than normal. The former teacher blinked, "Woah there's a lot of people here today." Welp, apparently she wasn't getting her favorite spot as she noticed a couple already there.

Two people came in the door at the same time, an astonishing height difference between them. Both of them noticed the height difference immediately, their thoughts both coming to the same conclusion: They're so short! In the end, who was really right? No one would ever know... just kidding! Nicole Walter was so short Gimli the Dwarf could step on her. Well, at least that's what Pascal thought before he made a v-line for Zia upon promptly noticing her.

"It's awfully busy in here, what's going on? Let me guess, you're celebrating Pi Day with pie?" He asked with a laugh. Seriously, he was just being a geek. He didn't think he'd actually be correct.

On the other side of the diner, Nick took a seat at the counter where she wouldn't take up the space of a booth. She was patient and quiet, taking her time to wait for someone to come to her. She came here for but one thing: pie. There was a smile on her face, her hands tapping the counter slightly as she recalled a month ago.

Yvette definitely was a fan of free things. It meant she didn't have to spend money she didn't have.

Literally.

Unfortunately, the girl already suspected she would be making a certain cook very upset. She could only hope that with all the business, maybe she wasn't the only one who had such special needs.

Cautiously, she made her way in, following after another woman who was about the same height as her. It wasn't surprising that it was crowded.

...maybe... maybe this is a bad idea... She had only just stepped in and now she was already having secondary thoughts. The dark-haired girl edged up to the wall by the door she just came through.

...but.... pie....

Oh course Sheldon knew about Pi, and the round about not really a national holiday that occurred every year due to an amusing similar set of numbers. He used to be a nerd, and still pretty much was, after all, hailing from a family of scientific nerdom and brains that had planted in so much mathematical nonsense since as easy as he could remember.

Sheldon also was very aware of pie, and he could easily say he was a fan. The dessert was simple, traditional and in all of his years he had yet to find a taste he didn't like (nor had he yet to see it turned into some high end piece of crap, and wow did he never want to). So, when he heard Alyssa mention randomly at work about a shop doing some sort of special day, his nerdy side couldn't help but be amused. It was enough to actually pull him away from the television for the day, pausing in his adventures of leading one Miss Lara Croft through jungles and getting her oh so dirty. An impressive feat.

He didn't know about the special offer though. And didn't expect to catch a glimpse of the purple haired waitress that looked oh so familiar when he walked through the doors of the diner and through the small crowded collection of people. Nor did he expect to see Ellie Spectre either.

Well, s**t. Though, could he really put it past whatever it was that seemed to make them find themselves in the same place? Sheldon rolled his eyes and sighed, not even attempting to hide himself; because the blonde was likely to find him anyways.

Sheldon made his way towards the counter, eying to see if seats were available before he just made his way to one of the tables instead; really, he didn't want to fight and wedge his way through... this was simpler. He sat himself down at a table for two and plucked out one of the menus to see what the diner had to offer.

It was a nice day for pie, and even sweeter to be allowed out even though she was still oh so very much grounded. Ridley basked in her freedom, bounding down the street and towards the small diner. The orange haired girl couldn't remember where she had heard about the pie discount and give away, but it seemed like an awesome place to go for the day while she still was loose before it got too late and she was imprisoned once again.

Using her small statue to her benefit, Ridley weaved her way through the small crowd at the door and past those that lingered looking for seats and wondering their knowledge about the numbers of pi. She made a small turn and then saw a very familiar shade of lilac hair, "Istas!" Ridley called out, grinning ear to ear. They hadn't had a good after school hang out in forever! The small girl bounced her way over to the stools, managing to pluck (or.. maybe steal) a seat from an unsuspecting patron right next to her friend. "Yo!"

Noah was less than receptive of Eliza's enthusiasm, not like she noticed anyway. He was watching people just give away profit with obvious contempt when he noticed someone was answering Ellie's question.

"It's a single serve slice, I guess we could put it in a to-go bo--"

"WHY ARE YOU GIVING AWAY MY s**t?" He interrupted the attempt to answer the blonde's question before realizing it was Ellie and his face shifted of a smile as he lifted his hand in greeting. "Oh, hey, Ellie," And then his eyes narrowed and the greeting turned to an accusing point, "Don't encourage this madness."

Half a** friendship that wasn't even really friendship and was based entirely on her place of employment fixing his bike and him paying and then leaving was so over if she did.

But then Phina walked in and Noah was pretty instantly distracted from the indignity because he was easily distracted by pretty ladies in general, especially ones he'd dedicated multiple dates to trying to get in bed. So unfortunately, the blnde was almost instantly ignored after the accusation as he fled to put himself more in Phina's eyeline with an obvious and poor attempt to look casual and relaxed. "Heeeeey, Phina, how you doin'?"

He wanted so badly to stand there and flirt. ut not with injustice going on. And then his worst nightmare walked in. Ms. Walter had already suffered a pretty severe allergic reaction in the establishment from an errant fruit allergy and he reacted to her noticed presence with a less than manly shriek of a yelp.

And then Yvette walked in and we were at a double death possibility combo and the yelp was repeated. s**t.

-------------------

Zia was indulging Eliza with shouts and cheers and 'go go gos' before she whirled around to face Pascal, plates in both hands. She glanced him up and down wondering if she felt like panicking he was here in personal territory uninvited because for some reason territories and who controlled them was important to her in this ******** up excuse for a romance. Of course the entire notion was pondered over with a raised brow before she shifted to a childish smile and bounced on the balls of her feet. "Yes. Also it's Albert Einstein's birthday but we can't offer free slices of relativity," She glanced at her very full hands and extended one of the plates to him. "Five digits gets a free sliiiice~"

Well, this place was certainly busy, if the pile up at the door was any indication.

Rising up on her toes in her cute work boots, Orah tried to get a good look around to see if there was anyone here she knew. The advertisement had said free pie, and obviously, who didn't like free pie? The teen even liked paid-for pie, so celebrating March 14th had seemed like a fine break from work and school and other stuff. Get out of the house, spend some time at a little cafe eating something yummy... perfect outing, right? Especially if she could find a friend to share a booth with. Or... maybe it would be fun to sit at the counter where she could see everything going on.

Shifting to the side, out of the door way, Orah paused to search for an open seat. A puff of air from the door ruffled her hair and she tucked it back automatically, then smoothed down her dress.

Ellie's brow furrowed a bit at the awkward greeting she got. Someone shouting about his sh*t being given away, who then pretended that he hadn't just shouted about such and said "hey" like it was no big deal. It wasn't that she didn't recognize the guy. She knew this was the guy with the bike that got vandalized and came to her place of work to get it fixed up again. However, it was his name that escaped her.

"...dude... I need this... fer my mom..." she managed to get out, but the man was already off to whatever business he had. Though she had other reasons to be at that establishment, she easily remembered how the man had bragged about some of their food when she was at work.

Shrugging a bit, she figured she'd give this place a go.

The tomboy was able to catch a glimpse of something familiar. And he was seated all by himself at a two seater.

Perfect!

With a huge grin, she slid on up and sat herself down in the other chair, turning it around so it was backwards before sitting down. "Nice of ya t'save me a seat, Hobbes!" She grinned because she knew he hadn't saved it for her at all.

"I take it yer here for pie, right?"
PostPosted: Thu Mar 14, 2013 9:11 am

Eliza grinned and raced about her encouragement raising her already to energetic levels of excitement. She saw many people coming in and spouting off the digits of pie and taking seat and chatting and enjoying themselves, but it was getting rather crowded. She headed to grab a tray that had food on it and several orders of pie, before running off to hand out meals and pie. It barely took her any time before she was back at the booth in the corner, standing in front of Nicole not knowing at all that the woman had suffered an allergic reaction before she was hired.

"Hello, welcome to 17 Waverly. Today in celebration of pi day, five digits get you a free slice. Would you like to give it a go?"

Phina gave Noah a bit of a wicked grin when he noticed her and moved so he could see her more clearly. She fully intended to answer his question about how she had been as she came up to him, only to give him a perplexed look as her yelped.

"I'm fine," she said looking at him, "but are you? You look ... well you look a bit stressed and kind of ... why are you yelping like that?"

She put a hand on his shoulder giving him a concerned look, "was going to ask if there was another way to get free pie, but now Im just wondering if you need a break." She gave a weak laugh clearly still a bit confused.

Lily walked into the diner after texting Alex that she was going to get pi for pie day. She wondered how many of her friends knew about and was currently sending out texts to see if anyone wanted to meet her for a late lunch at the diner. Free pie was amazing, but she didn't feel it was right to just get free pie and leave. She took a picture of the flier outside of the diner and sent the picture off to a handful of people before heading inside.

She wasn't prepared for the amount of people running about, nor for seeing so many familiar faces. She almost laughed at just how many people in the diner she had met before. She made a note to say hi to Itsas at some point, before moving to stand next to a girl (Orah) who seemed to be looking for a place to sit.

"Hey are you waiting to be seated or are we suppose to find a place to sit ourselves? It a bit crowded in here. I really didn't expect it," she said softly, hoping the girl had an answer. She would have asked Zia, but she looked busy and she didn't want to bother her friend.

"Hmm?" Orah glanced over at the girl that had joined her, a big smile lighting up her face as she laughed.

"Oh! I don't know. I think you seat yourself, but I just got here, actually, and its my first time. So who knows! They look a little busy, though, to take time out to seat us, and no one has said anything so far. I was just looking for a good spot before I sat down." The teen lifted her shoulders in a shrug as she giggled.

The bustling atmosphere was rather pleasant, actually. Not everyone like being in a crowd, but Orah actually loved being surrounded, being able to see everything that was going on. It was really part of why she was here, besides the pie. Getting to people watch was fun.

Normally Delilah would not have gone for something as predictable as the concept of Pie on Pi Day but after a math class of girls reciting the numbers for prizes, highest count getting extra credit on the next exam, she couldn't help but want something sweet.

Strolling from Crystal towards the Dinner some of the girls were talking about, Delilah was not surprised to see a crowd forming. This place had to be making a killing today.

Stepping inside, Delilah gazed around. People where coming and going from all sides but considering she was a party of one, she was more just interested in being unnoticed here. How bad it would be if classmates caught her?

Lily smiled and nodded, "yeah it much busier than I thought it would be, but I guess I should have expected it as the flier does say free pie. I thought I would get a late lunch too, as I've got a late ballet class tonight and I'll probably miss dinner."

Lily pointed to the wall, "I think there is a booth open over there. We should head over before someone takes it. Uh that is if you don't mind if I sit with you." She gave a laugh at her forwardness. She'd always been like that though, she couldn't help being friendly.

She gave a grin, "My name's Lily by the way. What your's?"
